While I do not like the idea of 5-5 or 4-6 teams makeing the playoffs both PV, Honaker and Lee have all played tough schedules and could have a much better record if they were to water it down
Plus I like seeing a 9-1 or 8-2 team sitting at home even less

By looking at this I see how stupid this system really is, it's possible that CW could beat Burton go 9-1 and Burton be 9-1 (CW obviously played harder schedule) and Burton get the 1 seed. It's also much more likely that PV could outpoint Lebanon with a worse record while Lebanon beat them. LHS isn't playing the deaf and blind out of conference either, Honaker, PV, Giles, CW, etc.
Honistly i think when the VHSL re-twiqed its powerpoint nembers a few years back it was a step in thge wrong direction. (i.e. beating Ervinton at 0-10 gets you 16 points loseing to GC at 9-1 gets you 13 points)
So if you can get a team that is not very good but playes a horrable schedule you are better off (Playing a team like Hurley will get you as many points as Lebanon this season without the threat of loseing)
I liked the +10 model they used for years...take the Division and +10 for each win...+0 for a loss...and points for every team that a team you beat has won. That's simple enough and fair enough.
In that one it is worse get 10 points for beating Ervinton and 0 for Loseing to GC
Nope...cuz Ervinton is prolly gonna win 1 game...GC is gonna win 8, so you get the points for playing them and the points for their wins...so if ya lose you still get 10 vs. 12 for beating Ervinton. It cuts into the points you lose for playing a quality opponent. The way it is now, you get penalized too much for losing to a good team.
If you were average the smartest thing you could do would be to play Thomas Walker and Hurley every year. Due to the district they are in they are always going to win a few games.
Hurley especially..cuz they only have 3 district games and can play 7 sisters of the poor from KY and WV to boost their record...TW not so much cuz they don't win very much in the CD even..lol
TW has helped us out a ton the last two seasons, more than I expected. If Grundy ever goes BDD we need to pick them up again.

I misread your other post you are right the 10 point with Rider points for winning or loseing is better
CW doesn't need to schedule Hurley unless you want to watch the starters sit on the sidelines....lol. As for Hurley's view, why take a beat down when you can play East Ridge, Tug Valley, Betsy Layne, etc and still have a chance to get in the playoffs once every 5 years?
I was not saying that Clintwood should play Hurly but I can see the advantage to playing them
I don't even go to "blow out games"...I'm still yet to see PV play TW..
Which is the down side.....Football takes alot of cash and at most schools it is a big funder of the other sports so the need for wins has to be balanced against the need for huge gates
