How'd the teams do?
Wise vs Appy. Wise Crunch Bunch won, Appy Division I & II won.
Pound vs Coeburn. Pound CB won, Coeburn D I & II won.
Norton vs Clintwood. Norton CB & D I won, Clintwood D II won.
There were some exciting plays and big hits in the three Wise/Appy games. Everyone played fair and were good sports. Games for next week are:
Coeburn @ Wise
Norton @ Appy
Clintwood @ Pound
It costs a dollar at the gate. That goes to pay the college kids that come out and ref the games. This is football in it's purest form.
i agree totally state champs even tho it was ver y very very hot the games were fun
i agree it was hot! why not start those games later? everybody has lights. they let school out early because of heat then they play football during the hottest part of the day. what sense does that make?
u got that jazzy raider i would not mind the games starting at like 430,6,745 be a good idea!
Didn't Wise cancel one practice in the evenings due to heat?
Yes we did. I cancelled practice on a Thursday, the first week of full pads when we had the 90ish temps. I felt like it would be better and safer for the kids (many parent agreed).
It would benefit starting later. But the high temps are supposed to break next week. Thursdays high is 78 as of Friday. Non the less, my kids were pumped up during the game and drained after it. See you all at the game.
Or start them at 8:00 am or something
I know Indian_Dad would like to see that - so he could watch his kid's games. As it is he has to go into work before his oldest's games start.
nah 8 a.m. would be too early to play those games.
Why would that be to early? weather would be much better for everyone involved instead of starting at 3:00. Later change it to later when it is cooler mid-day.
start at 8 CB play two 15 min half's, then the div 1 10 min after that and div 2 would be over by 12 and everyone's day isn't shot.
The format we use is good. If we changed times, 10 am would be the earilest we should go. I like the current format. As far as two 15 min halfs, NO. We run a continuous clock, stopping only for time outs and after two point conversion attempts. Saturday was awful as far as temp goes, but I don't think one hot Saturday constitutes changing a good working format.
i know that i was just saying i think more people would show up especially for the D2 game if it was played totally under the lights as compared to starting around 615 and ending after 8, and for the crunch bunch i would make it 15 mins foreach half for a total of 30! D1 i would make it 6min quarters for 4 quarters and D2 would make it 10 min quarters for 4 quarters.
