I went to eat there with my mother for lunch today. Also come out with a 30.00 bill. Gah that place never charges us the same thing for what we get there. Anyone else have that kind of problem with the place? I didn't really think about It today because the I was In a hurry and all. But I called tonight and ask what the total should have been and he wouldn't tell me. He said he thought I was lying. Nothing they could do about It because I paid In cash..
Just another reason to dislike Mexicans....
Yeh they are messed up. You go to pay and they just start punching stuff in. The last 2 times I had to get a menu and point out the price to them.

Don't eat their in the first place, can't tell you how many food poison cases i have heard from that one restaurant. They serve the same exact thing as Mi Finca and the rest of them, wouldn't recommend that place.
The inflation on dog and cat these days is amazing :)
Never had a problem.
Never got sick.
Never heard of anyone else getting sick from the food.
I DO, however, know people that manage to get ill stomach issues from gorging themselves on the food (too many fried carbs and beans and rice and tortillas and such in one sitting will do that to a person). A little self-restraint really helps that issue.
Their VA Health Dept inspections are fine too (compare to all the other local eateries in the county)

It depends on which one you eat at. The one in BSG is excellent; however, the one in Wise and the one that operates as the Monterray are not nearly as good. I have never had a problem with the pricing at the one in BSG at all and the food is always excellent.
Mi Finca is The best
Step-father had to be carried out of the mines because of food poisoning from there, wasn't there something in the paper about them a few months ago? Service has never been the best(lack of english - not being mean, just takes 10 times to explain something) and I wouldn't doubt them adding extras, but I have seen other restaurants do that. Mi Finca is definitely a lot better, like I said the menu is exactly the same.
You want an authentic Mexican restaurant, so why expect perfect English?
They did have a write up against them once, if I'm not mistaken...
but the only problem, I've ever really seen...is the fact, people gorge themselves on all the foods... and can't have any self discipline.
The Mi Finca menu is not the same as the Little Mexico & Monterrey restaurants menus (you wouldn't know though, since you dont eat at Little Mexico - like you already said).
There wasn't anything in the paper about them recently - no food/health scandal if that's what you're implying. Like I said - all restaurant inspection reports are available online.
As for food poisoning, it's not very easy to pinpoint the source without a Health Dept investigation. A person that has food poisoning on Wednesday could be having symptoms from anything they ate from any place (even home - where the WORST food handling practices are) on Monday or Tuesday. Add to that, rarely does ONE single person get food poisoning from an establishment - contamination is rarely confined to a single dish. Typically it's multiple folks, in which case the health dept becomes involved. If he was "carried out" as you stated I a$$ume a Dr or ER was involved? If that's the case then they HAVE to notify the health dept and considering their health dept reports mention nothing of the sort I'm guessing there's reason to doubt the "Little Mexico poisoned him" front.
I only say this because it annoys me when people (anyone, not picking on B13) jump to conclusions and spread rumors about establishments when there's no fact to back it up. This applies to any establishment for me.
(How many have heard the new fun Asia Cafe rumor, for example?)
Who mentioned perfect English? Enough English to be able to take the order should be expected tho. Little Mexico isn't authentic Mex BTW.Quote:

I never said one time I haven't ate there, I have several times - take out and inside. Stopped eating there after that incident, which was about 5/6 months ago. When you come here to America. and set up a business, it should be required that you can speak enough to take my order. Like I said, not being mean..but I don't like repeating myself a million times and having to explain every bit because the person taking my order doesn't speak english hardly. I'm not asking for authenticity, I'm asking for my food with as little h***le as possible...I'm paying them for their service, I want it with a smile and decent comprehension of my language.Quote:

I've seen some mystery meat in the special la casa before at the el potrillo in GC, and I became sick after that. My buddy did the same thing about a month later, and didn't even know it had happened to me. I won't order the beef there anymore.
Hell, I like the "beef" at El Pot...I don't care if it is dog or cat...it's tender and tastes good.

I've seen that happen to people too.
It very well COULD have been the Little Debbie Cream Pies that caused it.
Does everyone in your household wash their hands in hot running water for 30 seconds, up to the wrist and between the fingers and under the fingernails after using the bathroom?
One person not washing their hands, or not washing them right, and then grabbing a Little Debbie can smear their e.coli all over the box for the next person to pick up. (We ALL carry e.coli - just an FYI)
And for more fun reference, the starchiness of certain international food types very frequently causes flares of irritible bowel syndrome, which a very common condition albeit not fully diagnosed (because people do things like blame restaurant cooking for their flare ups). The name doesn't do it justice - "irritable" doesn't quite describe what it feels like and what it does to a person's gut.
A true case of food poisoning can take anywhere from 48-72 hours to develop in the human body. It would not be the night before or the current day, although our general public is uneducated enough about these matters to jump in and yell..."I ate at such and such and now I'm sick...."
These places may have the word "authentic" on their signs and menus, but until you have had mexican food from Mexico, south Texas, or Southern New Mexico, you do not know authentic. Trust me, the flavors and textures of what you get at any of these local places is nowhere near what you will get there. Trust me, I lived in Carlsbad, NM for 4 years, and have visited Texas numerous times. I'll cook you some authentic Mexican sometime, elp6n, and you will love it if thats your thing.
As far as the restaurants here go, Little Mexico and Mi Finca are tied, followed very distantly by Monterrey's. The cleanliness of Monty's has went down hill, and I prefer the other two places. Don't go to a Mexican place and get mad if they speak Spanish. That would be like a Hispanic person getting mad for a McD's employee not speaking Spanish. Just because you are a customer in a restaurant doesn't mean you have the right to be a butthead if they don't speak Appalachian English. Work in a restaurant for a few months and see how difficult it can be and the customers may be, and it will change your outlook on the whole process.

The hand washing doesn't happen in a resturaunt everytime either. It's just odd to me that people believe that somebody working at a breakneck pace for eight hoours or more a day is going to take extra pains to be perfectly sanitary. It just doesn't happen.
Don't forget when your food gets sent back, when a waiter comes in taking about what an ***hole a customer is....Then it gets really bad............I'm sure nobody pissed on the Little Debbie snacks at B13's house.
Im not a big El Pot fan. I would rather have La Carreta. Something tasted funny to me both times I ate at El Pot.
I agree with you about the hand washing...I about had a coronary over hand washing when I was in the business and I'm so glad to be out of it!! No one that ever worked for me retaliated when a customer was an ---hole. Yes, I agree that no one actually pissed on the Little Debbies, but it wasn't food poisoning from Little Mexico!Quote:

Secondly, I'm not mad that they speak spanish..I am mad they can't speak english. It is not the same at all if they were to get mad in that second scenario(unless I am in mexico). They are here, in my country and this is the language we speak. Now, if you are going to start a business here in this country..you need to be able to speak the English language enough to take my order. They are here-America- we are not there. It's hard enough to get my order taken at a BK with english speaking people. But I will say that I have had plenty of problems at other restaurants around here such as Wendys in Wise.
I would say that you are better off eating at home and cooking for yourself if you want to go by health standards. At least you know what's going into it and you aren't to get pissed at yourself - I'm not saying this happens every 2 sec, but there's no risk of that at home. I've noticed some of these places around here and its like thinking "ahh fresh batch from the methadone clinic".. But I would trust myself cooking a lot more rather them some(I'm not saying all or most, but a few) of these people working. But hey, I can't make make my own Arbys Melt or some fingerlicking KFC...so they got me by the cajones and I'm at their mercy.:)
I tried Mi Finca once and despised it. I keep hearing good reviews,so maybe it was just a bad night and I'll have to try it again. Cinco De Mayo spoiled me I guess (all of these locals fall way short IMO)
Chinese food is the food that really busts my gut. Talk about a clensing.

Eating at home is the safest thing if you are super paranoind. I agree, and that is why I usually eat at home or where my wife manages!

There's a good Mexican restaurant over here called Mi Degellado (probably butchered the name). Friendly staff, good service.
Talking about food poisoning, I had two bouts of it in one month back in '05, both after eating from Pizza King.

I tried Mi Finca twice not long after it opened and wasn't impressed. It must have improved though according to word of mouth.
I like the Little Mexico at home in BSG. Every time I am home from college I try to go there and eat. Here in Berea they have two Mexican places "El Rio Grande" (aka Mexican Hardees) and "Mariachi." I know Mexican Hardees is a big hit among the college students. I am a junior and still haven't eaten there yet.
