some notable teams today went down
#5 Duke lost to Georgia Tech
#12 UConn lost to Georgetown
#4 Purdue lost to Wisconsin
Kansas State lost to Missouri
#3 Kentucky barely survived a scare from Georgia
Notre Dame is beating #8 WVU 23-4
Wake lost to Miami
UVa beat NCSU
a good weekend of basketball...
tomorrow VT plays @ Carolina and Kansas plays Tennessee
Georgetown was #13, not an upset IMO
#10 Kansas State let me down tho, Im real high on them and they didnt look good today. Mizzou isnt near as good as they were last year.
Georgia Tech loses to UGA one game, then beats Duke. They are so inconsistent, but they have all the talent in the world. I used to defend Hewitt, but its getting harder.
Duke got exposed, their lack of athleticism killed them. They could not guard Lawal, and no one could score aside from Scheyer, who had what, 25? out of 67.
Wisconsin is for real. Beating Duke and Purdue showed me they are real contenders.
Purdue isnt as good as I expected, they barely beat a mediocre Alabama team, but they are still good, and could still make the Final Four.
But UGA isnt bad, they are actually a surprise team. they beat GT last week. UK survived tho, with a young team it will eventually catch up and cost them a game tho, but John Wall is already the best player in the country. Scary
Duke will have trouble against any team with an athletic frontline and can hit a few shots from the outside...which is why they will have trouble with UNC's inside game...
Wisconsin beating Purdue was not unexpected as has been said but Purdue is as good as advertised especially on their own floor...
UK played down to UGa in that game...want to see them play Vandy who is playing very well in that league...
ACC does not have as much separating the top from the bottom this season...
Big 12 really is now a 4 team league and truly the 2nd best league with Kansas, Texas, Baylor & Kansas State with Missouri, Texas Tech and Okla. St. not bad...
All of the leagues are still trailing the Big East from top to bottom overall...
Great day so far for these games and should be interesting from here out...
i dont think the Big East is #1, it has to be the Big XII, #1, #2, and #10.

The Big 10 is better than the Big East IMO
and I agree on Vandy, they are a sleeper Sweet 16 team.
I agree with Coach Cal, how the Cats arent 9-7 I dont know, so young and at so key positions. I expect some games to be blow out and some to be 3 point wins. Id say bout half way through the SEC slate things will start to even out and they come into their own. It's happy day for UK fans after suffering through Billy Clyde and the final years of Tubby Smith, who I am happy to see have success at Minn.
Kansas-UT is a pretty good game

UT's white guys suck a hard nut, they're walk-ons so they get a pass...
Pearl is doin a really good job with what he's been dealt
just about any game that Chism gets in foul trouble will turn out to be an L

UT has been hot from 3 earlier, as I type another three
UT wins by 8 with Chism and Prince sitting the bench most of the game. That left 4 scholarship players and a bunch of walk ons. It seems like Pearl does better with less talent. One of "UT's white guys" who "suck a hard nut" hits a 3 with under a minute with 1 second on the shot to put the game away.
UT played lights out, but to be honest theres no way they can shoot that well every game

Pearl did a great job of winning the battle of controlling the things you can control: turnovers, rebounds, shot selection, defense
then they had a lot of shots fall, and all that together means you can play with anyone

people get put on rosters all the time for factors outside of whether they can play or not...for walk-ons, it's "will this kid be trouble?", "will he hustle?", "will he stay eligible?" and that's about it
VT added a kid 2 years ago who sucked worse than both Pearl and Whitey #2, Tom Amalfe, because his grandfather donated 1/3 of the money needed to build the new practice facility...after realizing just how bad he was, they had a talk and decided he should probably just concentrate on school...he then played for the JV team that I coached last year and sat the bench for that team as well...he was THAT bad
Amalfe averaged 32ppg in high school in NJ
Looks like Pearls stats in high school were 21.3 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 2.6 apg as a senior. So a pretty good player in high school.
I don't give a **** who you complimented, Drew. Exactly how many UT games have you watched this season? The kid's been streaky, I think his best game he had about 12 and there's some games he's been scoreless. I think when dealing with an 18 year old walkon in his 14th game of his college career, it might be maybe just a little early to say that he's a "white guy who sucks a hard nut". That was my point. You keep making your dumbass coments though about big Jew noses and the white boys who suck though. At least UT has the right Jew for the job and I wouldn't trade him for anyone.

Agreed on that then. Woolridge helped alot hitting 3 straight. Free throws have been a problem with the team since Pearl got there and I'm not sure it'll get any better. They have a team full of Shaq's at the line.Quote:

Your version of "pretty dang good", is pretty dang low. Especially when you're talking about the #1 running qb prospect that year when he came out and a 5* kid. He didn't hit 100 yds passing in 2 games this year, didn't hit 200 in 10, threw no td's in 5 games this year, and completed less than 50% in 3 games this year. A 5* kid that highly rated should be more reliable. I'm not saying he didn't have good games. He played well against Duke, UT, and decent in a couple others. He'll then have a 9-20 91 yard day, a 4-9 98 yard day, throw 2 picks against GT in one of the biggest games of his season. If he could complete around 55-60%, average around 200 yds a game next year, and be 2/1 in td/int ratio that'd be a good year. Up to this point, he's been a bust. 9 out of 10 5* kids should be able to come in and make an impact from day 1. He'll be a SR next year. Crompton was the #2 qb coming out behind Sanchez and just because he threw for a bunch of TD's this year and played pretty well in all but about 3-4 games, he's still the worst starting qb I've seen play for UT in 30 years. I think TT is very good in the system he's in. VT is a pretty heavy run 1st team. Yet Tyrod still had a 56% completion rate, averaged 9.5 ypa, 178 ypg, and threw 13 tds vs 5 ints while only averaging 18 apg. He also averaged 28 ypg rushing with 5 tds. I don't think many QB's will pass for more than 2300 yards in a season only attempting 243 passes.Quote:
