Hawai'i
Let's all chuckle next week when Washington's Huskies come to the island and spoil this "Warrior frenzy" by dropping the Rainblow Warriors like a used rubber. If by some chance they do not, I don't look for the BCS game to work out too well fer 'em (could be wrong though, ala Boise St-Oklahoma). The sign last night that got to me was the one about giving Hawai'i the same respect that you give Kansas with their "weak schedule". Granted the Jayhawks aren't playing in the SEC, but their conference is a helluva lot tougher than the WAC.

Re: Hawai'i
I don't think Hawaii is all that great either, but if they can beat the Huskies it would be a shame to be shut out with an undefeated season. With all the top teams that have lost to unranked teams the Warriors would deserve a BCS game.

Re: Hawai'i
freakin' warriors.....cost me a lot of money last night lol.
i will give hawaii credit in the fact that everything they do is agressive and attacking on both sides of the ball. some team real soon is going to take advantage of that, though.
brennan throws a nice ball from 15 yards in. accurate and usually comes out quickly. i'll give him that.

Re: Hawai'i
Actually, I hope they destroy the Huskies and anyone that they might face in the BCS. The BCS being what it is, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Warriors sitting at home watching like everyone else. Until the BCS comes up with a foolproof playoff system like the pros have, I will treat any "National Champion" with the same respect that I do the "(ESPN)Hypeman Trophy Winner". Just about any division 1 conference has a claim at being the best, as its a matter of opinion for most folks. Let the Conference champs face off against each other in a tournament bracket until two teams actually EARN their way to the championship game.

That is exactly why Hawai'i will be in trouble when they face stiffer competition. The Warrior defense will be embarrassed when they encounter a team with better caliber athletes than the WAC clubs.

Re: Hawai'i
I just saw on game day, and it's pretty amazing, Hawaii has only beaten 2 teams this year with a winning record.
-
Re: Hawai'i
I would like to see at least a 16 team playoff. Conference champs, wildcards, etc. because as teams change over the season with injuries and all a team that has lost a game or 2 could be the best.
-
Re: Hawai'i
if they run the table and dont make BCS game its yet another reason why the system sucks and neeeds to be changed

Re: Hawai'i
They said they might end up playing an a SEC team in the suger bowl.....

i would love to see that

Re: Hawai'i
It's not Hawaii's fault teams won't play them. All they can do is beat who they play, and it don't matter if you win by 1 or 100, a win is a win.
-
Re: Hawai'i
They can get a game with just about anyone. Nobody is, nor should they travel to Hawaii though.

Why not? Flying to Hawai'i from Arizona on westward is no worse than UT flying to play a California team. Heck, I'd prefer Hawai'i over most of the venues available!

Re: Hawai'i
What I'm saying is, Hawaii hasn't earned a reputation that would warrant a big time team giving them a home/home series. A FSU, VT, USC, Oklahoma would play them but Hawaii isn't in the position to think they're not going to have to travel. It has nothing to do with where Hawaii is, it's the fact that they've not proven themselves yet. They have to do what FSU did to start their program. Play anyone, anywhere.
-
Re: Hawai'i
every trip Hawaii makes off of the island is a long trip so it is hard for them to travel and pay to travel to any SEC/ACC team
the warriors have an awesone offense (and I hate the forward pass) but it looks like playing ball with your friends in the back yard lots of fun
if they winish undefeated put them in a BCS game and lets see how good they really are
-
Re: Hawai'i
It's a closer trip to play either of the California schools, either Washington schools, either Oregon Schools, either Arizona schools, or dozens of other schools than some of the weak ass losers they play now. They can schedule someone that will earn them respect, they just don't want to. They've made trips that are about the same as it would take to play an SEC/ACC team. They don't want to play anyone that will wax them.

Re: Hawai'i
When I lived in Hawaii, they played BYU, a couple of pac 10 schools etc. I hated the team tho cuz they could talk it but couldn't walk it...and i still don't like em for the same reason. Schedule a decent schedule or quit whining.
-
Re: Hawai'i
can't blame it on the kids. Schedules are scheduled years in advance.
I think Hawaii can hang with any team. I don't think they'll flat out kill a team, but sure they can hang with them.
I hope they do win out, play Georgia, and beat em'.
Because that will add fuel to fire, and more pressure on these "FBS" officials to get rid of these bowl games.
-
Re: Hawai'i
I like the fact that schedules are made years in advance. That way, a team can't just schedule well when they are good...and it prevents a 1 shot wonder from having as good a chance if they play a weak schedule annually, passing them over for other contenders that play a tougher schedule year in and year out. That's how it should be. IMO, unless you are at least in a BCS conference, the BCS title game should be beyond your reach.
-
Re: Hawai'i
If Hawai'i drew Georgia, I'd take the Dawgs by 14 mimimum. Moreno would have around 300 yards rushing in that one.
-
Re: Hawai'i
maybe but if Colt Brennan passes for 500 yds and the warrior D forces a few turnovers who knows
their schedule is weak but so was Boise States last year and that didnt stop them from beating Oklahoma
I prefer a playoff system but in the current system if you go undefeated you deserve to play in a BCS bowl
