Mcnabb benched.
BALTIMORE, MD -- There has been a quarterback change with the Philadelphia Eagles that's sure to send shock waves through the NFL. The Eagles benched Donovan McNabb and started the second half of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens with backup quarterback Kevin Kolb. There was no hint of injury from McNabb, as he was standing on the sidelines. He committed three turnovers in the first half and has seven turnovers in his last six quarters. McNabb has been at the center of controversy this week for his poor play and saying after the Eagles' 13-13 tie with the Cincinnati Bengals that he had been unaware NFL games can end in a draw.
The Eagles trailed the Ravens 10-7 at halftime Sunday.

Reid trying to save his job, doubt it works. Where you think Mcnabb and Reid are next year?

Re: Mcnabb benched.
Weren't folks talking about how well McNabb was doing earlier this year?
It's hilarious at how quickly opinions change.
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
He started off hot, but that quickly changed. He looks old, you can see the wear and tear on his body.
Not knowing that rule is also uncalled for. Philly fans aren't very forgiving about things like that. Doesn't make it much better they have been calling for his head for sometime now.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
As for the OT rule, I think it has come to light this week that A LOT OF NFL players did not know that rule.
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
For some reason I don't believe that. Warren Sapp was talking the other night and he said he didn't believe it either.
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
then there are a lot of players saying they didn't know the rule and making themselves look as bad as McNabb did.
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
Maybe they are taking up for him or just joking or whatever I don't know. I just don't know how they couldn't know that.
I don't know why, but I have a feeling Andy Reid is coaching in San Francisco next year. It just fits I think.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
if the niners dont give singletary the job, i would LOVE to see andy reid in SF
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
I think he'll be there, but it is based on nothing more than speculation from my part.
I don't know if they'll give Singletary the job. HIs mentality is definitely great, but I'm not sure if he is ready to be the head man yet.
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
hes not
he cannot do the x's and o's, so he will never be a great NFL head coach
a great D coordinator, but not a head man
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
Agreed. Motivation and discipline aren't enough. I hate it for the guy b/c I'd love to see him get a shot. IMO, that would be a step backwards for the Niners though.
It would be interesting to see if Reid could get anything out of Smith on the field. I think Gore would fit his offense nicely.
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
he could turn gore into a westbrook type force, gore has the talent
i think reid would help most by getting rid of mike martz
he is not what the niners need on offense
they dont have the talent to throw the ball all over the field
youve got me excited now, i would LOVE to see andy reid come to SF
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
Lol well turn into an Eagles hater.
Martz would fit best in college football I think. He could definitely succeed in the Pac 10 or Big 12, somewhere like that.
IMO Gore's talent/potential > Westbrook's
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
martz needs to take his ass to UT, thatd be awesome haha
hes just not a good coach, great offensive mind but cannot communicate well with men
gore can run the ball better ,but westbrook is better outta the backfield
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
I think the coaches in the SEC would eat Martz alive.
But I do think it is time for him to go to the college level. He is wearing his welcome out all over the league.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
Mcnabb 8-18 59 yards, 2 picks
Kolb 10-23, 73 yards, 2 picks
Bottome line..
Ravens 36, Eagles 7
Reid is done.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
You dont need to be a great x and o's type guy to be a good HC. Jimmy Johnson knew very little about x's and o's but he had Norv Turner and Waanstache as his coordinators plus he was very good in talent evaluation when it came to the draft. Singletary would/will probably be about like Del Rio as an HC. Thats not a bad thing either. Theres guys like Norv Turner, Mooch, and [richard] Jauron that couldnt motivate Ray Lewis for a superbowl.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
When all else fails, blame the coach.
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
The Eagles are 5-5-1. They have games against the Cards, Giants, Cowboys, Skins, Browns. They way they played today and last week, that is four losses for sure, potentially five.
Reid has been in Philly for ten years or so. They have peaked with him and are taking steps backwards instead of forward. The Philly fans are anything but forgiving and patient, so that adds ot the fact that they will want him out. A change would be good for both sides I think.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
They could do alot worse though. Cowher had his bad years in Pittsburgh but they stuck with him. Conversely, Cleveland sent Bellicheat packing which turned out to be a bad move. When you have a coach as good as AR, you stick with him and work on changing personnel. My only problem with Reid is his refusal to have a smash mouth running game. Westbrook offsets it with alot of catches but I like New Orleans philosophy of passing to Bush and pounding it with McCallister. Same with the titans two back system. Chicago and SD are lucky to have 3 down backs that can do both really well.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
Someone should " bench" Reid and things would fix themselves in Philly
-
Re: Mcnabb benched.
Get rid of Reid, go after the McDaniels the pats offensive coordinator.
Trade/release mcnabb or ask him to take a pay cut and become the backup.
I think those would be the best moves for the Iggles.

im with ya on not having to be great at it, but from my understanding is that singletary really cannot do it at all.
thast why he didnt get a head job the last go round, and he prolly wont stick in SF

Re: Mcnabb benched.
i really don't like Limbaugh at all, but I thought he got a raw deal from the start when it came to that. As it turns out, he was right.

Re: Mcnabb benched.
He'd be alot like Buddy Ryan...who I thought was a pretty good coach. I'm sure 90% of the league teams would be OK under a regime like that. Definately meaner. He'll just have to have an excellent OC.
