Johan the Savior................
Johan "The Savior" Santana opened up his spring training debut with the already crowned World Champion New York Mets today with a line of 2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, with those three earned runs coming off a 3 run jack by 94 year old Juan Gonzalez.
In an interview with Juan Gonzalez after the game he said and I qoute, "Our BP coach was throwing with more movement today."
I hope this is signs of what is to come for Blue Wahoo and his silly Met fans for a long grueling 162 game season.
I know it is just spring training but the Metropolitans are currently 0-3. God that feels good.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
Spring training does not a season make.
That said, no team squanders talent like the New York Mess.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
I know Spring Training means squat but they way Blue Wahoo hyped up those Mets you would have never thought they would lose a game and here they are 0-3. All I am saying is I can't wait until this happens when it counts.

AA players or not, I'd be concerned with the above. Especially with the rumors that his shoulder's fubar.

Detroit Tigers
2008 World Series Champions
Mark it down folks

Re: Johan the Savior................
Very good possbility. Probably the most dangerous lineup, and they have good pitching. The bullpen is probably their weakspot.

That's what is going to make it so great when they fall flat on their face in September and end up watching it from home like they always do.

what reports are those??
the ones coming from the met haters and yankee fans trying to justify why the yankees didnt want to give up hughes for him
he passed a physical.......if his shoulder was damaged it would have come up then and the mets wouldnt have paid him 130 mil
secondly........if he had shoulder problems.......he would likely be resting it now and not going through full workouts regardless of the team he was on
thirdly......there has been no mention of that by any media outlet up here at all........if there was even a shred of truth to it......the NY media would be all over it
stop bein a hater

Re: Johan the Savior................
What about the fact that you have been to the postseason 5 times since 1969. What about that.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
thats all in the past
its a new season
its a new era
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
You came back with "like they always do, what about 2006"
I was just stating a fact, I know it was in the past but you threw a comeback too me when I said they will choke and not make the postseason like they always do and 87% of the time they are sitting at home in October, just a fact.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
He was just patched up enough to pass the physical, if they wasnt something up with him, The Yankees would have given him whatever he wanted, alas since that great Carl Pavano deal worked out, I think thats why they held back. I expect him to get beaned trying to hit and jack himself up even more.
The Yanks are just prayin the young pitchers keep a float and the slow pitch softball type lineup can bash in enough runs to cover the mistakes of the young pitchers. Until bout mid season when all the suckers are weeded out and they pick up a couple vets to pitch.
Detriot is gonna be the best team in the league.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
tigers are the best team in the majors on paper......hands down
he hasnt been patched up........there is nothing wrong with his shoulder
there are also some idiot yankee fans who claim the reason the yankees stayed away was because hes got elbow issues too
hes fine.......there is nothing wrong with his elbow or shoulder
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
there are also two factions of the NY media......mets and yankee homers
dont you think for a second if there was even the slightest rumblings of any such thing from any major league source anywhere that they would have picked it up and ran with it?
like if somebody from inside the yanks organization said anything of the sort as for their motivation for not dumping hughes and whoever else that the NY papers would make it the back or even front page cover?
damn right they would
the yankee writers would want to bash the mets and their new ace and make the yankees look like heros for not making that deal
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
I dont know where to quote it from, but I had heard it was an issue with Santana. Im sure its not anything thats gonna keep him from performing, I just think it may have been a issue in a long term deal. Regardless, I hope he stinks it up.
I love lookin at these pictures..

Not being a "hater". I hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhate baseball, so I could care less. I do keep up with what's going on and listen to scores and injuries though. When all of the bidding for Santana was going on that was what was being thrown around by several of the baseball media; Olney, Gammons, and the like. They suggested that was one of the reasons he demanded a long term deal. For your first "point" of him passing a physical so everything is fine, didn't Pedro pass a physical when he came? I'm assuming they thought he was fine too.

That's so un-American. Baseball>Football>Basketball. It's really a shame the quality of play at the high school level is as bad as it is around here, if we had good high school baseball here I'd be more addicted to that than going to high school football. Not long though, UVA-Wise home opener tomorrow against King.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
When I was a kid, I LOVED baseball. That's all we'd do all summer long was play ball on the hill above the house. As far as watching it on TV, I'd rather watch two snails [censored]. I might watch 1-3 innings of MLB a year and that's during the series.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
You think the quality is that bad?
I dont agree, I think it is as good as football, this years region tournament is gonna be the best its ever been, with the new district and the changes thats been made you are looking at, the two lpd teams, VA High JSB, Coeburn, and Haysi usually fields a pretty good team. If it all works out and all.
Baseball is by far and away my favorite sport.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
I went to a game last year where I think 12 errors were made. To me thats not baseball. It should get better with the old AA teams coming in but for the most part it's pretty bad imo. Baseball is my favorite sport as well but only when it's played the right way. I really can't stand to watch a game that has that many errors in it.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
I can see your point, I guess it has its high points. Thats how I felt when I went to the JJK/JIB game and they was 18 some runs scored in the first inning.
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
baseball is like the old dude who lives down the street
hes old, out of touch, and stinks haha
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
-
Re: Johan the Savior................
Thats not baseball either, especially for a game that big. You'd think when the top two teams in a league played you'd get a pitchers duel. Not 18 runs in the first inning.

yes he did
and you do realize that this is his 4th year with the team and he was healthy until september of the second season........had rotator cuff surgery and was back late last year
rotator cuff surgery is very common in todays world and isnt really a major deal
