Why I haven't been here

I've taken a break from the forum mainly because I've been working towards my goal of becoming a college basketball coach...this summer i worked all the bball camps at VT and one at GC, saw some kids from back home and got to meet their parents, one particular lady that was from clintwood was especially nice when i met her while she was trying to get autographs for her son

I haven't been on here because right now I'm really spreading myself thin, I am on pace to graduate this spring with a degree in Philosophy with a minor in Communications...I am trying to keep my grades up so that I can get into graduate school to work for a masters in Communications, but all that is secondary to working towards becoming a college coach

I've been fortunate enough to meet a lot of different coaches this summer and email/text some others about different job opportunities or just sound advice

at the same time I am a player/coach for our JV basketball team as I was just given coaching responsibilities at the end of last year, I also am doing work on the scout team for both the men's and women's basketball teams...i am also set to be a manager on the men's basketball team and video coordinator to help break down film on other teams

right now im in the process of emailing a lot of coaches to check job openings especially on the Graduate Assistant level or Director of Basketball Operations, or in some cases, Apprentice Coaching jobs

my first option right now is to get into Grad School somewhere and become a Grad Asst until I get my masters, then try to get on at a small college somewhere as an Asst. Coach and work my way from there

anyways, i just wanted to let you guys know why i havent (and wont) be online here much but i have enjoyed my time here with you guys whether it was arguing or joke-telling or anything of the sort...but i would like to say that if i offended anyone in my time here i am sorry and i regret doing so as it is only a message board at the end of the day...i have seen that you guys are getting tired of hearing about 4/16...but that has really changed the way i look at things and it really made me kick into high gear realizing i had work to do if i ever wanted to reach my goals, because i realized all of them had goals in life and for reasons out of their control they could not fulfill them

before i go i WILL address the Michael Vick situation as I have seen that you guys are clamoring to nail me for that...I DO NOT condone the things Michael Vick did, i think they are deplorable and sickening, all that I ever ask for in any case is for a fair trial before judgement...the man pled guilty so now I condemn what he did

it's been fun and i'll continue to read some from time to time, but i think it is best for me to concentrate my efforts on getting my name out and trying to stick somewhere

My explanation why I haven't been on this week. I had a stroke. 30 years old and have a Teddy Bruschi-esque stroke. Too much stress and high blood pressure. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

I'm fine now. (and don't want to ruin Drew's thread). I woke up Sunday morning and couldn't move the right side of my body. I tried to stand up to get out of the bed and fell through an entertainment center, knocked off an Xbox, lots of cd's, dvd's, almost the tv. Fell several times trying to get down the hall. Finally made it to the shower and got cleaned up and by that time I started getting some feeling back. My girlfriends mom (who's an RN) showed up and took my BP and it was like 170/110. The whole thing lasted about an hour and a half. They said it was a mini stroke. Scared the hell out of me. I thought I's going to be a cripple for the rest of my life. They put me on new meds for Cholesterol and BP. I've went through MRI's, EEG's, EKG's, Chest X Rays, Untra Sounds of my heart and corrotted arteries. Scary stuff. Now, I've got to shed these extra lb's. I've lost a little over 10 in the last week and a half.

The crazy thing is, my arteries didn't look bad at all. My problem is stress. This job's had me in fits the last week or so. That's why my bp is so high.

Herb--hate to hear all of that man. I hope you're able to cut down the weight & lessen the stress in your life so that doesn't happen again. The board & C'wood games wouldn't be the same w/o you. Counts would get lonely taping the games w/o you up there to make astute observations for him to come on here and misspell...
