They did.
LOL
Look up Indians, the blue knights are next,,run that record to 3-1.
If Coeburn's defense allowed Pound to score 26 and only had 31 points on offense (winning by not even a TD), Kelly should have no problem coming away with a win.
Like I said: If they lose this game, it's time to start worrying about the program again this year. Losing to Burton is nothing shameful - they're just that good. Keep your heads up and finish out the rest of the season on a high note!
When they play Coeburn.Wise better watch the clock and the blocks in the back.Thank goodness they were called though.Wise should be able to win.

so i guess you are implying coeburn was blockin in the back all night?
Coeburn had 3 or 4 called on 'em last night. Didn't matter though, as you saw it was taking 4 and 5 defenders to tackle Shane.
Uhhh yes I am.You go to the game? And ran at least 45 seconds off the clock while they were trying to decide who had the ball from the fumble.Pound player comes up with it in his hands and Coeburn gets the ball...Ummmm wonder what happened there?

While remaining neutral on the subject, I can confirm that the above incident did occur.
Yes he is a good ball player. But doesn't make up for all the illegal hits in the back.
unless it's flagged, it isn't illegal. AND if the hitter has hit helment in front of the hittee...it is legal anyways, even if he does lay the hit into the back of the hittee..
I think I said thank goodness they were called.I think Coeburn had about 60 yards of penalties called last night and most were illegal blocks in the back. But there were some that wasn't called also.A late hit on the sidelines where the Pound player was in the dirt when hit.And a couple other that wasn't called. But the referee's are not gonna catch all of um.
yeah and while the Coach Cried about them having the ball one of his players laid hurt on the field no coach ever going to check on him untill the Coeburn players did.
The coaches wasn't aware we had a player down. And when we called for a time out the Coeburn coach yelled across the field that we had no timeouts left. And our coach had to yell and tell him we had a injury on the field.A Coeburn player did check on the Pound player that was down as I'm sure Pound would have done the same thing had it been a Coeburn player. The clock better be watched while playin Coeburn is all I can say.
The accident Ainge is talking about actually accurred too.
The reason that the time ran off the clock is because the ref said it was Coeburn's ball and said start the clock. When this happened the Pound players should have gotten up quickly to save time, but they continued to fight for the ball after the ref had already made the call.
what happened to Coeburns football program? I mean they were never a dominate force, but ever since the 2001 season they have declined drastically with no sign of improvement.
How in the world could they say it was Coeburn's ball and start the clock when all the player were still fighting for it.I said the injury did happen and all the coaches were at the pile of players fighting for the ball. And we fans were letting the coaches know the player was down.As soon as coach was aware of the injury they were all there to take care of the player.
yeah, i mean here at coeburn we always control the clock and run excessive time off the clock, it was the refs, not us
you lost, quit complaining as is the par for Pound

The last time they were decent was when they had Ricky Hayes (his last year was 01 or 02, can't remember), but ever since then they've just had it rough .. I'm sure they'll eventually get better sometime in the future, but it's hard to say when exactly that will happen.
Hey I'm not complaining here the truth is the truth. If I were complaining because we lost I would have done it after the other games we have played.I didn't see the ref's say to start the clock. And like I said ...How could they say it was Coeburn's ball when all the players were on top of it fighting for it?
how is it the coeburn teams fault for the clock being run down??
that would be the refs

Well, technically the time is supposed to be kept on the field, but apparently the refs were in over their heads near the end of the game and didn't pay any attention to it either on the scoreboard or on their own watches. And, I don't recall anyone accusing the Coeburn team on any impropriety in regards of the clock. Coeburn played a very good, hard fought game as did our Pound boys. It was an excellent game and the score did reflect that. Coeburn deserved to win and they did. My only regret is that such a bungle of the clock may overshadow the great efforts put forth by both teams. Both teams deserved better than that IMHO.
Oh and I meant to say the Coeburn field looked awsome. The work done on that field really paid off.Have to say it has to be one of the prettiest fields around here.
just wish they would have got a few of the humps out of it
looks pretty good though

LOL wow I was a bit off then.. I thought Coeburn had a decent record for all of the years he played but I guess I was majorly wrong. Honest mistake!

Agreed. The clock operator is only supposed to work off of the referee's discretion and his signals from the field. If the ref didn't give the signal, then that's his screw up and the clock operator did their job.
However, if we're gonna talk about the blocks in the back, how about 5 out of 7 coaches on Pound's sidelines being out on the field to the numbers for the majority of the game? Plus, about 3-4 of them yelling in the face of one of the officials for a late hit that wasn't one (the momentum of the players took them out of bounds, the tackle began in the field of play and couldn't be stopped). Feels like P-Nut football all over again.
Everyone knows that Pound is full of D1 talent but their coaches and officials around here are just to dumb to realize that they should be laying waste to everyone they meet.
Fight for a ball doesn't mean anyting unless the ball actually came out, jumping on someone that is down and trying to pull the ball away and fighting for is useless and takes time off the clock. Just from reading this the ball wasn't fumbled Pound players just started trying to take it away from the runner after he was down and on a running play the clock doesn't stop so without an actual fumble the clock would just keep going and even if there is a fumble the clock continues to run till the official signals for a stoppage by crossing his arms over his head, a whistle blowing doesn't stop the clock only the play. Apparently the play was dead and the Coeburn player was down and there was no reason to be fighting over a ball even if a Pound player came out of a pile with it the play was over and all they accomplished was to waste time.
I know it is useless to argue the point now since the game is over and the better team won; however, the ball did come out on this particular play without any whistle being blown so it was live and thus the ensuing scramble for the ball took place. I'm not entirely sure about the rules as far as stopping the clock in such situations. If its the refs prerogative to decide if it was appropriate to stop the clock in the event of a scramble and dog-pile for the loose ball, then fine. I couldn't tell who actually recovered the ball, so I have to leave that to the officials who awarded it back to Coeburn. But, since the score was within 5 points and that run off of the clock pretty much ended the game, I can understand why some people might feel slighted a bit since it seemed a bit botched in my opinion. Anyway, congrats to the Blue Knights on their win.
And, the field is really nice.
Ok, you were the first to say the ball was actually fumbled. And the clock does continue to run till the official gives the proper crossed arms overhead clock stoppage sign. Coeburn does use an authorized/dedicated clock operator that is seperate from the scoreboard operator and his only job is to watch the referee and start and stop the clock on his signal.

That's my point. If it's the clock not stopping, that's on the refs for not giving the signal. If the clock needs to stop on a deadball change of possession, even if they are sorting out a pile created from an onside kick, then let the other officials do that and the referee needs to have his heads up enough to do his job and stop the clock.
I was up in the pressbox above the clock operator next to the guy filming the game for Coeburn, and that's the first thing I said when the clock was running and Pound's assistants next to us in the pressbox were yelling about it--the ref never signaled, and it's up to him to do so before the clock operator can stop it legally.
It doesn't sound like the clocked needed to be stopped. There wasn't a change of possession which requires it. A dog pile on a fumble does not stop it. Had Pound recovered the fumble the clock would have stopped, due to Pound being awarded a new series.
