Word is that Shannon told him his scholly to Miami was no longer an option, to go somewhere else. I don't agree with telling the #1 overall HS player in the nation to take a hike when he's a talented skill position player and you're coming off a 7-6 year, but whatever.Quote:

WHAT? So you would have rather had Oku than Brown? Im afraid he's a cancer as well, but you can always get rid of them if they are, so Im glad Kiff and company landed him. The UT stable of backs is looking better than it has in 7 years or so.

If the whole deal is that Brown wants to be "the man", why follow Oku? Oku did the same thing, prolonged his recruitment after Signing Day, ramped up the drama and decided on UT. Brown simply followed in his footsteps. It's gonna be weird when either Brown or Oku decide to voice in the media w/o Kiffin's blessing that they should be getting the carries over the other guy. The fur will fly then. How Kiffin & staff will handle that? Your guess is as good as mine.

Agreed. Lennon Creer is a guy I wanted at Miami coming out of Texas a couple of years ago. He could have a breakout year too. Between Hardesty, Creer, Brown, and Oku--they're all dangerous backs. Tauren Poole is gonna have to fight hard for carries come this fall between those 4 guys IF Brown/Oku pick up the playbook quick enough.Quote:

Little did we all know...
You'll have to forgive me if I'm skeptical regarding Bryce's word about anything, especially when he says "God led me to this decision". I don't want UT fans to not be happy about getting this guy--I'm just warning you all to take everything he says with a grain of salt, and that way, you'll sleep a lot better at night when the things he feels change with the wind. Don't let yourself be surprised & taken for a ride.
Oh yeah, I ain't saying he is our savior by any means but the kid looks good on film, as does Oku. I don't know who's recruiting trip has been the craziest Brown or Oku. Both flipped and flopped more than a fish on boat dock.
From things I have read, I think Brown has a better head on him than Oku but that is just pure speculation on my part. They are not even my favorite recruits coming in. I want to see Askew, Nu'keese, and Myles. Overall I think we had a very solid class just wish we could have got more lineman.
Kiffin & Co did a fantastic job in the amount of time they had to do it.

Skinny: The Volunteers have produced a lot of top end defensive talent over the past decade, particularly in the program’s peak from 1999-2004. Names such as Haynesworth and Henderson and Ellis and Witten will attract the most attention, but Tennessee filled out its value by producing a lot of steady starting-caliber players in the NFL. Players such as defensive tackle Darwin Walker, guard Cosey Coleman and linebacker Omar Gaither have played quietly productive roles. It helps that Tennessee didn’t consistently produce a string of players who bombed at the next level. Even the guys who had struggles – such as wideout Peerless Price – balanced those out with some very productive seasons. The big knock from NFL insiders appeared to be discipline.
“Haynesworth wasn’t the only one to come out of there [with issues],” an NFC personnel man said. “Between the two [defensive] tackles, to me, I thought Henderson was the crazy guy. There were a few of those types. I think [former coach Phil Fulmer] kind of relished that out-of-control edge with some of those guys
Brown might as well have went there because it was going to be tough at Miami too. James, Cooper, Mike James, Lamar Miller, Jahkari Gore, Eduardo Clements, Brandon Gainer, Lee Chambers, etc. He definietely would have had to have earned it for the next few years just to see the field.
Oregon would have been his best choice. He and Chip Kelly had a great relationship too. Oregon was getting rid of running backs by the day.
