Has anyone heard that

Pound lost their basketball coach. I understand he started at Clintwood today. He was Drivers Ed teacher at Pound. I don't know what he will be teaching or coaching at Clintwood.

What is his name?

Jack Hamilton

Must have been a last minute change - he's not listed on the new 2008-09 faculty on their website yet.
If the wise co. schools website was up you could check the last board meeting minutes to see if a resignation was put in for him.

I think very last minute,, started the school year at Pound...

I think its official. If I'm right, Mills left Clintwood to go to Pound, fairly late, maybe a week or so to go in the summer. Hamilton then applied and came to Clintwood. I believe today was his first day, if what I heard was right.

Hamilton is originally from Clintwood so I guess it was returning home.

So do they have to move into the school district to participate in sports?? hahaha,,, j/k

Pound scored BIG on this trade. Not only in coaching but teaching as well IMO.

yeah its true that coach hamilton went to clintwood...he did start the year off at pound and friday was his last day..i hadnt heard anything about Mills leavin clintwood.

I actually don't know what all Mills is coaching, but he is at Pound. Also don't know what Jack Hamilton is coaching but he is at Clintwood. Mills decision came probably a week or 2 before school started, Hamilton I think started Tuesday of this week, think the hiring was official Friday.

I would assume Mills will end up having something to do with Pound Cross Country (I hope Clintwoods young CC team does not wither and die without Mills there)

I think Mills was slated to coach JV Girls Basketball and Softball this season I wonder if Hamilton will be involved with either of those?

I had heard some rumbling, but never really thought anything would come of them. I guess there is still a "power of the people" somewhere in this world.

Last I heard, Hamilton was helping with football for Clintwood and is teaching PE I believe at the HS and at the primary school.

Mills is teaching social studies at Pound High School and is coaching Baseball.

Official announcement of the new basketball coach will be at Monday's board meeting. I think that is also when Hamilton's official resignation will go through for Wise Co. and when they hire his PE replacement at the school.

That's got to be hard on the kids, getting a new teacher during the school year. But at least it was early in the year.

What is Vanover coaching at Clintwood? I thought he had taken the head job as basketball coach over there last season.

I think an initial plan was to move a few classroom teachers around, but that was axed because it would be difficult on the students moving teachers after the year had started.

but yeah, this is just PE. Not to damaging to the kids education. Everytime I think of PE teachers, I think of the line from School of Rock.

Ready for play is given at at 5:18 on the clock. BJ throws a flag for delay of game at 4:53. Coach hollers: "Thats a pretty quick delay call!" BJ, "No sir, the clock started at 5:18, and I called it at 4:53. You can do the math." Coach with a grin, "Heck, no I'm just a PE teacher!"

HAHA I was one for one year. Somehow after that one year I was told I wasn't qualified.

Every PE teacher or coach/teacher I had during my school years could have given a box of hammers a run for their money when it came to ambition and intelligence.

The only coach/teacher who was worth two shits in a sack was Lee Clark.

I had some good teachers who coached as well..I loved Cecil Maddux...had him for homeroom, Driver's Ed, and PE the year he retired. It was awesome.

I coach...2 sports.

And teach...three different classes.

And I'm female.
