Posted this in the old timers to keep everybody from flipping out...but I heard yesterday in the booming town of GC, that their star QB and point gaurd is an expecting father... He is only a Junior...WTF???? Do kids nowdays not get sex ed??? Do they not know what causes this???

That is just a sad sad thing for his parents, and more so her parents, but most of all, for that child...I know it happens everyday, but that still doesn't make it O.K.

There is SO much free birth control out there a teenager can get it's not even funny.
A person can go to the HD for a sore throat and walk out with 6 months worth of the Pill for free. Condoms are free. Other BC items are free. And they can get this stuff while remaining anonymous.

My Mom was 15 when she had my sister in HS and 17 when she had me so she had two before 12th grade.
I think Norton has a couple of kids on the team this year that have kids. I don't think they teach sex ed anymore. Didn't stop me in high school, just a good time to laugh with friends when they show a vagina on the screen. To be 16 again.

I think the freshman Noel Devine for WVU has 3 kids. I was reading a yahoo article saying that over 50% of kids 12 years old are now having sex. That type of statistic is going to lead to alot more teenage parents.
Sadly as well, there are so many women that I know that feel like they never got to live life because they had babies at such a young age. Ten years later their marriages are failing because they never got to experience anything outside of what they have and lets be honest, the majority of men in their 20s/early 30s dont want the extra baggage of taking care of someone elses kids so you end up with more struggling marriages and single parents.

MY own opinion, and I would do the same if it was me....
You knock a girl up in high school....You be a man and quit sports, use that time to bag groceries or whatever it takes....Cause I got to much pride to let my kid grow up on government aid, while I play high school football...

Your kid is doing it. Having sex, drinking and drugs. If at anytime your a parent and that phrase "well not my kid" your naive and foolish. Out of those 3 Id honestly be willing to bet 95% of kids (especially in our area) are participating. Id say 75% are doing more than one and 60% are doing all 3.

My sister is a perfect example. A friend of mine caught my nephew with his hands up his girlfriends shirt behind the bleachers of a game playin with some boobs. He just started 7th grade. I told her about it and youd swear that I had just shot Francis Ferdinand.

So from here on out, Im not saying a word.
She asked me to take a look at their computer and I ended up removing 20 viruses and 350 peices of spyware. I clicked on firefox download manager to see what all had been downloaded. I found all kinds of stuff like "laura takes on a monster penis" that had been downloaded.
But somehow its my fault when I snitch on the kid. *shakes head*
A co-worker's sister just had to ban her 13 year old from the computer unsupervised for the same thing. I told her I sure hope she wasn't surprised that that happened!
Then she saw her kids myspace page - not tooo bad - but his little girlfriend's page looked like an ad for an underage escort service.
And the thing is, youre supposed to be at least 15 to have myspace but kids sign up and say they are 15 to circumvent that.

i agree w/what everyone has for the most part said on this forum about this topic.
kids in high school are stupid, point blank. they are ignorant, they think they know everything under the sun.
Kids just dont understand how much the world has to offer if they just wait a little and experiene life before making any major decisions. esp bringing a kid into the world (which truely is a miracle from God).
I would love to see the stat of ppl who got married under the age of 21, and are still married after a few years.
I also agree w/whoever made the comment about young single moms. I know 2 or 3 girls that are absolutly beautiful that are single moms and under the age of 24. I cannot imagine how hard it would be to be a single parent today at this age. It is really intimidating even thinking about going out w/them, because point blank they have so much extra luggage (pardon me if i sound rude). Don't get me wrong I love kids, I really do. But personally I'm not ready to be that responsible, esp if its not my kid...thas just alot of drama waiting to happen. I think you'd have to really be in love with a girl to make that situation work. and yeah it is very possible for it to happen.
i think the best example for kids would be a coach that post on this forum. this girl is smart, pretty, and has a really good head on her shoulders. she waited until she graduated college, got a career, and is now happily married to a great guy (the SNAKE!!) who she has known her whole life. and honestly as corny as it sounds that is a fairy tale ending to a great new life they will have. in which i wish them the best of luck, even though they wont need it.
and we can blame paris hilton, lindsey lohan, or whatever but what it comes down to is parenting. and providing a good example to the youngins at an early age.
Dont get me wrong, there are ppl who have gotten married as soon as they turned 18 and stayed married 50+ years, which is awesome and very possible...but research has shown ppl under the age of 21 that get married are more likely to go through a divorce.

I could make a couple of comments, but they would certainly be misconstrued...
Things may have changed in the last 15 years or so, but in my day not everyone was screwing, smoking dope and drinking. There were cases of each, but for the most part we were clean.
Then again, that was pre 'IS'.
Well, I have watched this thread for a while and swore I was not going to respond, but I have to respond to this. My youngest daughter, who is now 21 got pregnant at 14, had the baby 3 months after her 15 birthday. Before this happened, I was one of those parents that said....."NO, NOT MY CHILD, NEVER!!", man was I ever wrong. My wife and I took care of the baby and let our daughter finish high school. Best decision we ever made. She finish high school with honors, went to college and finished with a degree and is now married to our grand daughter's dad and all is well with them.
My point is, don't ever, as a parent, say your children will never do something like this. They will and they do! Just be a "rock" for them to lean on. It isn't the end of the world for none of us. And don't ever, take a child's life by abortion, we couldn't. They are a gift from God, no matter how soon they come along.

I am not perfect and never lay claim to that...but I honestly do try to be a role model. If you are well-known in a community and especially if you are around or work with kids, they notice you. They know more about you than you think. They are interested in you and are interested in the point of view that you have of them. I try to not only be a good coach in the sports I coach, but I really do try to guide these young girls. I try to inforce the view that each girl is WORTH something and to hold themselves to that high esteem as much as possible.

furthermore, I took care of my own child, graduated with honors as well as 12 college credits. Went on to college, have my degree and a decent job. Never married the child's father, which is a blessing. The man I did marry was a decent man for a long time...he fit the purpose for the time we were married I rekon. But still you can do what you need to do. Just because you are young does not mean you can't raise a child. Despite my success I am the strongest advocate for not having a child that early. I was 13 when I got pregnant, and 14 when I had her.
