Penalized a meager 25 points, for car not passing post race inspection Sunday...
It was also determined it was due to mechanical failure, not tampering as the others. How can you call it a slap on the wrist when it during the Chase that he is a part of?
Yeah as I read one place, a 25 point penalty at this point is equivalent to I think it said, 2.5 times what the penalty would be during the regular season (so to speak).
Granted, I think that was through his team, so take that with a bit of a grain of salt.
He could still be leading the chase after 2 weeks....I'm sorry if you have a car that doesn't pass inspection durring the chase , you should be out, no question, especially with the likes of Jimmie Johnson in the chase, and his cheating tendencies....
I could agree if it was deemed intentional, but due to a mechanical malfunction, well, that is pretty ludacris.
He wasn't leading the Chase anyway though.
25 points is alot in the chase. jeffy gordon would have been champion in 2004 with 25 extra points.
Plus, Tony was found guilty of the same infraction last week according to reports, but wasn't fined at all. Now, complain about Carl getting a slap on the wrist.
So you are tellin me the one man that almost everyone hates didn't get fined for this, in the same chase, and no-ones publically bitchin???? OK
hang on Peyton Manning just walked in with a 12 pack, me and him's gonna watch the rest of the Thursday night game
How could you pass a pre race inspection and fail the post race inspection??
According to Dave Despain Stewart was below the required height limits at NHIS last weekend. Which brings up the point of why penalize either one if it is not an advantage to the race car? It would create better drag with the wing higher in the air.

Hey, if you think Tony doesn't get away with a lot, did you see what happened yesterday? Even when a precedent is set. Stewert gets away with a lot. You would almost think he drove for Hendrick.

Hunter said the decision not to penalize Stewart is in line with similar decisions when drivers said an obscenity outside a formal interview session.
"That's our position," Hunter said. "It wasn't an interview.
I don't remember other sessions on live TV like he mentions. Still, you can't scream that someone gets away with murder, and then say another doesn't.
remember Kyle Petty's in-car cursing over something and he didn't get a penalty because it was not an on camera interview.
He didn't get a penalty because it was not live TV like this incident.
