If they covered the LPD more I may subscribe. I understand that they cant come over here that much though, it's not a bad site. I use it a lot to read old stories from GC/PV games.
I have it as my homepage, but I can't see paying for it when I can get the same info elsewhere for free. I had a feeling this was coming eventually.
I've often wondered if I started a blog and got 5-10 people to cover games if you could obtain media credentials. I've considered doing this and covering VHSL Sports all over the state. If I had more time on my hands I would've attempted it by now, I think it would be pretty successful. Bob Alvis has a good thing going with his podcast, he like most though (and understandably so) don't cover far Southwest Virginia.
I guess Ron Bliss finally exhausted his 401K trying to keep that piece of crap afloat.
I think if anybody had the time to cover SW Virginia exclusively, it could work.
It would take a lot of man power and time for no monetary gain. Not a lot of people would be willing to help out in a situation like that.
Its all about selling ads. As long as you get that cash flow you could make something happen.
It would definitely not be something that someone could make money at, not in my opinion. At least not make enough money to live. Problems you have is a)getting someone to go to games b)getting someone unbiased to go to games c)getting someone who can write d)getting things done timely and e)trying to get past the point of being a blog or such.
Theres no doubt that it would be very tough to make a living at.
How do you get media credentials?
The VHSL requires media credential applications for events like tournaments, have to follow their rules.
