Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
Anyone that we may have heard of on this team?
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
I watched a couple of them the other day practice in the gym...didn't look very impressive to me, however there was a guy that looked exactly like Justin Rhoda (sp?) from ETSU. Don't know if it was him or not. Played with Knuckles, Tim Smith, and company during the run a few years back.

Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
you're missing one, a good friend of mine, Henry Williams, from DB, will be playing for the Crusaders...if I'm not away at camps I'll be there watching
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
That's what the website said...just copied & pasted it.
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
oh no, i wasn't sayin what you had was wrong, just that i know Henry got the invite a couple days ago...maybe the website's info is old or they just don't have everyone
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
their website has no info whatsoever..maybe they will get it online before too long
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
I think a Cobra's playing for them - Neil Rasnake, maybe?
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
he played last time through...this is the same team that was stationed in Gate City 4 years ago under the name Bristol Crusaders...the same guy who "owned" the Crusaders, Morris Hubbard, is running this Crusaders team as well
the last team had Zakee Wadood and Gerald Fitch from ETSU, and the competition seemed decent...but I don't know how it will go this time around
however, Hubbard got into some trouble for not paying the players and the hotel where the players stayed as well as the Golden Corral where he had a deal to let the players eat
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
Talking to the coaches today they say the level of play is pretty good. Take it for what it's worth.
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
Rasnake's back - and I think Stacy Ervin's on his way.
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
I wouldn't mind going to a game, except I'd pay more for gas than for the ticket.
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
Stacy Ervin is going to play on the team?
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
What time on June 6th does this shindig start Double D?
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
I think 7 p.m. I'll find out for sure in the morning and post it.

Sounds cool. I may make it out there.

Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
yeah ervin and neil played on the team a couple of years ago... i went and watched them a couple of times.. if someone finds out about ervin playing shoot me a message.. i need to call him and ask him anyways....
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
i'm not positive but i think they asked him and he wasn't gonna play
i heard that the volleyball team sold concessions and made 50 cents...literally...and that only 12 of the reserved tickets showed up
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
Yea thats true. I wasn't going to put that on here though. I don't think many people knew of the first game.
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
i didnt know until they announced it at the lpd tourny baseball game but i ran out there and watched a quarter of it. i pulled up and it looked like there was a pick up game goin on and walked inside and saw about 10 people. a lor of my friends didnt know it was goin on so i say next time there will be a better outcome.
but as for the game it was REAL sloppy and it wasnt real good basketball. not much defense was being played and i really didnt see a decent shooter
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
there would be a good outcome if they could get players like ervin and rasnake and some other players from gc and norton...im sure a lot of people would love to see the ervins and shoemakers and some other great players from the past

Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
I am sure Josh Shoemaker is making more money playing pro ball in France.
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
I'm sure this incarnation will do much better than the previous one, since the schedule makers do such a great job. 3 games in Ga. - 3 seperate trips. Yeah, that'll keep expenses down.
-
Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
Josh Shoemaker is actually in North Carolina, I'm pretty sure he is selling insurance, I think he was coaching for a year or two
he did make some bank overseas though

Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
ill be surprised if there is still a team on June 6...Henry quit today b/c Morris Hubbard didn't pay for the players hotel rooms and they got evicted
same story, different setting

Re: Semi-Pro Basketball Team in Wise
How do I go about trying out? Is the Golden Corral buffet still a go?
