Dumb drivers...

Followed an Explorer from Gate City to Coeburn last night, the only time they weren't driving in the middle of the road was when another vehicle passed in the opposite lane. As soon as that car passed, they were right back in the middle of the road.

Followed a truck from Coeburn to Dungannon this afternoon, same thing. The guy spent more time in the left lane than he did in his own lane. Didn't matter if there was a blind curve or not, he was over there. I was just waiting for someone to come around a curve and blast him.

Drivers in SW VA and NE TN never cease to amaze...

Walmart tonight.. wow.. I used the middle finger more than I have in my entire life... people are idiots, and need to realize they aren't gods.

I hate the roads in Eastern KY, and generally those on it what few times I have been over there.

I think it is KY in general. In louisville, everytime any type of precipitation was coming down people freaked out. The expressways and everythign were always backed up from numerous wrecks.

Preach it, brother. I've never seen such crappy drivers in my life. I work near the hospital over here and I hear at least 10 ambulances go up every day...at least half have to be car wrecks.

They dam sure know how to pull out in front of ya doin 60 and go slower than sh!t and turn off again in about 100 yards.

They do that to me a lot when I am at college. They also like to use the shoulder to pass.

Go to the beach on vacation. 9 times out of 10 if there is a traffic problem you will see a vehicle with KY. tags as the culprit.

No one state has a monopoly on stupid . Stupid knows no state boundries . I deal w/70 mph tailgaters that think they are drafting at Tallegega on a daily basis . No comprehension of turn signals , no clue to an on-ramp acceleration lane and coming up to speed to merge . Changing driving habits due to slick weather conditions is unheard of and applying mascara while talking on the phone in between gleening the local paper and nibbling a muffin is common practice . I believe the only qualifaction for a license in NC is the ability to get to the DMV .

oh lord, you couldn't have been more correct... people are like that all of this country, gah it kills me...
coming on to 4lanes, they fly from the side roads and miss the stop signs.. then boom.. they are in front of you for 100-200 yards at 5mph... I've really come custom to giving people the "california salute"

A lot of KY drivers are bad for cutting you off though. As a student at a Kentucky college I have to deal with this every time I take the car out. When I was leaving Berea Tuesday to visit home I was gonna fill up the car. Some idiot turning left tries to cut me off and if I didn't let him go he would have t-boned me. On the way back from Berea at a different weekend someone in Pineville cut me off at the gas station going toward the hospital.

And drivers all over Berea use the shoulder to pass on a two-lane road. I always made fun of that.

I was going toward Coeburn, and the road to cut up to the new Walmart/bowling alley, etc... someone was in the slow lane, and I was in the passing lane.. she cut on her right hand signal, so I proceede to pass her.. boy did she almost kill us both, she cut from the slow lane, to the fast lane, straight in front of me.. to go up toward walmart or whatever.. I was just in shock..

I never go up that hill, just for that reason.

My biggest peeve is the clover-leaf for 23 and 58,,very few YIELD, I was in the right lane of 23 south, getting ready to exit onto 58, a car entering 23 south never looked, never slowed down,,had to swerve to the left lane and missed the exit.
I ended up seeing some of Nortons police dining at a resturant. I proceeded to interrupt their meal and told them they needed to enforce the yield signs instead of worrying about the friggin fire lane at WALMART !!! I don't think it helped do you??

Actually when doing what you described you are supposed to slow down and merge in behind the car speeding up to get onto the 4-lane. You are slowing anyway for the exit and they are getting up to highway speed. You knew you were taking the exit and should have started slowing way before you got to it and been ready to drop in behind them as you slowed more and they sped up more. That is just common sense.

So it was YOU??? ha
I had slowed down,,but the way it happened, I could only move to the left lane to avoid them...

Can you tell that to all the people that stop before merging onto 23???? I've been behind people that stop when there aren't any cars in sight in either direction.

And what is it with people who pull out in front of SUV's???? I love the ones who hesitate before pulling out in front of you. I should send them the bill for replacing my brakes. Btw, if you pull out in front of a trailblazer and it then proceeds to ride your bumper, wave in the mirror because that's me. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

I hate the ones that try to get in the left lane at a light and think they are going to get ahead of 1 more car by out running them from the light. Go 100 yds and cut back in the right lane.

These experiences sound much worse than any of mine, thankfully. I've only been riding in the "shell of death" for about 6 months or so, however. I know that one of my pet peeves is dealing with folks who don't understand the concept of using turn signals. A lot of the complaints I'm seeing here either deal with that or stem from that. I think it's hilarious that anyone would think that they can make exceptions to signals, as if they think everyone somehow knows or ASSUMES their next move.

Yeah I have had plenty of situations where I was stopped at an intersection and could have gone had I known someone was turning to my part of the intersection from my left.

I am allways coming off of 23 they way you were on my way home from KY. I bet I don't get on 23 towards Big Stone 10x a year.

I hate Scott County drivers. Its like they are never in a hurry for nothing.

So today I was traveling on 23 going towards Pound, in the rain, when some person in a pontiac passes me and all other traffic going at least 90. I didn't even have time to see which model or what even part of his tags said, or what state they were.

On the same trip I'm being tailgated down the mountain - I'm doing about 60 (rain, other traffic in front of me too). When I pass the traffic I'm passing the tailgater shoots off like a bat out of hell, then pulls in front of me and slows to 50.

Funny thing you posted this, elp, because the same thing happened to me and my brother on our way home to Coeburn today. If anyone knows about the big construction zone (where the power plant) is, some idiot passed both us and a car in front of us only a short distance before coming into the construction zone, then afterwards went flying past all the cars leaving the construction zone in the pouring rain.

Its job security for me!!!!
