To fight the undefeated Ricky Hatton.
Hatton recently defeated an opponent that has twice taken Mayweather to the limit. Only Hatton KO'd him in Round 4.
In Hattons own words, there was more action in that fight than Mayweather has had in his entire career.
Any thoughts on this possible match up?
This is a definite. Mayweather would win by decision.
i dont think floyd takes it because hatton is the only boxer right now who could wreck him......and do it badly

I wouldnt be getting on the Hatton bandwagon just yet. It was obvious Castillo didnt show up for the fight againt Hatton.
However, Hatton did look real good in his previous fight against Tsysu.

de la hoya isnt on the same level at hatton.......not by a long shot
I've been on the Hatton band wagon since I first saw him fight years ago...and I think he'd drop Mayweather. Most of Mayweather's recent fights have been against opponents in the twilight of their careers...
Floyd would probably win. He'd run for 12 rounds like most of his other fights. I'd give anything to see hatton shut mayweather up though.
I believe this fight is actually going to happen. Both camps are open to this fight. The only thing keeping it from happening was money. 10 million dollars should take care of that.
Hatton is no different than any other fighter Mayweather has fought. He punch a little harder, just like De La Hoys, but Hatton has done nothing to make me think he would win this fight.
This fight will happen this year. So lets wait and see. Any takers on a bet?

Well, in boxing, a young great fighter is usually the demise of a fighter who may have been greater in his prime than the younger figher will ever be. After all, It happened to Ali...and this fight would do it for Mayweather.
I would love to see Hatton knock Mayweather into next week myself, but I just don't see that happening. Mayweather will beat Hatton. But I do look for it to be a better match that Oscar's performance with Mayweather.
Hatton will have more of a desire to win than Oscar did, but Mayweather is faster and quicker to the punch than Hatton. Just my opinion.

there is only a years difference in age......i dont agree floyd is the better fighter......as said earlier hes fought bigger name guys who were all at the tailend of their careers instead of fighting them at their prime

Hatton has the potential to beat Mayweather, but he will not KO him. It would be a decision win if he did win.
I think Hatton will have to knock him out to win.....
But I think he could have a pretty good shot at doing it
lol...ok...if you say so...I look at Mayweather's last few fights...nothing that really makes his legacy any greater...Mitchell, Judah, Baldomir, De La Hoya...nothing special there except the past reputations of De La Hoya and Judah....I don't think he wants any of Hatton...prolly rather fight someone else washed up like Mosley..etc...If they fight, Mayweather will lose the fight and his aura of invincibility.

as was said before mayweather has taken these fights against guys who were once the top names in boxing to help his reputation........i think if he takes this fight he gets exposed for what he really is

Mayweather might not be the biggest puncher, but he has some of the quickest most accurate hands in the sport. He can hit his opponents almost whenever he wants, and that's exactly what he'll do to Hatton. He won't stop him with one big punch, but he'll win almost every round and eventually the number of punches landed by Mayweather will add up and he stops Hatton late. That's just how I see it happening.
That or Mayweather will out point Hatton.
IMHO the only way Hatton wins is if he catches Floyd off guard and lands a big punch. I just don't see Hatton winning enough rounds to beat Floyd on points.

First off I will start by saying I do not like Floyd Mayweather. With that said he would wreck Hatton. Hatton comes staight foward wanting to punch it out which will not work against Mayweather. Hatton would become just another punching bag in this fight. Mayweather would also be the bigger man in this fight and he would end of dropping Hatton in this fight. I know Hatton has a decent chin and all, but it can only be cracked so many times before it breaks. The only chance Hatton has is a punchers chance, and I don't see it happening.
Here we go, The contract talks are officially underway from the sound of this. Mayweather said he is coming out of retirement for this fight.
