agreed
derrick morse??? wtf

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
that defense looks really nice though, could use another corner though
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
At the ACC Media Days, Matt Ryan was the only team representative that was a QB. Is there some reason the conference is in such a field general drought?
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
there is some good talent coming for about each school though
VT - Tyrod taylor
Clemson - Willy Korn
UNC - Mike Paulus
UVa - Peter Lalich
Miami - Robert Marve
Maryland - Jeremy Ricker
NCSU - Mike Glennon
FSU - E.J. Manuel
Georgia tech - Josh Nesbitt
that's 3/4 of the conference with a 4-star or higher qb...so i'd say that'll change in 2-3 years

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Where is Antone Smith's name on that list?? I've never even heard of the guy from GT.

Rest assured PB, Choice is better than Antone Smith. Both Chris Long & Calais Campbell were quoted at the ACC Media Days as saying that Tashard Choice was the toughest guy they had to tackle all year. Choice transferred to GT after not finding much PT behind Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma. He's gonna be an NFL back someday soon and said NFL team will probably be VERY happy. Dude's a very good back.

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
not to mention Spiller should be on the list before Smith.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Thats what I was thinkin!!!!
Spiller and Davis never even got mentioned, Now I'm a little biased being a Clemson fan and all, but they are prolly the most dangerous duo in the east...

Truth. Spiller's probably the best back in the ACC. I'd rank them this way:
1. Spiller (Clem)
2. Choice (GT)
3. Ore (VT)
4. J. Davis (Clem)
5. James (Miami)
Choice/Ore will probably end up with better stats than Spiller & Davis individually, but only because Spiller & Davis are on the same team. Combined, they rushed for 2,125 yards & 27 TD's last year.

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I really like the 1-2 punch, but I'm excited if Spiller stays, after DAvis is gone next year, to see what kinda numbers CJ will put up...
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Graig Cooper will be on the list before the end of the year, just a feeling.

Isn't Spiller just a sophomore. If that's the case he has to stay for at least one more year. Clemson will go as far as their quarterback takes them, which is the same situation as last year.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
spiller is only a soph.........he isnt gonna go anywhere because once davis leaves hes the only guy there which should work out well for him
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I think by leaving, he might be talking about the rumors this offseason of his transfering.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
i doubt he transfers when he will be the #1 guy and be able to head to the NFL after next season instead of having to sit out for a year then jump back onto the field
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I'd doubt it too. There was a lot of talk of him transfering to UF this past offseason. Maybe that's blown over, maybe something will pop up again and he'll leave.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Maybe UiF will implode, that'd be best.

That was a hot rumor going around on the message boards back in February but it has since been squashed by Spiller and Tommy Bowden. He played in the Spring game and it's safe to say he will be at Clemson for the next two years.

It was more than just a rumor. It had legs. I read interviews with quotes from him talking about the whole situation. It may be squashed for now, that's not to say that something might peak that interest again. I'd say it's 99% likely he does stay where he is though.

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Why ya'll gotta hate on Antone.
Hopefully this year he can change your minds, he's finally the #1 guy and will be getting the bulk of the carries, last year he averaged nearly 6 ypc with a terrible O-line.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
No hate on antone, we know hes good but when your best back this decade has more success for the Jets than he does it college, its a little bit of a concern.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
LoL,
Hopefully they have finally got the problem taken care of.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
How is it hating on Antone to tell the truth and say Tashard Choice is better than him as a back? Choice closed out last season with 7 consecutive 100 yard + games. He's probably the guy w/the most momentum as a RB coming into this year. I don't think what I said was a stretch considering Antone hasn't lived up to his billing yet.
I still stand by that top 5 I put up...I think Antone is an easy #6 or #7 guy though as far as the ACC goes. The overall offenses may suck in the league, but we've got very good RB's everywhere.

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Oh come on, Choice is a product of Nix
Ball was a product of Gailey though

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Smith will have a better year than Choice because he will have playmakers around him. Choice doesnt have anybody to help him. Maybe if Johnson was back that would free Choice up some more but he's not.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I disagree, if their quarterback plays anything like he did in the bowl game, you may be looking at the ACC champs because you know their defense is going to bring it no matter what.
As for FSU, its a wait and see approach. Rome wasnt built in the day and they did have more problems on offense than just Jeff Bowden. With the limited amount of time that coaches can work with players during a given week, it makes it alot harder to mesh as a unit. Same goes for Miami, there will be good times and bad this year, with hopes that both teams can get back to much better football in 08. One thing sure will be nice is they wont have to play each other first.

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
It's not just the ACC, seems the whole country is loaded with top notch tailbacks. Jonathan Stewart at Oregon is a stud, and believe this, Keiland(sp) Williams at LSU will be a household name in the near future. Not to mention Steve Slaton, Tyrell Sutton and several others all over the country.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I certainly agree with you on K. Williams!! Kid was an outright stud in HS and at Hargrave!! I think he's over 220 now and runs around a 4.4 40 and really put on a show during the spring. I just hope the Hokies are able to get off their blocks and gang tackle this one or it will be a long, long night in the Bayou!

Even though the dynamic duo never showed in the Burg last season they are pretty good, I'd have to say White/Slaton is the most dangerous duo in the east. I wonder how either Davis or Spiller would hold up if they had to carry the bulk of the offense?
I think Ore deserves to be on the list because with Glennon at QB everyone knew they were getting a dose of Ore and he still performed pretty well behind a sub-par line.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I wonder how great Slaton and White would be if they actually played anyone worth a damn every week. One game against Georgia means very little when you play against supbar competition all the other weeks.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
And you, my friend, have a valid point there.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC

Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
Doesn't matter about the favorable schedule for them...I think them, Rutgers, and Louisville will all get in each others' way. All 3 of them go 1-1 against the other two, and then it will come down to tiebreakers to decide the Big East champ. Just a small prediciton on my part.
For the record, Rivals put WVU at #2 in their preseason rankings.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I'd say that's a good prediction on WVU, UL, and Ruts. Have to admit those were some entertaining games last year.
-
Re: Pre-Season All-ACC
I think Louisville may be the team to go undefeated there. They have a better coach now. Their offense will be the same with Brohm but they will be much more disciplined and have a better D. Thats my take at least.

i think the QB situation will get better for the ACC but 4 star recruits doesnt mean anything if they cant get the job done when they get in the game. You cant say they are gonig to be any better til there time comes.
