Derek: Those two albuns are great, but the one i'm listening right now is Leni stern-closer to the light, try to listen to it if you haven't (it features wayne krantz as well as dennis chambers, lincoln goines, zach danziger and another bass player i can't recall his name). It's a great album, and i suspect that zach was only nineteen (not sure, read it in the liner notes, but may not interpreted it well). Also been listening to Terri Lyne's album, she's pretty good, Ah? [img]wink.gif[/img]

yeah, I've got that Leni Stern in addition to all her others with Dennis. (I think there are two more. Black Guitar and something else)

I'll check Zach's tracks on there again today.

Terri is a great player but I haven't heard her latest album yet. I need to check it out.

Animal from the muppets was KILLING. His drumming was that of Ronnie Verrell, who unfortunately died last year. He was a fantastic Big Band drummer from Kent, England and influenced a great many people, If you want to know more about ANIMAL(!) then click here:

How did I forget ANIMAL! Was definitely my biggest influence when I was about ten. And i do not know if anyone ever got to see Animal go bowling on T.V. It was the first time I ever seen someone bowl OVERHAND! Now that was freakin HILARIOUS! He used that same stroke that was going on when he was playing the drums.

Top five... Hard one... The following guys touch me deep mostly because they ALL serve the music first in their own ways in most contexts.

- Paul Brochu for his musicality, groove, fire, individuality, awesome ears, etc...

- Vinnie for having led the way in so many various ways. An original musical drummer, almost perfect ears [img]wink.gif[/img] and chops like few others...

- Another original, Steve Gadd for also having led the way in many respects. Vinnie would not be the same without having heard Gadd...

- Peter Erskine the Poet, outstanding musicality, touch and self-control (as in releasing chops ONLY when the music asks for it).

- Bill Bruford for being so, so One Of a Kind...
