Career steals leader Rickey Henderson on Hall of Fame ballot - ESPN
Printable View
How many do they normally take? I have went brain dead.
McGwire want get in
I will go with these 5, if that is the number:
1. Dale Murphy
2. Mark Grace
3. Rickey Henderson
4. Jim Rice, his last chance
5. Don Mattingly
6. Pete Rose....... Oh, he wasn't on the list, who cares, put him in.
Replace Grace with Baines, or Dawson.
Henderson is a no brainer. The hawk, Jim Rice and Tim Raines should already be in. Huge Dale fan for 25 years so put him in (B 2 B MVP's I believe, 83 and 84). That's about it. This isn't the NFL.
rickey is in
rice, bert and the hawk also deserve to be there as does lee smith
Looked over Smith. He should be in. He held the save record for a while. He dominated for at least ten years which is what most of the voters claim is the unwritten guideline.
Lee Smith was the man at one time.
murphy, and mattingly dont get in
grace will eventaully but it wont be for awhile
Murphy will get in eventually because in the future, there won't be many names on a ballot due to the steriods era, nobody will vote in someone who they suspect took steriods, bottom line.
Until Ron Santo gets in, the HOF is nothing but a joke.
Grace had the most hits in the 90's but I am not sure he will make it.

only reason it may take awhile is because of all the other 1b during his era
bagwell, galarraga, say what you want but raffy and big mac, jt snow, joyner, will clark
How many of those do you believe should be in? Or better yet, will be in? Don't know if Raffy or Big Mac will ever make it.
Did you just compare Wally Joyner to Mark Grace?
i think eventually both raffy and mac will get in
i think mcgriff, bagwell and galarraga are locks
grace will also get in eventually
the rest i dont think will

not exactly
what i did say is that during his era there were many 1B who were similar
guys who hit for a good average, were good fielder, with average power
grace was the best of that bunch......but there were others of that era who did far more at the position who i think will get in first

As much as I love McGriff and Galarraga, I also believe that they got caught up in the wash of a bunch of first basemen. McGriff quit a few homers shy of 500, right? All those consecutive years with 20+ and that was when 20 was like 35 is now.
freddie finished with 493
hes got more than bagwell
as for galarraga........the "wash" was him bagwell, raffy and big mac
andres doesnt have the roids issue hanging overhead......if the other two didnt have that his road may be a much longer and perhaps neverending one.........but if anything grace gets caught up in that "wash" of 1B because he didnt have the glory numbers or HRs and RBIs the cat did

I loved them all... Grace, Bagwell, McGriff, and andres. I hope you are right. I am just not sure they will make it. I hope that voters will eventually gain more respect for the non-roid playrs. Maybe they should make a "drugged up" wing for the hall. If they do, they should add Ken Cameltitty. Ken and his coke would get overshadowed by all of the big roid guys though.
