Gay Marriage??
I know this could turn out to be a disaster, but what the hell let's give it a try.
California just recently overturned a decision to allow gay marriage. Just wanting to get everyones opinion it.
Personally, I could care less. I dont personally agree with gay marriage, but who am I to say they cant get married. Thought anyone?

Re: Gay Marriage??
Doesnt matter to me...gays will still be gay so wht difference does it make?....I dont agree with it but its not my place to judge
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
I'm as neutral on the matter as I am for heterosexual marriage.
Those who want to should be able to.
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
Marriage is an institution that has outlasted it's need or usefulness. Who needs the authorities to OK who you love or live with....the whole idea is medeval and outdated.
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
im against marriage in all its forms
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
Well, it's nice that we can agree on one thing anyways...lol

Unfortunately though, things like some health benefits/wills/next of kin are still tied to a legal marriage.

Re: Gay Marriage??
..and needs to be overhauled.

Re: Gay Marriage??
I'm republican. I am actually against gay marriage but outlawing gay marriage isn't going to stop people from being gay, I hate to say. From a religious standpoint, I totally disagree with it.
Abortion on the other hand IMO shouldn't happen unless there are way extreme circumstances like if it affected someone's life. But this is about gay marriage.

Re: Gay Marriage??
Okay...what if we took an island (Cuba or Hati would be good, hey Mexico would be even better. One gay for each illegal)- put all the gay married couples there , dropped supplies to them for their life. Let them work from the internet, one generation and they would be done. No contact with children, as far as raising them, or you can't get married. One generation should do each couple. Monitored visits with family(the ones that wanted them).

from a religious standpoint, what if someone who is a homosexual isn't a Christian? should they follow the guidelines set forth by the Bible?

I meant to say that from a religious standpoint, I don't agree with it but that outlawing it wouldn't stop people from being gay.

Re: Gay Marriage??
this is an open-ended debate. in my opinion, just my opinion, being gay is a sin and therefore, gay marriage should not be tolerated. like i said, that's my opinion. nobody is going to pose a hypothetical example to me that's going to change my mind. i have my beliefs, you have yours. that is probably the greatest thing about living in our republic. we each have the right to believe the way we want. if you think differently than i, it doesn't bother me.

Re: Gay Marriage??
I just think, if gays want to marry it's none of my business so I don't care what they do. If I don't believe in it then I don't have to take part in it. That simple.

Re: Gay Marriage??
im against marriage in all its forms
marriage is evil
its the closet thing to a guarantee that a guy is going to lose half his money
no thanks

Re: Gay Marriage??
This whole debate is a prime example of how far this country has drifted from where it began, and what put it on top...
This country used to hang people for even thinkin about something like this, (witch hangings and ect...)....Now we have a debate on a forum about how it should be ok...The more of this crap we let go on the further we go downhill...
This country was formed by protestant christians, for protestant christians....Hints the "In God We Trust" on all things government, including money...
So let me get this straight...."In God We Trust", as Homo's, Saudomites, and intentional sinners, allowing, condoning and living intentionally in sin????
Alot of people must know a different God than the one this country was born for...I'm no religious freak, but something isn't right about trusting God as a country, and allowing, and condoning homosexuals to marry...
Maybe there is alot of reasons beind this depression we are heading straight for...
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
you sound like a [censored] hypocrite
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
I can name thousands of "protestant" Christians who are intentionally living in sin. Pre-marital sex, drinking, drugs, cursing, lying, adultery, etc is committed by "protestant" Christians each day yet nobody ever says anything to them. Another example of people trying to use religion for personal views/agenda. Personally I don't agree with homosexuality, I saw two lesbians kiss each other and wish each other farewell the other day. I do think it should be done in private but for me to tell them they are sinners and then go out and commit sins myself would be hypocritical imo.

Most all of those are illegal...You guys are taking everything I said and putting a major spin on it, All I was getting at is shouldn't the law reflect the "In god we Trust" that is on our money and capital buildings???
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
Only one thing I listed is illegal and that is drugs. None of the others are illegal. If were going to do the entire in "God we trust" thing we'd all be imprisoned for the sins we commit. Thankfully we have ( I believe in) an understanding and forgiving God.

Let God judge them not us...whether we say its alright condone it or whatever its not gonna change them or anything...so it wouldnt bother me if they could get married

Ummm, in the USA, where I live, adultry is illegal, and lying in many circumstances is as well, (ask Barry Bonds)...So as I said, MOST of the things you listed are illegal...
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
You ever known of an individual going to jail for committing adultery? Only way lying can become illegal is if you've already committed another crime or are involved in another crime in some way.
-
Re: Gay Marriage??
but that being said, they still are illegal...
If you aren't a christian, adultry or lying shouldn't bother you anyways, it's only sin if you believe in sin...
But at least the law reflects on those things that we as a country do trust and Believe in god, as it states on our money...If Gay marriage is legalized what are we saying??? "In God we Trust", but we think it's ok if you want to totally go against him on our soil???
Let them be gay on their own...why do they need papers???

Haven't we already done that by legalizing smoking, drinking, gambling, etc?

Re: Gay Marriage??
As I said before, as conservative Republican as I am and as much as I don't agree with same sex from the religious standpoint, my views aren't going to stop same sex relationships. How are we going to tell muslims or buddhists that they can't do something that those two faiths allow because of what we don't allow? I can't stop two dudes or two girls from getting together. That's God's job. Even if they wanted to change or whatever, not letting them marry won't make them.
Gays are no more sinful than you and me, you can count on that. We allow drinking, which is limited as you must be 21 and shouldn't be driving and such. We allow smoking. We allow gluttony.
As much as I don't agree with the same-sex thing, not letting them marry will not do anything. Whatever the government does is not really affecting me. I've got more important things to worry about. As long as they don't drag me into this.
When it comes to abortion though, I am so against that and it's not even really the religious standpoint.
