Last year Jeff Gordon dominates the entire season, finishes 2nd. This year Kyle Busch, like him or not, has been the best driver and he won't even sniff the cup.

I don't know if this is Bob's complaint, but it's mine.

Without the chase, it would be getting very tight at the top right now as well.

Don't know if it's been mentioned on here, but the "chase" system has cost Jeff Gordon titles #5 and #6. Under the old system he would be one away from Sr. and the King.

that's true 722. but the chase adds the playoff atmosphere to nascar. the teams have adapted to it. i even like the adding 10 extra points for each "regular season" victory. just like other sports, teams/drivers get hot a certain points of the season. you want to be running your best at the end of the season. look at biffle now. johnson the past 2 seasons.

Yeah it would, and that would be much more interesting. Instead things just got tight over night. I would have much rather seen Busch choke it all away on his own.

That's the only reason I'm liking the chase this year. Otherwise, it's a major dry heave.

how is the chase any different than what happened to the Pats last year? dominated in the regular season.

There is no difference. In most other sports you can dominate the regular season and blow it in the playoffs. Nascar is no different now and it makes it much more interesting and I love it!

By the way, I made this comment a few weeks ago.....

Harvick has put together a nice string of top 10 finishes (like 8 straight or something). If he can keep that up he'll be right there I'd say.

I guess we should do away with the super bowl and the world series and the college basketball tournament as well?????

The Joke looks to be not on the chase but on those who don't like it....

Fact is it makes drivers and teams show you how good they are when it is asked of them, and as we see the 18 team is at the bottom of the list....

My darkhorse going in was Biffle. So far its paying off. In a fantasy league here at work I had Edwards, Biffle and Martin yesterday. Needless to say that worked out well.

The 18 car troubles is by no means a reflection of how good they are. They have just had 2 unfortunate incidents that were totally out of their control....simply bad luck and bad timing.

I was under the understanding a crew member simply left a bolt loose on the sway bar last week on the 18???

Oh yeah I know what you are saying. Jimmies definitely a threat. I thought their pit strategy was going to kill them yesterday but things stayed green long enough that it didn't matter.

You are right, it was a goof by the crew so no that wasn't bad luck.

Have y'all noticed that after that lil stunt he pulled after the Bristol race, he hasn't hardly done anything?

I think JJ is the one to beat still but I'm hoping Harvick comes through! I feel it's about his time to win one!

Yeah he had a subpar run at California, wrecked by Jr. at Richmond, the goof by the crew at New Hampshire, and blew up at Dover. He's going to have to get it in gear.

Supr-beast is right about him calming it down, and now not doing so well....Please refference another driver by the name of Kurt Bush, see what happened to him after being nascar's biggest punk for a year or two...

How can we call it a stock car race when the cars are nothing like the stock cars? Guess someone had to even it up.

Yep I saw the first Richmond race when he wrecked Jr. Actually I don't think either incident was intentional though. I figured Kyle would get out and cry like a baby after he got put in the wall but surprisingly he didn't.

And yeah Kurt got his nose busted by Mr. Excitement and supposedly Smoke as well.

TWO THINGS I would like to see changed about the Chase.

1. if you win the regular season you get your choice of pit stalls for the final 10 races. it is as close to "home field" as you can give them.

2. the 12 cars in the chase be on their own point system. it would make the competition MUCH closer.

I actually like both of those ideas think it would work out just fine that way.

One reason Kurt hasnt won is because of Penske and Dodge. If they don't turn it around, I bet he won't be there long.

that is one reason, but it is among others.... Newman has won at least a little, and on paper Kurt is the better driver

I think that is a great idea, I would love to see both rules be added

Yeah Newman hadn't won in a long span of races until Daytona.
