The canes are back!

Under the Hokies heel where they belong. I guess the arse whipping some of the Cane fans on here were looking for got reversed. I could see this one coming all week with the ESPN love orgy for Miami, the Canes jumping VT in the polls, and the embarrassment of the O being the butt (rightly so) of the commentators jokes covering the Nebraska game. As for now the ACC still goes through Blacksburg and most had seemed to have forgotten that 4 of the 5 ACC titles since ACC expansion have included the Hokies.

I for one am glad VT won. It makes the Bama beating seem even better!

Now for the Canes to put a whipping on those Sooners!! Plus it looked like the Tide really rolled the Hogs today!!

They did in the 2nd half, the 1st half was a really tight game

But Mallet looked very average today, not like he did last week

The Bama D is a lil bit better than UGA tho, VT fans agree I'm sure lol

No doubt the best D that VT will face all season hands down.

Someday when my young son's elderly grandson is sitting around watching the evolution of TV to whatever he'll be watching,and the Hokies win that 1st national title-EVEN if Miami NEVER wins another by then,Tech will only still be a handful behind THE U. Best of luck winning the ACC Championship,but it means nada (about like winning the Cumberland Distric). Tech de-pantsed Miami today (props to them). That happens from time to time,but I've seen Miami do their share of that to folks over the years,and they have the only hardware in the 'ol trophy case that REALLY matters,and they've got plenty of 'em:)

And by then no one will even remember the Canes even won one if they never win another. If it's any consolation I'll be pullin for them next Saturday night.

Hats off to VT, they wanted it more. I was there all weekend, and word I got from some of our crew that met up w/the team at their hotel in Roanoke was that the team looked intense, but not really focused. I got the same vibe from the Miami fans I met up with all weekend, like they were all looking past this game. Looks like the team did the same thing. The weather certainly didn't help things either BUT--as I said to people who said that, both teams had to play in it.

You have to remember, for the juniors/seniors that are playing for Miami, 53 out of the 80 kids on the roster are freshmen/sophomores. I'd say that our youth, for all it's precocious talent, still has it's disadvantages of being inexperienced. Even besides that, in the past few years--Miami is prone to having a big let-down after winning big games--beat FSU/GT, lose to VT. Last year it was beat VT at home, go up to GT and get spanked.

Miami had chances to make plays and stay/get back into the game, and they didn't capitalize when VT gave them an opening. VT did capitalize when Miami gave them an opportunity--so, hats off to them for doing so.

I can say this in favor of Miami though--if you went to the game and talked to VT fans, you'd be hard pressed to find one that would say they expected a win like that over Miami. Most all I spoke to expected Miami to come in and roll.

Bradley...FYI VT has 47 freshman/sophomores on the roster. The skill positions are exclusively underclassmen. So you can't use the excuse about being inexperienced.

I attended the game and can testify that Tech beat Miami in every aspect of the game. If they were to play 10 times, Tech would win 8. Tech is just too physical for the canes.

P.S.
I'll be pulling for the Canes the rest of the year (I was a Miami fan before you knew what a football was).

I want some of whatever your smokin. VT is but a blip on the national title map with 1 appearance and maybe 1 other threat of even making it to the title game.

What have we won?...a game on Saturday...and that is a hell of a lot more than U can say...

Also, since '93 we haven't missed a bowl game...seldom have we been outside of the top 25...we have been, year in and year out, consistently one of the best programs in the nation...and done it all with one Head Coach...

I'm going to check, but I think since we have been in the Big East together and now the ACC together, Tech has won more games head to head with Miami...I will let you know shortly...

Yep...we have 10 wins and 7 losses head to head against Miami since both teams have been in either the Big East or ACC..we own the U.

I love VT fans, because they do a very good job of arrogance without basis.

For a school that has NEVER won a national title, only time they played for one, they got rolled (46-29), and that was with the best player that has ever played at VT.

I was nice and courteous on here when Bama beat VT, because I knew hardly any VT fans would actually come out and post.

Yeah, you had a good win at home against a good Miami team.
But you got smacked in the mouth in Atlanta, by a better team.
Why get on here and posture and thump your chest, when you may win the second worst BCS conference and got beat soundly by the best team they will play all year.

So celebrate and be joyous over your win against an ACC team, but just know that the SEC, specifically Alabama, is better than you are. The score might have been close, but Alabama held a 498-150 total yard advantage.

Giving up 500 yards of total offense to a team that is defense-first? L---O---L!

I only ask because I was at the game and started tailgating around 7am that morning, and I spoke to several fans/alums from VT that were tailgating around our section of the Prices Fork lot...and that was the normal opinion that before the rain that VT was probably gonna get rolled by 2-3 TD's. Even after the game, I had several friends/family that are VT fans texting me saying that they were VERY surprised by the outcome, thought that Miami would come into Lane and win. Don't get me wrong, they shook their keys, gobbled/yelled their heads off, and supported VT with everything they had--but they weren't expecting a win for the most part.

I try to be graceful in a win or a loss, and try to represent Miami as a fan in that fashion. You should try it for a change. Why? Because when you run your mouth--like below--someone (me, this time) has to bring you back down to earth.

"Own" us all you want, until you own FIVE National Titles, your history (if you can call "since '95" history, lol) means two things in comparison to Miami: jack & squat.

So, what's your first Michael Vick memory? I'm pretty sure I can't ask you about any other player before that, i.e.--Ken Oxendine, Jim Druckenmiller, Bruce Smith, Carroll Dale, etc...see, I can respect alumni and hardcore fans who have followed VT through the lean times and since before they were a national program--it's the type of fan that you obviously are that I hate.

They don't know their history, and they don't know how to handle any win with grace, they just know that their "colors are pretty" and "we've been good since Michael Vick". They say "this team is full of good ole mountain boys", when most are from the Tidewater. It makes me fargin sick to think that a team can have a fanbase where the majority of their fans are like that--and they wonder why other fanbases hate the team and the VT fans that are like you with a passion.

And since you don't know WTF you're talking about, either that or actually looked up the numbers you talked smack about and decided not to post them b/c you realized you were WRONG: Miami, after Saturday, still leads the all-time series 17-10, and since 2000, the teams have split the series 5-5. So yeah, we're pwned alright...I'll just have to cry about how bad you pwn us, then start smiling really big again knowing that beating Miami is as good as it's ever gonna get for a VT fan like you as I look at the 5 National Title trophies we've won in our history, and all the guys that are major ball-players in the NFL today that are Canes. Like I said, the only numbers that matter to me are National Titles. That's something a VT fan (even old school ones like you) can't understand. Miami's your Super Bowl every year, and really the main focus whether the team says it or not. You're happy with conference titles--big fargin whoop. For instance, I could say "yay we beat FSU"...but what's that matter? Just another win in a series. It's not a national title, nowhere near it.

Enjoy your win, but keep it in perspective. While fans like you (and maybe even some players on the team) are celebrating a Miami win like you just locked up a title, you don't realize that you're 6th in the polls and need to focus on the rest of the season in order to have a shot at a national title--which is what actually, really matters. I normally don't brag when another team loses, but you just made yourself my special project. When they lose--expect hell from me to you. Come back here and tell us about all the stats against Miami, tell us about how you pwn Miami, and then try to backtrack and explain why you lost to GT/UNC/some other team. You just put yourself between a rock & a hard place.

If both teams run the table, Miami has the better win.
Both teams have played one top 8 opponent;
VT got hanlded, Miami won.

Id be more worried bout giving up 400 yards of offense to DUKE than worrying about what Miami does.

And the Hokies handled then #9 Miami fairly easily. If both win out I doubt UM passes VT. But the winning out is a BIG IF for both. And OK may just not be as good as expected. Beaten by a mediocre BYU also. But losing Bradford was a huge blow to them.

I don't think OU is great either, and if they lose another one Miami's win will fall hard.

With Bradford, they are a top 5 team, without barely a top 20 team.

My point was Miami beat #8, VT beat #9, so Miami has the better win right now.
But theres tons of different variables of what may happen, so you never know.

And the biggest variable for VT is which team will show up on game days :D the one that played so well against the Canes or the one that came out flat and got all it could handle from Duke :confused:

Last year was my first trek down to Miami. I was there for the home opener against Charleston Southern, went on a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale the week before the game. I went to campus and spent some good time there, really enjoyed it a lot.

Keep in mind me and the wife drove 15 hours or so, down to S. Florida just to do the cruise and see the game and spend some time on campus. 15 hours or more is a lot further down the road than it is to get to Blacksburg from here--so I don't wanna hear any BS about how you've been to Blacksburg more often than I've been to Miami. It's a bit more difficult to just say "I'm goin to Miami" w/o organizing a formal vacation/trip unless you're just a high-roller.

And to catch you up on something a lot of people know on here, I almost went to Miami. I had a partial academic scholly to go there, and just about pulled the trigger on it. BUT, I looked at the expenses involved, and what kind of local college offers I had, and decided to stay home and commute to UVAW. BUT--Miami's been a big part of my life since the fargin Hail Flutie game--first game I ever watched & remember most of when I was little, and I came out of that being a Miami fan. I've been through the probation era, and have learned plenty about the program's past pre-Schnellenberger and all the success, dating back to your guys like George Mira, Ted Hendricks, Chuck Foreman, Rubin Carter, and Frank Smith.

And I think that was one of the problems with VT getting beat. Just not ready to play and GT handing them their arses. You'd think kids would learn that just because one team that you beat has beaten a team you're getting ready to play doesn't mean you will win. I saw the same thing almost happen to GC Friday night. They got up quick on VHS 14-0 and just about quit. Had no fire and almost got beat. But back to VT, it's the same old story. Chance to actually prove something and, well, they CHOKE plain and simple. I'm a big VT fan but the truth is the truth and it's pretty disappointing to say the least. :mad: I know VT isn't on the level of a UF, Bama, Texas, or USC but heck, if they could luck into the title game you know that old saying...Even a blind squirrel can find a nut every once in a while :D
