I agree with GC beating PV. I don't think Wise will send anyone home.
kelly can certainly beat lebanon and gate city. ive seen both teams and the div 2 will be a fun playoffs to watch.
lebanon barely got by John Battle, id pick JJK over LEB right now
I definitely think Kelly can beat Lebanon.
Honestly Kelly is playing very well right now. If they don't lose momentum they will be a tough out for anybody.
JJK>Lebanon
GC>PV
GC/JJK will be a battle. Winner goes to get beat by 40+ by Essex.
No way a Houseright team gets beat by 40. ball control, time management - GC may get beat, but not by 40. That's laughable!
what was the state title score against Gretna??
GC's rude? What are you saying? Bill Houseright is a great coach, and above that, a great man. No way any team beats his team that bad.
and do you really think this year's team is better than the team that got railed by gretna?
you are insane
Teams not rude but when your fans are making racial comments to the other team before the game starts it gets ugly. I'll dig up the posts pre 07 when I predicted an epic Gretna beatdown.
Better coaching. And that, my friend, is the bottom line of high school football. The reason pv sux, gc is on the upswing.
haha, i guess you really are mentally handicapped
i would GUARANTEE no other local coach, with pv's schedule and talent, would win more games than PV did.
its solid, granite holmes.
keep racking up your region d titles in horribly down years, hope you enjoy it.
we all you know you cant play with the big boys upstate, you saw what happened with gretna, and that team would beat this one by 2-3 TD's.
i guess better coaching is more football state title rings than your whole program, wouldnt that be true?
Team may not be better, but the coaching staff has vastly improved.
Robbins was blessed with talent, and thats why he won state titles. He hasnt done nothing since barry jones left, and he wont do anything else. Phil cant coach, will never be able to coach. He can't develop talent. He has the largest class in pv history, and only has 11 of them on his squad. I deem him a piece of crap-as a coach, a teacher, and a mentor.
talent alone doesnt win sh1t. we see it every year. look at every sport, if you cant control and shape talent it means absolutely nothing.
phil has seven friggin rings. SEVEN. so you are telling me a terrible coach can still somehow win SEVEN state titles? you are either completely blinded by moron, or just stupid.
largest senior class, what the heck does that count for? if kids dont play or cant play, thats not a coachs fault.
so phil will keep winning district titles, when being LESS talented than two, arguably three district teams.
people can call phil whatever they want, but they CANNOT call him a bad coach, unless they allow people to consider them absolutely clueless. clueless.
Phil has won a ton, but he also is normally going into a knife fight with a gun most years. His ego costs him and has probably cost him another couple rings. It's definitely appeared at least to be a case of the inmates running the asylum there the last several years, that and a bit of overhyping teams and/or players.
Nick Colobro was a terrible coach? Care to elaborate?
im sorry but i dont agree at all
people always seem to try and argue that, everbody makes mistakes, these are kids who deserve second chances. when someone goes too far, they go. phil has proved that.
i also dont see how PV has drastically underperformed. pv has made the playoffs every year since 1991. lpd titles, region titles, state appearance in 04, and add 7 state titles, i have a hard time buying phil's ego has cost him a great number of games
I think you said some of it yourself, if kids don't play. A lot don't play because of him. Phil is sort of Kilmer from Varsity Blues. He thinks of Phil first, and the kids last. Again, most years, Powell Valley is going to be one of the bigger dogs around. And yes, the players deserve a crap load of credit for not giving up this year, if you want to give him credit for keeping them there, that's fine, but not to down a player, but didn't PV start winning more after they stopped trying to force a player to succeed? At least once they were off the team. That's not downing the player either, that's the coach trying his hardest to prove he knows more. That's been what Phil's issue has been at least IMO. I think it may just be to the point where he has nobody on staff that will disagree.
