Car Question

The car had this engine malfunction code today:
P2097, which is Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System High Limit.

Soooooo.... what does that mean exactly? Google is not helping me in the matter....

Make/Model/engine?

Ahhh ok. That's ok then - a lot less creepy when you put it that way. That day I was in the white cruiser - that's basically the one I drive most.

The one with the gauge light on is the newer one (Cruiser #3 lol). Perfect car for hobbit sized people.

Oxygen sensor. There should be two on your exhaust system. One pre-cat and one post-cat.

What might be happening is that your pre-cat is malfunctioning, causing your post-cat to throw a code due to an enriched atmosphere.

Thanks - I couldn't find anything of that sort online. Shouldn't be too painful on the wallet to correct.

Those oxygen sensors can be pricey. A guy I used to work with had to replace 2 on a minivan a couple years ago and it was over $600.

The quick search I did for parts didn't show anything quite that pricey for the Cruisers - mostly $60-$100 range... will check into it tomorrow and see what comes up.
The car must have been waiting on our tax rebates to come in....

I didn't even get to NSSB's post and I knew from your original question it was a O2 sensor. Just from the post catylyst part that is the only thing in the exahaust system that could throw a code there are no other sensors in it. And a faulty one will really cause some problems and replacing them should increase your mileage. The computer determines the amount of fuel to use, and a high limit means that it is using to much and wasting fuel.

Got it in the shop right now - and it is indeed the O2 sensor as you all have said - they're hoping to get the part today & replaced today.

I got hung up in the Memorial Day one. Mom and pops say the one at Labor day is brutal. I really love the area though (job market sucks though)

Memorial Day market is less than half the size of Labor Day market . It's an all day adventure for sure .

Thats the first thing I thought of too. But it had only a little warranty left when we got it - was a program car. At least it wasn't a huge pricey problem to correct.

They have the best Shoney's in existence as well...I almost took my first teaching job there...but the cons outweighed the pros at the time. Nice place tho.

Still, that call was wrong...you can have as many on the LOS as ya want...but the FB's hand was even with the right guards foot...wait that was the st. paul game...lol...BUT the WR from Honaker punched Warner twice...what Keith did was retaliation...the thing that got me was the ref watched the whole thing and flagged only Keith...we ain't gonna get into that tho. We worked hard with those kids man...

I know. I'm just glad I wasn't the ref on that side that night. I didn't see what happened. Truly though, if I remember correctly who was working with us that night, that guy is the best in our association IMO. Although now, he won't get to work in the AOA anymore. You will be seeing him on ESPN, and CBS and etc on Saturdays real soon. Even this year you will get to see him on the boob tube if you get some regional sports stations I would think.

I liked the guy OK...but he flat blew that call. As for the fullback, we had him sitting in the gap between the center and guard...kinda like a power I BUT the power back was lined up at Fb and the FB was like I said in the gap...we ran right where he was and drew a flag...the explanation was we had too many men on the LOS...it cost us a td and we lost by 4 points. I was like...WTF...

I couldn't remember the play exactly, but I know the formation you were talking about. Sarge used to call it the goober set with us. Appy ran it alot too.

If that play had been called correctly we would have hosted JIB in the region finals in the mudhole...and JIB wasn't much better than TS that year believe it or not....that play was the difference between 7-3 and 6-4...Sarge laments that call to this day.

The RC game that year was an abberation...we gave up 2 really big plays..and played as badly as we did all year. Give Rc props tho, they physically dominated up front that game.

If Rc had been D1 that year, they would have won the region..easily.

You may want to check O2 sensors are 100k parts and alot of stuff is covered up to 60-70K even after the 3/36 warranty has expired.
