Kelly is up on haysi 38-35 with less than a minute to go.
38-38 now Haysi made a 37 yard fg to send the game to ot.
Powell Valley- 46 Appalachia-8 FINAL
Haysi wins in ot 41-38.
Wdic also said clintwood was up either 35-0 or 45-0 it was hard to understand what they were saying.
Tazewell beat Honaker 28 to 7
JIB Raiders 27 GC Bluedevils 13
JJK was up 16-0 at one point.
Dont know the exact Clintwood score but i was told it was around 67-0 that was the final. It was 55-0 at halftime.
And we all know the Burton score this is a thread for todays games.

I honestly felt sorry for Pound tonight....couldn't move the ball at all..and threw many interceptions....
1st string players where sitting the sidelines with about 7 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter..
I felt a lot of sympathy for Pound tonight. There was a handful of kids out there busting arse, and some others that looked like they would have rather been out there taking a nap. QB threw 5 picks, but I don't understand the shotgun being run out of that when the snaps took longer to get to the QB than it did to get the DE to the QB.
Lots of odd stuff that I just didn't think made a lot of sense.
Glad its over though and relatively healthy from it...

My question has to be this, did Wise have a 10 point lead on Haysi with like a 1.30 to go and lose it, was that seriously what happened.
They had a 3 point lead with like a minute to go and fumbled the ball away. They'd of had to punt because Haysi had all 3 t/o's so they couldn't run the clock out. Still don't know why they didn't go into the victory formation to run the clock down or even take a safety instead of actually running the ball and fumbling.
Thats what I've heard Rock..and what was the stats for tonights game Rock? I'm assuming Pound maybe had 50 yards total offense?
Kelly jumped out early w/ a pick 6 and a nice pass play on their next posession. Then Haysi came back with a couple of nice drives for score, then we sort of lost intensity and let Kelly back in it (I think we scored 21 unanswered). Kelly did have a 10 pt lead with 4-5 to go and Haysi scored then recovered a fumble ran a few plays to get in FG range then kicked the FG to send it to OT then intercepted a Kelly pass in the endzone and next play kicked the winning FG.
Real back and forth game Kelly was definately the more physical team but Haysi was more talented, not that Kellys wasnt talented just that their lack of a consistant passing game hurt them. Great ballgame
The only bad thing I can say about Kelly is our QB cramped up and some SOB kept yelling to get him off the field theres no need for that, really embarassing for kelly.
kelly doesn't lack a passing game, the coach just doesn't like throwing the ball. Whenever they did pass the ball they were very effective against haysi. They just didn't do it nearly enough. if they had passed they probably could have put up a couple of more scores. As for relaxing, the Indians were ready to blow the game open with a 16-0 lead, then a blown coverage let Haysi back in the game on that long pass with a missed tackle to boot. bottom line is that kelly should not have lost that game. Haysi's kicker is the best in SWVa bar none, and colley is one of the top coaches around.
JJK vs Haysi was a wild game! JJK had a 10 pt lead going into the final minutes, and I dont' think anyone thought Haysi would turn it around. Several folks left with 2+ minutes left in the game.
After Haysi scores, it's JJK 38 - Haysi 35 and Haysi tries the on-side kick. Initially, Sproles recovered the on-side kick that should have allowed JJK to control the rest of the game. A fumble by JJK, and Haysi is back in the game. Haysi kicks the field goal with 5 seconds on the clock. It's 38-38 going into OT.
JJK takes the first possession in OT. After Haysi stops a run attempt, JJK attempts a pass that is intercepted by Haysi. Colley elects to kick the field goal, and Haysi wins 41-38.
Congratulations to Clintwood.They are truly a great bunch of kids.
As for Pound.I don't think a lot of the kids are gonna play next year.And a few are working on transferring. The coach Is throwing fits In the locker room that would get the kids suspended ...had It been them destroying property.
As I was walking by the Pound locker room..there was a few players trashing the locker room...throwing chairs, punching walls, cursing..etc..etc..
So just can't blame the coach for throwing fits...I witnessed the players doing it first hand last night..
Sure there was a few kids doing It and they probably think It Is ok If the coach Is doing It..
Some of the other players was telling those few kids to stop doing It also.I just think breaking things and parts flying are a lil dangerous that some of It might hit some of the kids.
Prelim stats last night, without getting to rewatch on film and compare with other statkeeper, Pound had I believe around 40 yards of offense.
Since they are home team, paper numbers will be what they have.
A couple of pretty good players for Pound, and I'm gonna sound like Ironlung here, coach definitely has not gotten any better. I don't understand at all the shotgun snaps that take forever to get there. By the time the ball got to the QB, he was running for his life, no chance at all to really look for someone open.
I wasn't understanding all the shotgun snaps either....I don't really recall seeing the QB lineup under center...

The first play of the game, I literally thought the kid got killed. I felt sorry for him.

Don't label us all by the actions of Harrison Jessee please. Every town has the village idiot,and he reminded us last night why nobody could stand him. He's kinda like Dobber Kelly,but Dobber has much more class [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img] If you noticed,folks from Wise were telling him to shut his trap. A classless jerk no doubt. I walked over to the Haysi side to check on the kid ( I was able to sneak away from work for a few hrs to catch the game),and made a point to point that out to some folks from Haysi.
As for Haysi losing intensity,we did the exact same thing up 16-0,so I hear you on that.
No kids threw a fit from what I was told only the head man, and I hate to say I told you so but I have been saying these things about him for weeks. I'm glad people are starting to see it now.

You're right, there was kids throwing fits and I think It may have been kids that didn't even play In the game....haha
I have know for a while that there was trouble from the coach.He Is two faced and I don't have a problem telling him that to his face..

Yeah both teams lost intensity at one point we were up I think 21-16 and let our foots off the throttle

Did anyone see the assault on the fb field last night at Pound? Pound #41 who is 6 ft 3 in and weighs 190 unloaded on Clintwood # 25 who is 5 ft 4 in and weighs 115. The play was a running play to the other side. There was no reason to knock this player down so visciously, other than perhaps make #41 feel better about his performance for the night. I say a Pound player after the game who matched this #41 size with his pads off. He had a Tee shirt with a message of some thing like this : If you are nice you cannot play Pound football. Perhaps that is why Pound players got a personal foul called and an unsportsman penalty and the coach was flagged for unsportsman like action. I had hoped that the environment had changed at Pound, but I guess not. Same attitude , same results. If I were #41 I would get sick before the Clintwood game next year. Someone on the team bigger than #25 might just remember what you did and give you a dose of your own medicine. There are some on the team that are bigger than you and do not have to take their frustration out on such a small player. Watch Out.
for the record....the girl is #25 for Clintwood...So i'm sure he felt like a badass...
