Playoffs in full swing in other states
Cumberland Gap(10-1), TW's season opening opponent, goes on the road to Gatlinburg tonight for a rematch with Gatlinburg-Pittman(10-1) the only team they lost to in the regular season. Panther QB Adam Nelson has passed for over 2600 yards and 29 TD's this season. GP won 32-21 earlier in the season when they knocked Nelson out of the game with a concussion. Should be a great game.
Middlesboro KY(8-3), a team that Lee High beat 20-19, goes on the road to the #2 2A team in KY, Corbin(10-1) tonight. Corbin, who's led by QB Clint Cashen who's passed for more than 2000 yards this season. The Yellow Jackets will be without their starting QB Hunter Adams. Corbin already beat the Jackets 48-15 this season so this one could be ugly.
Bell County KY(11-0), is at home against Rockcastle(6-5), a team they've already beaten 24-0 this year. Rockcastle held them to the fewest points and yards they've had all season. Bell has never beaten Rockcastle twice in the same season. Should be an interesting game.

They were in quarter swing in VA last week. Some AAA playoff games were played.

Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Out of the 3 games I listed, Cumberland Gap lost 30-24, Middlesboro lost 28-13, and Bell County won 35-0 to extend their record to 12-0 and tighten their grip on the number 1 ranking in class 4A. By the way, Breathitt County is undefeated in class 3A in KY too, as they won tonight.

Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Prestonsburg blanked Shelby Valley 38-9. Pikeville, Johnson Central & Breathitt Co. also won in KY.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Rockcastle coudn't hold a candle to any of the LPD teams believe me I have seen them play!
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
I know the football team at Berea Community would probably lose to Twin Springs.
Hey, kydawg, from what you know, is Madison Southern usually in the playoffs?
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
I dunno about that. Rockcastle is usually one of the better team in Southeast KY and in the regular season they held Bell to only 24 points. Well all know what Volunteer did to Clintwood, and Bell destroyed Volunteer.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
KY expanded their playoffs when they realigned over the Summer - about 90% of the teams got in this year.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
lol...Volunteer is made out to be a big scary beast by you guys...they are not haha, not at all, idk what happend at clintwood, but by no means is their any way in hell they are that good
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Yeah Madison southern is usally pretty good. Rockcastle just started a new idea game this year .There new philospy is SWVA old one three yards and a cloud of dust.Wayne county usally has most of the beef! As far as air attacks go Somerset with D-1 prospect John Cole is nice. But from what I have seen starting this year with UK's success is the first year that alot of schools really started getting into there programs!

The ended Tennessee High's season and pushed Greenville this past week. You're the one always talking about the man, the myth, the legend, Curt Phillips, well Greenville beat Sullivan South so Volunteer must be pretty solid to hang with them.

Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
South had a horrible game that night. I think they had 6 TOs. I wouldn't be surprised if South avenges that loss Friday.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
lol and volenteer didn't really come close to pushing greenvile to the limit, the score was much closer than the game.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
It won't matter, Greeneville or South will meet their demise against Maryville the following week.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
I've heard Maryville wasn't AS dominate as in previous years...Still dominate, just not overpowered...
I think south will give them a good game.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
South won't be within 3 TD's of Maryville. Brent Burnette is BETTER than Curt Phillips not to mention his supporting cast which includes future UT tight end Aaron Douglas who's just a monster.

Were you at that game?? If so you sure seem to make it out to a lot of games on the same night.

I agree with you on Maryville winning, but this part is just a joke.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Burnette is being recruited by D1 schools too. He's at least as good as Phillips plus you know Maryville's supporting cast is better than Curt's. Burnette's regular season stat line, 146 for 217, 67% Completions, 2201 yards, 23 TD's and only 5 picks.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
His team is far better than Curt's that's why I said I agreed with you that Maryville would win. Curt has 7-8 D1 scholarship offers to Burnette's 0 though. That's very telling. Being recruited and getting offers is totally different.

Madison Southern's records every year since 2000 are as follows
2000 5-6
2001 6-5
2002 10-2
2003 5-6
2004 3-7
2005 9-3
2006 4-6

Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Ok, Burnette is a more polished passer is what I'm trying to say. Running is a big part of Curt's game.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
He seems to be throwing it quite well this year too. I wont matter if he plays M-ville though. He wont have near enough help.
-
Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Yep, Curt is good no doubt but Maryville is a whole different animal. 50 some game winning streak and probably the best coach in Tennessee. IMO if South does make it that far, Curt better practice picking himself up off the ground cause South's line can't handle the Maryville pass rush.

All your posts are so great, they just rip everyone. According to you everyone sucks. Well maybe you're right, everyone sucks, but you my friend, you swallow.

Don't you forget it bucko!

Re: Playoffs in full swing in other states
Haha I wasnt arguing with Lung anyway I was just stating that Burnette and Phillips have totally different roles. Phillips has to do it all and Burnette simply sits back and distributes the ball the great athletes and they do the rest. Burnette has played against much tougher competition too. IMHO the top 4 teams in Maryville's conference are all better than South.
