Wait 2 weeks for the darn computer to come in.
Open it up at lunch today, get it all started up, blah blah.
Can't connect to the internet. Internet's there - says its connected. Same internet we used before. Won't open a page. Didn't have enough time at lunch to figure it out, so now I know what I'll be doing after work.
Argh. What an aggravation.
You usually have to have the disk from the internet provider to get the right program on the computer.
Never have before - this is third computer I've had on this connection. And my sisters have had their computers here no problem.
Dont think I even have a disk to be honest. One of my sisters has comcast - I'll see if she has one I can bum
Had to have the Comcast disk to get my F-I-L's to work over here so he could get some updates he needed.
just checked with my sister - she doesn't have one either. They just got on comcast a few months ago. may just wind up having to go to the office at lunch tomorrow I guess!
Thanks for reminding me about the disk's existence though - it's a good start.

802.11 or ethernet?
You shouldn't need a disk, I would just make sure your local area connection is connected, make sure your pulling an ip, make sure your set to pull your ip and dns automatically, make sure your set to never dial a connection, and try hitting refresh when opening a browser.
Those are just a few things I would try, if all else fails just call comcast.

guys, cant you basically punch in 192.168.1.1 into the browser, choose static, dynamic, or ppoe based upon whatever is required, then add a username and password if necessary?
Actually I've tried all the above. I'm now just using my sister's signal. I can connect to them just fine.
We're suspecting the modem has a problem (wont work even if I plug in directly then reboot modem and computer). Will confirm it when I get the opportunity to call tech support one more time (already talked to them once).
I had a problem this past week. Called tech support 3 times. Got wrong info first time, ignored the second time, and correct info that got me back on the net on the thrid call.
When I told the guy who gave me correct and detailed adive what the others had said he laughed and said that they must have been in a hurry to get to the bathroom!
We tried to get my fil's computer to work at my cousins and nothing and we took it to my house and had to use the disks to install the modem from comcast/adelphia to get it to work there, cousin didn't know where his install disks were.
I was told by multiple sources I didn't need the comcast disk.
Currently I'm using my sister's comcast connection, without having done any installations.
We're going to try one more thing before calling Tech support - all clues currently point to my modem having a problem.

hopefully thats the case. Ive been sick of the kid for months.Im just glad Shannon pulled his scholarship. Shannon hadnt talked to him in over 2 months so they started recruiting more corners, like alot more corners. Not sure if it was just a mistake in his speech or if he just dropped the ball.
Yeah your right, he'll prolly end up at LSU. I don't really care about getting him, it was just a good come back. LoL
I just really hope that we get TJ.
I got to see TJ Bryant in person. Hes a great player. The thing about him I like though is that hes kept his mouth shut through the whole process and been a man about it. Thats good to see. Same thing with Janoris Jenkins and Brandon Harris. Wherever they go, they will do well for their team and are pretty likeable. I think we both know that the kids that play games like Fred Rouse and Willie Williams are huge attention whores that tend to crash and burn in the end. Not saying Patrick Johnson will, he has a load of talent, but hes got some growing up to do.
PJ can go take a long walk off a short pier as far as I'm concerned. If Harris/Bryant/Telemaque/Hester are all Canes by the time this is over, Miami will be better off w/o PJ's attitude mixed in w/the team anyway.
You want PJ, you can have him.
