WASHINGTON -- A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine a national champion, over the objections of some lawmakers who said Congress had more pressing matters on its plate.

Congress is waisting time working on FORCING the NCAA to have a playoff, which is absurd by itself.
I cant believe this.
Its like steroids in baseball, they waste time on stupid trivial sports instead of real issues.
Its also nuts that they could actually force the NCAA to have a playoff. What is it to Congress?
People are all for it, but Congress has no place to try and tell the NCAA how to run its season.
The NCAA doesnt even control the BCS if no one knows this by now. The bowls are run by a separate entity that is not even run by the NCAA.

Im glad they got all the important issues with our country fixed. Im for a playoff. Im more for Government sticking to important issues.

Yeah its a mythical national championship right now. I'm sure if there is gunna be a playoff system in FBS it'll be awhile before its actually put in
no duh. On their own, it'll take a while to come up with a plan that gets a majority vote. If Congress is involved, it won't happen until Bristol Palin is old enough to run for prez.

From what I understand is, that they can't promote the championship game as "National" Championship unless it is a result of them playing a playoff. They don't have to change the system, no ban on it or anything like that, but if they want to call it the "National Title Game" or whatever...they can't if they keep the same system, has to be a playoff.
