what would you guys have said if someone told you at the beginning of the season that Boston College, South Florida, South Carolina and Missouri would be in the top 10....or that Texas, Michigan and Florida would not
Florida should be ranked about 8th in my opinion (and I'm a Vol fan)
College Football rewards pitiful scheduling, most of the teams ranked in the top ten haven't played anybody. VT will play three ranked teams all season, most SEC schools have already played that many. Then you've got the South Florida's and Cincy's of the world.

aside from lsu which is a great game to play, you cant take credit for scheduling any of those other teams, you actually have to play them. Wtf, please, Ohio and William and Mary back to back, enough said.
What two ranked teams have you already played, only one I see ranked is LSU? Surely to God your not going to count Clemson who will not be ranked again this season? By the time you play FSU they may not even be ranked. Basically VT will need FSU to continue to play well or they will play a grand total of two ranked teams, that will appear in the final regular season top 25 poll.

And how many SEC teams have already played 2 ranked non-conference teams? Didn't Miami play UNC this weekend? How'd they do? I think ECU beat UNC didn't they? Guess those rough games vs Marshall and FIU got you guys ready for the Heels! The SEC teams don't need to play ranked nonconference teams...cuz nearly every conference game they play will be a ranked team. 7 SEC teams are ranked this week...nonconference is breather time in the SEC. As far as VT goes...they've already shown how they would fare if they were in the SEC.

No, not at all. SEC is the strongest conference there is right now. Mega was just talking about VT's ranked opponents in the ACC being on the schedule because of Conference sheduling. I brought up the point that SEC teams don't load up on non conference (but they don'y have to). ACC is terribly weak.
Can anyone honestly say that VT is better than WVU, Florida, Oregon, or Southern Cal. I'm glad this poll don't count.

i do too, VT would beat WVU like a drum as always, but its kinda catch-22, if WVU had VT on their schedule they wouldn't have such lofty preseason rankings

it's simple, who is the ONLY team in the nation to play two of the teams in the top 5?? it's not any SEC team (don't start on conference arguments, the ACC sucks) it's not Texas, it's not USC...hmmm and yet, we got armchair quarterbacks talkin bout that team havin an easy schedule...

ECU, Bill & Mary, UNC, and ECU .......enough said. Most if not all major programs would be 5-1 just like VT if they played their schedule so far. They lost by 41, and are ahead of Oregon?
BC is ranked that high by default, not saying there not good but they've yet to even play one ranked team.
so what exactly does VT have to do to stop the couch coaches from saying they're playin a cupcake schedule?? do they gotta schedule the #1 team in the nation?? oh wait...
How about removing all lower tier teams from their schedule?
I'll give VPI credit where it's due. Over the last 5 or 6 years they have made an effort to strengthen their OOC schedule. That said, it isn't like this is a new argument. I've been saying it since at least 94 or 95.
For a program that likes to claim elite status, they sure do play a lot of cupcakes.

I'm not saying they are not a good football team. The fact is the ONLY legit team that they have played (LSU) from the word go dominated them. Oregon lost by 7 to the now number 2 team, beat Michigan BAD at the Big House. All I want to know is what justifies VT being ranked 9th in this poll?
Everytime Tech schedules a power team such as LSU or USC they surround it with cupcakes such as W&M, Ohio, Florida A&M, ECU, or Ohio.
There is no justification for Tech being ranked anywhere.

First off, we are talking about Virginia Tech, Miami isnt even in this poll so why in the world would we even talk about them?
FIU was a go between until they could get a series with UF and USF which start next year. We dont even have to talk about Marshall since everyone plays or has played Marshall. I remember Marshall supposedly being a quality opponent when you guys played them. I think the general consensus is that the Miami Hurricanes have generally played a pretty good schedule every year. So youre saying Oklahoma isnt LSU? lol, who knows whats going to happen. You might see Oklahoma in the title game before you even see LSU there. Do me a favor, go kill 30 more people so you can move up in the polls. If enough people die, you guys finally might get a trophy in the case. Dont pm me being whiney either. Just remember, for every dead person that helps you guys move up, every dead dog drops you a spot. I know I know, youre going to be defensive, give me 500 reasons why Tech is the chit and you dont defend Vick and whatnot but the polls are laughable and that was the point PVfan was making and that was the point I was agreeing with. Playing LSU two times several years apart and playing the 'jens once isnt exactly anything to brag about. Id have a better chance telling you who Miami hasnt played before Id waste my time telling you they have played. Mighty North Carolina sure took us down and I kinda expected things like that to happen for the next few seasons but before you declare your team world beaters, just keep in mind they only beat the mighty heels by a touchdown just last week at home.

Okay, Tech is ranked because they were supposed to be better than last year. However, their offense hasn't really proved anything..yet... They win the games that matter. Yes, they got crushed by LSU. Yes, they squeaked by UNC, however UNC beat a good Miami team. I am by no means a Tech fan. Tech keeps winning, they will continue to be ranked like they are. They are getting ready to hit the hard part of their schedule, so we'll see how good they are.

I don't think any VT fan will call them "world beaters". They have serious O problems and a good offensive team will wear the VT D down and score the points. But at least they DID beat UNC. You're funny that you keep bringing up the students and faculty a gutless punk killed and then took his own sorry life. I'll agree with anyone that VT is ranked too high, but it takes a sorry individual IMO to even make some of those comments you made. I remember last season when only 1 Cane was killed by some nut and it was a terrible thing and something I would never make light of.

With VT`s schedule, the worse team in the SEC would be sitting with the same record, period.
