Saw the midnight show. Overall was a great movie. Heath Ledger put on a hell of a show as the Joker. Two-Face was kinda weak in the end for me but it all tied in to the next installment I guess. Some things will suprise you and the ending was a surprise as well.
I enjoyed and will go back and see it again.
I was wowed by this one. Totally overwhelmed. Being a huge fan I figured I ruined the movie for myself by seeing too much beforehand. Though I was surprised by lots of different things. I'm trying to soak it all in right now, that was a whole lot of movie. So much stuff happens, so quickly. I'm gonna go see it again at least a few more times.
I loved the ending though. I thought it ended perfectly, and a 3rd installment could go in a interesting direction. As of right now the my wowed factor is a 10/10, overall though I'm thinking this movie is about a 9/10 because there were a few things that I didn't care for. Yes, there are FLAWS in this movie. It's not perfect, but its a hell of a sequel and there are some brilliant moments scattered throughout the film. Somewhere in there is a masterpiece I believe.

Ledger was brilliant.
Great movie, I only considered the 89 version and the sequel tops in the series, but this one blow them all away. I', still torn I think each Joker performance hold their own, but this is a darker movie series. I would love to see it on an IMAX screen.
You know I promised myself that I wouldn't praise him because it seems to be the thing to do, though I gotta say you are exactly right. Ledger NAILED the Joker, the writer/director nailed the Joker. no, this movie was already huge without the death of Heath Ledger.
Yes, his death will draw in a whole new crowd.. but this movie already had so much buzz and hype about him being the joker.
Saw it today. Great movie. I liked "Begins" better, but still solid. Ledger was super as the Joker. I disagree with the comments that the movie was bigger due to his death. I was excited about this movie after watching "Begins". His death really had no barring on me wanting to see this movie.
I give it an A- only because I thought the first installment was better.
it may not have been to you, but this movie was no doubt bigger because tons are gonna flock to see his last performance...Im sure its a great movie and it was huge anyway because its another batman movie but no doubt if ledger hadnt croaked there def wouldnt have been as much hype
This movie has had the best advertising campaign ever. It is critically acclaimed and one heck of a roller coaster ride of a movie. It would have been big regardless, though I believe Heath's death did add to it somewhat. I think it was good for an at least extra 20 mil this opening weekend. Though the hype was huge regardless, even before his death.
The fact that Ledger is tits up makes me NOT want to see it.

This isn't his last performance. He was in the middle of shooting The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when he passed away. That movie is in post production and should be released next year.
If I had one complaint, the fight scenes. The first Dark Knight had waaaaay better fight scenes. This one had too many "up close" parts and all you saw was just guys getting knocked down and a cape swirling around.
I would have saw the movie no matter what. The whole cast could have got wiped out and I still would have gone. Hype over someones death in any way did not make me want to see this movie. I believe there are more hard core Dark Knight fans that wanted to see this movie just because of the fanfare of the Batman series.
If the third one is still along the Two-Face scenerio...I believe it is time for Robin to show up. [richard] Grayson....and I hope they can find someone a hell of a lot better than Chris O'Donnell to play the part.
It made $66 million on opening day.
Given the way things went, I'm pretty sure Robin will have to show.
Another thing I caught, and I'm trying not to give away anything here.
"Mr. Reece", the guy who worked for Bruce and blackmailed...
Mr. Reece = Mysteries?

And the joke about getting scratched by cats or whatever...Catwoman?
I don't know...I'm sure after I watch it again I'll catch more clues that my be hidden in it.
And the pencil trick was classic, I loved it.
I thought joker in the nurse's uniform was hilarious. Overall I thought it was a great movie. And that has nothing to do with Ledger's death. If I can I'll go back at least one more time.
Yeah the whole bit as he was walking out of the hospital in the uniform I found hilarious as well.
Ledger looked good as a red headed nurse betty haha..
Even if he had lived, this performance would have still gone down in history. He nailed it, simple as that.
Mysteries isn't "Joker".. you should mean.. The Riddler!
Christian Bale, along with Chris Nolan, have both stated they will not bring Robin into this Batman franchise.
He really isn't needed.
Saw it in IMAX last night.
It was amazing.
Going to see it tonight again.
The Riddler will be in the next one. If they make one.

I am not a fan of the comic book movies but thought I'd give this one a try . Overall pretty good movie . The Joker was the movie period . Batman was way too hokie . Some twists thrown in , good special effects but way too long like 2.5 hrs .

I loved everything about this movie! I Thought Heath done a great job as the Joker! I wish he was still alive! I would rate this movie a 9.5 outta a 10!
I hope they make another at least one more, but I also see the Riddler in the next one with the Joker in it too!

Yep, seen it a second time and it was even better! I have to change my rating to 10/10. The things I didn't catch the first time around(noisy crowded theater) made it a better experience for me. Best movie of the year, hands down. Maybe the best sequel ever made. Godfather 2 has some stuff competition.
Got to see it today and I was very impressed with it. I do have to admit that Heath was incredible as the Joker. It's a shame that he died because after that performance, he would have been able to pretty much picked his roles. I always felt that anybody would have a challenge being the Joker after Jack. Completely different take on it, and much much better IMO.
Ledger's Joker was about as spot on to Miller's Joker as it could have been.
Delightfully dark and delicious.

I thought it was great. I agree exactly with NSSB on this one.
I will say something though, Ledger has set the bar for the next joker. Since people got to see him do this version, they'll be able to almost mimic everything he's done. Will it be as good as Heath's performance? probably not, but it'll be good.

Let me ask a question--just wondering out loud here...
I watched the movie yesterday--and yes, I echo all the sentiments--it was great. Now--Anthony Michael Hall played Mike Engel, the Larry King-esque talk show host of Gotham's TV station. I got to thinking near the end of the movie that his part seems like a bit part for an actor with bigger credentials like that.
Anyone think he could end up being one of the future villains, say, like maybe The Riddler?
Same for Tiny "Zeus/Deebo" Lister. He played the prisoner on the ferry boat. Once again--given the scale of actor vs. his part, seems like a bit part. Think he could be a minor villain, say like maybe Bane?
Also, the_alienist and I had this discussion on the way back--if they decide to bring Robin into the storyline sometime soon, like with the next one, who would be good to portray that part? I vote James McAvoy--"Wanted" sold me on his action skills and acting skills as well.
I seen it the second time yesterday as well. Now I have a question that is over my head here. We have talked about Two-Face being in the next one or the next one but, at the end, isn't he dead? I know movies have a way to bring people back, but the way Gordon and Batman acted in the end, Harvey Dent is now dead. That had a eulogy for him as well. Just throwing that out there. What do you all think?
I think Dent will be back--Dent will be "dead", Two-Face will remain. I believe you saw just the beginning of what Two-Face can be as a villain, and this death/rebirth will make him even darker.
Two-Face is not dead, but Harvey Dent is. They have to portray that Dent is dead, so that Gotham will never realize their "white knight" didn't turn into corruption.
Mr. Reese will end up being the riddler, or they'll bring someone else in and do away with his character as a whole. We all know that the Riddler always tried to prove and rat out who the Batman was. There's also word that it won't be the Riddler we've already seen, it could be the Riddler who did all the detective work in the comics.
