what happened with the pv/clintwood game?

PV led by 12 at the half, and then went cold offensively. Defensively, they shut Kristen Mullins down for 2.5-3 quarters before she caught on fire and brought Clintwood back to a 4 point lead. PV tied it back up and went up by 1 43-42 with about 8 seconds to go. Kristen brought the ball up and was called for carrying the basketball. Game over, PV moves on.

..and the folks were going crazy outside after the game over that carry call.

Again,if you put yourselves in the position of letting officials decide the game,ESPECIALLY here in the LPD,then it is what it is. The Lady Wave sleepwalked through the first half,trailing 31-19. Had they played any ball through the first 2,then it would have been a different story.

You are right...She carried it several times in the game..why wait until the game is on the line to make that call??? Oh well, I won't complain and will take the win and get ready for a battle with JJ Kelly on Friday night.

I was eatin a hot dog but it looked like a good call to me.

I wasn't at the game tonight but if thats the case, it's a dumb call. You don't make a call like that at the end of the game when it is consistently overlooked throughout the rest of the game. Personally, I hate that the Refs in the LPD let that call go. On both the boys and girls side, players carry the ball when bringing it down the court all the time. But if you don't call it at the beginning or in the middle of the game, you shouldn't call it at the end of the game. I despise the fact that a ref plays a role in the outcome of a game. I also agree with Indian dad that if the wave would have played in the first half, based on the first half score, it wouldn't even be an issue but still....
Did PV really shut #24 down or did she just not get the ball or what?

She got touches, and missed some shots...she also had a tough time getting open with the defense that PV ran on her. She got hot in the 2nd half,

I hear she is a tough one to defend. I've only got to see her play maybe twice, since I don't live there anymore, but I keep in touch with some of the coaches from the area and get to read a paper every now and then. What D did they run?

the call was a good call, but it needs to be called all night and in every game, not just in this situation...Believe me I am not complaning because it gave PV the win!!!

I completely agree with you! Good luck aganist the Indians on Friday. It's hard to beat Kelly on their own floor.

It's hard to beat Kelly on YOUR floor too. Great run by the Lady Vikes though.

It may have been a good call but if you have let her carry it the throughout the game then let it go. Now if this carry was more obvious and it led to her gaining an advantage then call it. But as some have said the best officials are out there what do I know.

Correct. They will play on friday for 3rd place and then will be moving on to the regional tournament

I do not think so the BDD will only send 1 Div 2 team the CD will send Castlewood and I think Coeburn is to far down to make it that leaves the CMD and LPD to send the other 6

Clintwood got #2 points for the reg season and will get no worse than #4 points in the Turnament. Since if they finish #4 then only 2 LPD Div2 teams will finish in front of them leaving 4 open spots so unless the #4 CMD team can out point them then Clintwood should make the regionals


I think after this season I will try to learn exactly how the basketball points work
