Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
Just wanted to throw this out here and do a little braggin on my cousin. I mentioned on here a couple of months back that my cousin was playing in the league this year for the Tennessee Tornado. He played last year in the Valley League that Brad Robbins is playing in this year.
Well, since coming up he liked it so well that he is transferring from his Div 2 school (Georgia Southwestern) to Milligan. He fell in love with the pitching coach from Milligan and decided to transfer.
He made the All-Star team this summer and is leading the SCBL in strikeouts and he current is 4-0 with his win tonight and has an era in the mid 2's. He got a call yesterday from an Atlanta Braves scout and he is going to personally work out for them on Friday at Walters State CC. He is very excited and we as a family are proud of him. I didn't want to post this on the regular board because i didn't want someone to think I was just blowing smoke and braggin, which I kinda am, but we are very proud of him. His lifelong dream is to play professional baseball so he might possibly get his shot.
By the way the Tornado are running away with the league this year, they have like a 6-7 game lead right now with only a week to go.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
That is great news. I would love to see him (or any other young man from this area) make it to the bigs. Give him a pat on the back when you see him,and tell him we are all pulling for him.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
What is his name? Where did he go to high school?
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
His family is originally from this area but his dad is a hs basketball coach who now coaches in Georgia. He went to JJ Kelly and my aunt went to Norton. He went to high school in Northern GA at Gordon Central. His name is Colin Duffie.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
Thanks, I know Mike and Laura. I'm glad to hear their son is doing well. Is Gordon Central where Mike coaches now?
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
No, he left there about 2 years ago and is now coaching at Dalton High School.
He left Gordon Central after he took them to regionals a couple of times and they started cutting his funding (It is a football school) so he started looking elsewhere and was given the opportunity at Dalton and jumped on it. I think that is how it went down.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
if he doesn't make the bigs.. he could still have a very good minor league career... and I'll be honest, I love watching Minor League Baseball.. it's fantastic!!
best of luck to him
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
Thanks to all..... he said his workout went well today and they seemed happy with his workout and that he is on their radar for next season to continue developing and they could see more of each other in the near future. He was also pleased with the way his bullpen session went today and is very excited.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
Good luck to him but I hope we shell his ass if he pitches against us next season. Milligan is improving every season though, they just missed the Region XII tournament last season. They did lose their ace pitcher however.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
I talked with Kings coach last night and will see him again tonight (hopefully I will have a new hat). He's hoping that a kid from KY comes through for him, or he's afraid his pitching will be pretty weak next year.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
If King doesn't pitch well they don't win. I think they signed Roark though? He played at ETSU the last two seasons. TN Weslyean should dominate imo next year in the AAC, Union lost Popham, we lost Jones and Funk. Milligan lost Fritz and King lost two kids who signed pro contracts. After TN Weslyean flip a coin imo.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
I didn't realize that that was Kings first baseball players who have signed a pro contract for baseball. Quite an accomplishment.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
The next two-three seasons should be interesting in the AAC (if it lasts that long). With Kings continued desire to go DII, and Wise and Union considering moves to the Mid-South the conference could fold up.

I think it is great that I will be within a couple of hours of most conference games this year and can watch him throw a few times. Hopefully he does throw when they play @ Wise this year. I will probably be the only dude sporting a Milligan Cap acting like a fool.

Bart played for the Tornado this year too, well, he should his father is the owner but he played really well. I think he his in the mid 3's somewhere with a bunch of rbi's. He can definately swing the wood bat.
How about Robbins, why does he struggle so much with the wood bats. I know there is a huge difference between wood and aluminum but he hasn't fared too well in either summer leagues the past two years. I hope he does well in one next year if he decides to play which I am sure he will.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
We play at Milligan next season. As for Robbins I'm not sure, I just hope it doesn't hurt his confidence going into the season next year. Really blows my mind how much work Brad actually does, he's a full time student, college athlete in two sports, and works a part time job.

Kinda blows that "Daddy's boy" crap out of the water doesn't it? I told folks long ago that he was going to be successfull not because of who his daddy is,but because he busts his arse. Good to see the guy is proving myself (and many others who said the same thing) right.
Re: Southern Collegiate Baseball League....
ive known brad as long as anyone, and he works harder than anyone ive ever met when it comes to making themselves better.
