NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Duke a 2 over Wisconsin's #3 is questionable, considering the Badgers won both their conference regular season as well as tourney title (something the Devils did not do)
Temple got the shaft at #12 after winning the A-10 crown
How do you justify clubs like Arizona at 19-14 (my god-even Virginia beat them) and UK at 18-12 getting in. Perhaps name and fan base alone (like ND getting undeserved poll rankings and nice bowls in football). I also am scratching my head at Oregon at 18-13,especially when teams left out have better RPIs than these teams.
Team to watch? I have told folks at work about the Drake Bulldogs from the MVC for weeks now (long before the "experts"). I wouldn't be a bit suprised to see a Sweet 16 run (if not more)

Here's your reasoning on that one.
Had you watched that game and really--the whole Big Ten basketball brand...their champ (Wisky) doesn't deserve much better than a 5th seed.
They'll beat Cal State Fullerton most likely, but I think they'll lose to Kansas St. in the next round (who I'm picking to upset USC in the opening round).

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Don't count the Badgers out so soon friend. If I recall correctly,Michigan State made a deep run ( Final 4) in VERY recent memory (2005). If Duke played Wisconsin today,I wouldn't put any money on the Devils.
BTW: K-State doesn't impress me at all. They have Beasley, and that's about it. I watched them against Nebraska, and it was a painful loss to watch.

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
They lost as a 2 seed to UNLV last year, and that was with Alando Tucker, who gave them their main source of athleticism and scoring. To quote Pitino's rant..."Alando Tucker isn't walking thru that door". Brian Butch, their best player, is a Grade A#1 stiff.
If Kansas St. does beat USC like I think, Michael Beasley will have an absolute field day.

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Duke got very lucky on their draw, nobody they face will have a physical big man.
-
Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Up until UCLA, yes you're right. The two teams I'd be wary of if I were Duke (before UCLA would be either Baylor or Purdue...and luckily for Duke, they play each other in the first round, so one concern will be gone off the bat.

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
im in agreement about drake......solid ball club
as for wisconsin.......they were ranked ahead of both g'town and puke coming into the tourney
they won their tourney and dook and g'town didnt
wisconsin got screwed with a 3 seed

Whats the over/under for combined threes in the Duke/Belmont game? 63

Big Ten basketball sucks. How can anyone watch it is beyond me.

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
I'm not so sure about Drake. They were something like 7-1 vs the RPI top 50, which looks good on paper until looking at those seven wins...they were all against other mid-majors.
Edit: they only played two NCAA tournament teams: lost to St. Mary's and beat Butler.
-
Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Butler is a very solid club. Amazing that they are #10 in the country and such a low seed.
-
Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Sort of like ETSU in the early 90s. In the top 15 all year and a 10-12 seed come tourney time.
-
Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Butler got screwed twice in their draw--once by getting a seven seed and again by having to play lower-seeded South Alabama in Birmingham.
Ranked #10 and staring at another top ten team (UT) in round two.

How on earth did Miami get in when VT did not?????

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
The SI reporter on the link from CNN's website has the best analysis for VT..."try beating someone in the top 50 before march 14 next time...lol...

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Chokie fans always want ya to cry for em when they don't get their way whether they deserve it or not....act like lil girls and then want to be respected as a powerhouse....lol

Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
I see a lot of people jumping on Butler and Drake, but what about Xavier?
With a #3 seed, I see them giving the Pukes a good game, assuming the Pukes get past West Virginia.
-
Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
xavier is a solid team
the only reason dook will get by WV and probably xavier is because nobody in that region has anything close to a big man to speak of
-
Re: NCAA selections ( Thoughts folks?)
Neither does Duke though. I think Xavier takes Duke down.
