Well KG has been hitting his shots...Pierce needs to hit his and itll be over...shouldnt be any complaining from the laker fans about the officiating so far its been in LA's favor

ahhh i dont know, im not writing off the Lakers easily because they are just as capable of doing the same thing the celtics did..but if they keep that defense up itll be done with quick...9 steals i think in the first half the celtics are taking it to them...just gotta keep it up

i like what one of the guys said about game 4..."The celtics took the game, the lakers just cooperated"...so far the celtics are just taking it, cant blame it on the refs at all...buts its not over

When Kobe settles for jumpers, not trying to go to the hole...when Odom and Gasol don't even get off the bus, it's easy to say your team is giving it away. I applaud the Celtics for taking strong advantage of it and trying to put their foot down on the Lakers. But the way the Lakers are playing, the Celtics should only have to put their pinky toe on their backs.

One thing I have been pondering on in this seris is that the Lakers are relying on too many Europeans. Gasol and Radmonovic are big softies, like a lot of Europeans, and Perkins and Garnett have exploited it in the low post. Gasol is a fine finesse low post player, but can't bang.

I think they'll be back here next year with Bynum, but their lack of fire in this situation is flat out embarassing.

Are you kidding? The whole NBA is soft. If any of these teams played the Pistons, Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, and Sixers championship teams of old, they would get swept. If Kobe pulled some of the stunts he has pulled like try to go for 80 points against Rick Mahorn, Dennis Rodman, Charles Barkley, Bill Lambeer, Darrell Dawkins, or Maurice Lucas, he would end up with a broke jaw ala Maurice Lucas or he would be constantly picking himself up out of the crowd in the third row. I don't expect the young guys on here to know what I am talking about, but the older guys will know what I mean.
At least though the Celtics are playing good defense something you do not see much of. It is nice to see an "old relic" like PJ Brown have a good game also.
Now though the NBA is worried about protecting their star players and image....(hahahahahahaha!!!!!!) because there are so few. Plus the talent pool is so weak because of more teams and expansion. Just not fun to watch.

Yep almost as many as there were throwing their Kobe worship party, a lot of the same ones who were ready to run him out of town last year, during the off season and at the very beginning of this season.

The reason Kobe settles for jump shots as opposed to taking everything in, is a thing called defense. The reason that some of the others haven't showed up is that defense. I don't think Rando stealing the ball 5 or 6 times is due to Kobe's jump shots. I don't think the Celtics doing the little things, making the extra pass (what was the turnover/assist ratio again?), or boxing out is the Lakers not showing up, it's the Celtics showing up. Give a lot of credit to it being veterans on the Celtics, and leadership.

When the Lakers played their best in the entire series was when Kobe facilitated the offense, he had what 3 points in the first half that game, but 6-7 assists and the Lakers looked good. The Celtics looked great, Pierce was struggling but had what, 9 assists in the first half? Kobe is a GREAT player but he's not a leader, no matter how much he tries to tell you he is.

You are right, Lakers have no comprehension or do not care about defense.....I mean how can you leave a shooter like Ray Allen wiiiiiiiiiide open?

A leader is only as good as the parts around him. Congrats to the Celts. They have outplayed the Lakers all around this series and sadly the Lakers still should have took it to game 7.

A leader makes the players around him better, Kobe does not do that plain and simple...a real MVP does that.

I believe the lakers have a chance if the Celtics put in Sam Cassell. It is pretty sad when "baby Davis" emabarrases you.
Well, I have actually watched a game. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why anyone would say that the lakers were better than the Celtics or predicting them to win. lakers play no defense and the Celtics are a team that sacrificed personal goals to win a championship.....lakers are so one dimensional.

I wouldnt go that far, alot of the shots Ive seen Kobes team hit this series have been because of him passing out of double or triple teams...and Im not a Kobe fan by any means.

I really wouldn't have had a problem if Kobe had gotten a title on his own, or whatever the way of saying that is, since he obviously doesn't think the ones with Shaq count? I don't see Garnett, Pierce or Allen having an issue with getting them with who gets you there. Maybe the deeper look is why Kobe felt he had to do something on his own when you see others coming together to win. Only after failure did Kobe say he needed help

Really glad to see Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce finally get a championship. Pierce deserves it, after the 10 years of mediocre Boston teams.

Pierce got the MVP, he was a stud all series...

He played a ton better than Kobe, as did Allen

Pierce carried the Celtics all through the playoffs.

Here's a Laker fan who is smirking knowing that unless you are a TRUE longtime Boston Celtic fan (like Rocketer),seriously you don't have anything to say because at least the Lakers were playing for a championship while every other team in the NBA (save for the Celts of course) were watching on ;). I said it a month ago (can dig up the post if you'd like) that everything-even just winning the division was gravy,considering that the Lakers weren't even considered to top the Suns for the division,and certainly not the Spurs. Sure I would have loved to have seen another NBA title,but I can win with dignity and lose with it as well (unlike so many on here-bunch of bandwagoneers). Nothing changes. I am still a Laker fan. Congrats to the Boston Celtics. They were the best in the NBA this year no doubt.

Your post itself shows that Kobe didn't have as good of a nucleus around him. Without Bynum the Lakers were soft in the low post. Kobe was the only defender they had. I hope next year Farmar gets more PT at the point, and I wouldn't mind if they get rid of Odom to clear way for Ariza. That would be a big defensive upgrade I believe.

I myself HATE the Pats, and cannot stand the BoSox, but dang I just love those Boston Celtics..

The Lakers need to keep these pieces together, and add Bynum back. Celtics fans & Anti-Lakers fans--enjoy this title. But we ALL know that with Bynum in there the Lakers don't drop but maybe 1 or 2 games this series. Lie to yourself and the rest of us, but deep down--if Bynum had been in there at 100%, or even 90%...the Lakers roll, and it's a known fact.

I_D...Agreed that getting this far wasn't expected by the critics...but as a Lakers fan, you always have to expect a playoff run and face time in the Finals ending in eventually holding up the trophy. The franchise is past the point of moral victories...nowadays, it's championship or bust, and they fell short.

BTW--I still find it HILARIOUS that a Suns fan with a Spurs avatar, and some other dude with a wrasslin' avatar is trying to brag on the Celtics and tell us about basketball. Keep guessing and eventually you might get it right...that's the spirit that's been embodied in both of them. Kudos for having no basketball knowledge but getting lucky picking a champ...that is, after being wrong on several other occasions--but let's not let facts get in the way of idiocy.

And my post was made when? I dont think Kobe made any comments about his nucleus post-game, I'm referring to the last couple years, when he was whining about the Lakers roster. I don't see how when everybody was picking the Lakers before hand, it can turn into poor Lakers don't have anything but Kobe. Most of the same people saying that were the ones talking how the Celtics couldn't stop Kobe and about how great the Lakers were playing in the playoffs (in the better western conference) and how horrible the Celtics were (in the lousy eastern conference)

While I think that having Bynum in there would have helped, it may have changed the matchups and allowed Perkins to have actually play over 10 minutes.He could bang with Rasheed Wallace the whole Pistons series and never get into foul trouble, but against the Lakers, he was carrying 3 fouls about as soon as the tip-off. And I don't think you can say anything is a fact when that team, with Bynum and Gasol, never played together. We've seen teams bring in parts and the pieces never fit together. Maybe it would have all magically fell into place, maybe it would have been about like Cassell, the veteran point guard the Celtics so badly needed come playoff time, and some reason the part just didn't fit the puzzle. Shoot for that matter, Bynum and Gasol may have been great together and little lord Kobe might have gotten pouty that he wasn't getting his proper amount of shots and decided to pout (he's never done that before has he...). It's funny, everybody tries to say that the Celtics were expected, yeah there was talk about the big-three coming together to win, but we've also seen that not work (Barkley, Drexler, Akeem), the Celtics bench was considered weak, they had a horrible point guard, Ray Allen was the suckiest player ever the first couple rounds of the playoffs, they had a starting center who was a mediocre forward, they were pulling people like PJ Brown out of retirement, etc

The simple reason, at least to me, that the Celtics won was they played defense and they played as a team. It can be as simple as Rondo stinks up the joint, the Celtics leaders tell him to keep attacking. Someone on the Lakers stinks, Kobe gives them the death look and they became all but dead to him.
