Dude from Oregon will likely be suspended for quite a while. So much for the pre-game handshake :) . Starting tailback LaGarrette Blount knocks Boise State player out on field after player talks trash and hits Blount on the pads after game, then proceeds to about get in a fight with the Boise St fans going back thru the tunnel...... Bull****- a D-end with his helment off says something evil? The guy from Oregon was kept out of his own practices at the start of the season, nothing but trouble. Then he starts yelling back at the fans? How do you know the B-state guy wasn't just saying the Ducks played well and tried to come back? I'd have him put in jail. He had been talking about opening a can of " whoop-a$$" on B-state all week, according to ESPN.Quote:

Blount shouldn't have lost it, but Hout shouldn't have went straight at Blount, like he obviously did, and even if he said nothing out of the way, the way he went right at Blount was enough to light the fuse on a guy that's already ready to blow up anyways.
Hout should have enjoyed the win and celebrated with his teammates, not ran straight at Blount and said something in his face. Blount did talk a bunch of smack before this game, but that doesn't excuse Hout trying to provoke Blount.
Really, what would have hurt Blount more and Hout's glass jaw less, is if Hout would have kept his mouth shut towards Blount and celebrated with his teammates. But he made a dumb move and got KTFO.
I blame both guys just as much as the other. And the Boise fans deserve some blame too--you can see several Boise fans yelling "f*** you" and the like at Blount as he's being restrained by a coach, so he's already out of control--what do you think's gonna be Blount's response to fans trying to egg him on?
spuds I doubt the guy from Boise St was just saying "good game". In another view it shows he was right in his earhole and then slammed down on his shoulder pads...... I am in no way defending what the dude from Oregon did but you got to win with class and lose with class.
Dude from Oregon should have just walked away.......but he didn't
Neither were innocent in this matter but it was a great way to kick off the college season. :D
Part of the game- get his stuff and get off the field. Talking and punching are 2 different things. Remember that when someone hits you. Ya know, just take credit for it yourself and walk off , don't try to hit the guy back. That is real logic.Quote:

Like said before he did what almost everyone else would have done. But he's too good of a player to be going around knocking people out. Other players and teammates.
Just to clarify things a bit...I'm not defending anything the Oregon player did other than punching the Boise player. The rest of that tirade was nothing short of pitiful. But, the DE that got punched wasn't exactly an innocent bystander...and once he laid his hands on the Oregon player in an attempt to put an exclamation point on his trash talk he should have been prepared for the repercussions. Like a wise old owl once told me: "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones, and those who talk trash better not have a glass jaw"..lol
Of course the Oragon player is now a marked man the refs will be watching closer and the players from other teams now know that he is someone that will lose his cool when provoked

Ah,you gotta be bigger and better than that IMO. Yeah,the dude shouldn't have been talking trash and disrespecting,but to go thug and sling soupbones isn't the way that you conduct yourself as a man. That right there is what gets you in a jail cell. Everytime something hits you in life that makes you angry,you're going to fight? Maturity will hit him one day perhaps. There are times when a man is justified in throwing a punch (examples being when somebody brings it at you,protecting folks...etc),but to throw a punch over a taunt at a football game (which in the grand scheme of life is meaningless) is absurd.
It's a sporting event...tempers flare all the time. It's not like these guys are fighting in the parking lot or something. It's not like we don't see fights every year in baseball, basketball, football, hockey,..even NASCAR. What I'm saying is this: It's not out of the ordinary so really, what's the big deal ? You're not seeing the bigger picture. It isn't about political correctness. What it is about is getting an awesome priveledge,yet knowing that there are responsibilities that accompany that priveledge. Oregon gave this young man a gift,but part of the deal is that he conduct himself with class and dignity. If they booted him,I'd understand. It also just isn't a football game: It's a nationally televised event where young,impressionable youth are watching (if not live on Sportscenter later). This tells my young sons who are playing football "If somebody talks smack,go ahead and punch them",and I'm not cool with that. I am cool with sportsmanship,and letting the pads do the talking. The dude's team failed at that (btw the taunter did more than his share of wrong as well,and I don't pity him for getting decked-maybe he will learn as well,but it still didn't give Rocky the right to swing).
Whatever...I never said it was right, but this stuff happens in nearly every sport quite frequently...but y'all folks (and more importantly ESPN) know how to make a mountain out of a mole hill...It's ridiculous IMO. I guess everything anymore has to have a lesson attached to it, but as long as everybody gets a trophy, all's well.
Dude it isn't about getting a trophy. It's about doing things the right way. No need to get defensive (sure isn't like me and you haven't disagreed before). You teach yours to do things/live life your way,and I'll teach mine. BTW: If there aren't lessons attached,how do we learn and grow as people? I don't know about you,but I like to think that I am still evolving,that everytime I look in the mirror,I try to be better today than yesterday. If we can't do that,then what is this life for?
I'm not gettin defensive...I'm just trying to figure out for the life of me why this even matters.. It was minor IMO. It has no bearing on anything..no one got hurt, killed, etc. One guy ****es one off and gets hit...that's all. What's so important about that? What urgent message am I missing?

Really, there's nothing to get except that society has come to the point that a guy getting punched in a football game is a travesty just cuz ESPN says so..I've seen worse fights at practice than that.
