PV visits Ralph Cummings Stadium

PV needs to stay in this one early, I can see us getting a somewhat big head after last week. Obviously, since they won last week this game is more important and it gives the winner a big edge in the LPD race, especially if PV wins as they would be 2-0 over the other big threats with only JJK to come.

I've not seen CW play so it's really hard for me to gauge this, like most games around here it will come down to line play. I could see PV running the shotgun a little bit more and get Burke and Fannon on the field a little bit more. I'm picking CW by a score but could see PV winning the game, especially if they come out as they did early last week. One of the things that impressed me with the JIB game was how we overcame hardship early, they got an onside kick, a punt rolled into us and JIB recovered, and then JIB scored to go ahead, and we didn't fold.

From what I have seen so far this season PV will need to be able to throw the ball but if they can do that they should be able to move the ball on CW.......On the other side of the ball CW is more comfortable running the ball but can pass it (although not as well as they need to)


I think it should be a tight game and a good one to watch

PV in all honisty probably needs to win the LPD or beat GC to make the playoffs (I am thinking Honaker is the BDD fav right now

CW does not need to drop to 3-2 with undefeeted SV ondeck

Could we make it in if PV loses to CW and GC, but beats JJK, Pound and Appalachia?

With Pound having a decent record this year, and Appy having a few more wins, is it possible?

If Honaker wins the BDD, we would probably have to beat CW or GC, along with the other three, correct?
If Haysi does, could we get in just beating Wise, LB and Appy?

I feel we can beat CW, itll be a dogfight, and CW is at least a 10 point favorite.
If PV can make some big plays in the passing game, they can win.
CW will probably win, but if PV can stop the run and open up their offense and score some points, they can definetley win.

I dread it, having to drive up there, and walk forever. I never seem to find parking up there, and I hate the away stands.

Last time I went it rained, hope it doesn't again.

The rain helped us this week, but I don't see it helping us at all next week.

The points situation is just starting to take shape, Virginia High has at least two more losses coming and JJK can get get burnt of course they just have to beat PV, JIB, or CW to really put themselves in a good spot to get in.

The parking sucks big time. We always end up having to park in the town and end up with a long walk just to enter the stadium. Same thing happened at Lebanon last week versus Gate City because we got there a little late. I'll be there at this game, though, and hopefully we'll find a good parking spot that isn't 40 miles away from the game.

Yes but Kelly, VHS or Lebanon would need to drop some games that they should not lose and Honaker can't win the BDD (Just be glad Coeburn did not end up beating TW ot Div 2 could be alot messier)

PV WILL get in the playoffs at 7-3 and they can get in at 6-4 but 5-5 will not cut it this season

That being said PV is as good as anyone left on there schedule (with the exception of GC)

Not so much Haysi is the only team that can beat them and they seem to get worse and worse every week.....Hurley is the only other team in the BDD with an outside shot and they dropped one to eastridge eairlyer this season (Honistly I am not sure that anyone from the BDD should be in the postseason this year)

Rough day I guess. Making all kinds of mistakes.

As of right now our crew got this coming Friday off. Unless I fill in for someone, I had been trying to debate between JJK/RC, or Bluefield/GC. The PV/CW game is intriguing to think about watching though.

I'm not sure if they are still doing it, but a few times last year they had parking at the baptist church and did a shuttle service. I guess its due to getting there so early, but from what I know, the best way to park is to go down past the field entrance, be it at the high school, or in the parking lot now across from it, and hoof it up the sidewalk. Not that far of a walk, actually not much more than I normally got parked about anywhere else. Its normally not horrible to get out of that way, except when you get stuck with the traffic direction at the redlight coming out of the field.

Clintwood definitely missed Dotson last week versus Lebanon. I expected it but to me it appeared they missed him more than early assessments. I'm not sure he's playing this week but even if not, I do expect them to fill the spot a bit more easily, just due to the players having more practice time in the spots. To me, Clintwoods ability to finish tackles and actually just make a few more 3rd down plays, be it offensively or defensively, are the keys for them. Having not seen PV, but from what I know, I would think there key is being able to get Pinkston out in space some.

Pinkston hasn't broke many this year, he's got most of his yardarge inside the tackles. I'll be curious to see if we come out and run it right at you like we did against JIB, we were pretty succesful at running Rentrforw for 2-3 yards, Pinkston for 3-4, and then Rentrfrow for another 2-3. If we were short it is like 4th and 1 and they can pick it up. Plus, we've got the ability to throw it enough to keep people honest. If Dotson doesn't play I like our chances a lot better than what it would be if he plays.

Honistly I hope that is PVs game plan Clintwood is very good at stopping the run between the tackles

What scares me is Pinkston in the wildcat IMHO that and the split backfield are there 2 best formations

I'm a big fan of when we go split backs, have told several people throughout the year that I do not feel we use it enough. This week I'd use that as my short yardage set and my base set on offense would be that dreaded "S" word that PV fans hate.

I think that would be a good game plan against CW

That's one thing PV has going for them...they can run multiple offenses to go against what their opponent's strength on defense is...I'd say Friday will be interesting. It's hard telling what PV will run.

You almost said you wanted us to run the spread.

The spread may work really well this week.

Counts said that CW's weakest spot on defense is their pass defense, so if PV can go on that and utilize all their offensive talent, they may catch CW off guard and be able to move the ball.

PV won't be able to line up and pound the ball on CW like they did against JIB. CW's strength is always their line, offense and defense.
PV has to play to their strengths, their athletes and speed, and have some big plays.
They cannot get to the red zone and stall out, they will lose. You have to score when you're that close. For PV to win, they will have to do better when they get to the CW side of the field.
CW won't be as mentally weak as JIB was.

Nope...just implied that if they need to pass the ball, they already know the spread...but now that they have a conventional offense to get the tough yards and establish a physical presence, It won't pain me nearly as bad to see them line up in the spread occasionally. I hated it when that was all they had to turn to.
