Correct me if I am wrong, but Spurrier's dislike for UT goes back to them not offering him a scholarship out of high school, correct?

Same goes to most any kid from this farthest east part of TN, they rarely even make a trip up, even to look at future NFL players...

If Spurrier hates UT, why did he make the comment that he would've taken the job 5 years ago? The man's 63 years old and has NO desire to coach at another school. He's well past his prime as a head coach.

Lane Kiffin is a west coast guy, he will be at Washington next season.

I don't know who UT will select, but I imagine it will be someone who is getting their first big time head coaching gig.

Funny seeing as how he grew up around Arkansas football and he's had Jimmy Sexton contact UT to tell them that he's interested in the job.

Monte Kiffin his dad used to coach at Arkansas. I said he grew up around Arkansas football.

Plus Lane won't be the coach at Washington, the head coach at Mizzou or his OC will me IMO.

I'm just saying he's a west coast guy, and I would be surprised if he ends up anywhere but Washington.

I'm not really a big fan of the guy or drooling over him. I've seen nothing he's done that really gets me excited. If I had a choice between Washington or UT, I'd walk to Knoxville rather than fly to Seattle. The program is far closer to being successful on a national level, the facitlities are far better, the talent on the roster is better. It's an easier fix. His family is friends with Chris Mortenson and Mortenson has done nothing but push Kiffin toward Knoxville and that was even before Fulmer was fired. He mentioned him needing to go to Knoxville on ESPN Radio a month ago and was back saying the same thing today. Mortenson was also calling him a "southern coach" and saying he needed to be in the south (that's where I heard the Arkansas stuff first). I think with all of that plus the fact that he hired Fulmer's agent last week and told him to tell the University to contact him, that he seems more than a little interested. I've not heard anything about Sexton contacting Washington.

Oh, no doubt UT would be the better choice. I just figured the guy would stay close to his comfort zone. I don't think he is prepared for what he would encounter in the SEC, and I'm not only talking about the competition, but the fans and the passion for football in the south.

Agreed on that. Looking from the outside though and having absolutely no idea what's really going on, it looks like he'd prefer to be in Knoxille. I don't know how someone that young who's never been in charge of a D1 football program and who's responsibility at USC was scetchy at best would handle it.

Brent Hubbs said that talking to Hamilton that he wanted someone with head coaching experience and that was a good recruiter. I don't know if you could really call Kiffin the first. I think they may make a run a Leech. He only makes 1.75 million a year and they refused to give him an extension and a new deal before the season.

Leech would be a nice change for UT, it would take a couple recruiting classes to really shine, but it's not like UT doesn't have athletes all over the sideline.

If Leech is gonna move this will be the year, because I'm sure TT will offer him a nice extension after this season.

I hate the spread. That's the only thing for sure I'd like about Kiffin. I'd prefer a pro style offense.

He might be a "helluva" man, but not so much as a coach. A man, a friend, a father figure, I'll give ya those. He has shown over and over that he can't develop a player.

Cutcliffe won't be there. He'd think he was betraying Fulmer. They won't offer either.
