It's a good move adding someone like Nebraska. They'll never get any kind of respect though until they get people like Furman off their schedule. There's no need for W&M and some of the other teams they've had. They'd be better off and have almost just as easy a victory with someone like Washington, Northwestern, even the Ohio game they had. Even a team like North Texas, San Diego State, or UTEP would be better. It does seem like they're trying to take care of some of those tomato cans by getting them off the schedule in the future though.

I do agree that I would like to see VT beef up the OOC some more. Furman is a good 1-AA school but what the heck? I can see WM & Mary or JMU to help in-state schools but other than that beef it up!
They aren't world beaters but they are 1-A, which does look better. Granted some 1-AA teams can beat 1-A, but it still makes the schedule look better.

I didn't say that VT needed to add world beaters. UTEP, OHIO, and the others I mentioned aren't world beaters, they aren't NAIA competition either.
Do wins against 1-AA opponents even count in your BCS points total? I was thinking that in the beginning, they did not figure into the rating. I'm not sure now.
I don't even know. I just don't like it. I don't like it when UGA does it three times a year, when LSU does it, when Auburn does it, or when VT does it. It's like GC vasity playing St. Paul's jv team. It's pointless.

Why did I bring this up? I cant take the Red Sox, Kyle Busch, Yankee Stadium, or Brett Favre any more. This is not Tenn's toughest schedule, but you're right it would be one of VT's toughest. Football is definitely in the air. High schools start practice 2 weeks from Tues on the 29th I think.

That's not that horrible, other than the opener. They've got UF and A&M, that's not bad. That earns you one cupcake, preferably not that one though. At least it's not Tennessee Martin like one SEC team [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif[/img] .
Do like Florida and A&M being there,and really UCF is not bad,but the timing with that opener is bad. Those fellers should have been the Homecoming biotch.
It's not a bad opener for to get the new staff members acclimated.
The sad thing is that many teams are using the 12th game to schedule a weak home game to boost income. You won't get any good teams to do you a 2 for 1 or a 1 for none. You may get a game ala VT-USC on a neutral field with a big payday for both. VT used their 12th game for what seems like a 50 year series with ECU.
Normally I would say that,but this is a game that is a change of venue,and should be an ESPN/ABC type game (had they scheduled ANYBODY)
I believe the opener may be to boost some confidence before two big games. Other than that I like the schedule.
If they needed to do that,they could have landed Notre Dame :/.
A-would have gotten a win
B-big name opponent
C-you know dang well NBC would have covered it
FSU's schedule.
