someone asked this question today (Colts)

what if the Colts played in the NFC, how many SB's would the Colts have played in? I don't think they would have won them but playing in the AFC is a bit tougher to get through right now IMO. you have the Pats, Steelers and Colts that you pretty much have to get through most years. would it be like the Bills of the 90's? pretty much if the Cowboys or Niners were in the AFC back then you would have seen more than one Dallas vs. San Fran superbowl. Just iteresting to think about, would Peyton have played in 4 SB's by now?

ahh i dunno about all that, the NFC isnt that terrible.

hell the NFC won the SB two years ago, a Giants team with a mediocre record beat the undefeated, BEST TEAM EVAR! Patriots team.

The NFC has won more historically, but yes teh AFC has won 7 out of the last ten.

But I know for a fact they would not have won th NFC in 2003-04, because the Panthers, the NFC champs that lost to NE, beat Indy earlier in the year.
In 04-05, Indy was 12-4, and suffered a loss to the lowly 7-9 Cheifs, while the Eagles were 13-3, suffering losses to Pitt (who also beat New England the SB winners), and the other two losses were when Philly sat their starters most of the game against STL they lost and the loss to Cincy, where none of the starters played.

So I do not believe Indy would have made 3-4 more SB's because they were in the NFC. One more maybe, but def. not 3 or 4.

hey now Biggin you are not saying the argument of "team a " beat "team b". and "team b" beat "team c ". so "team a" beats "team c". :2thumbsup:

but on a serious note I thought it was an interesting thought.

no, team A (the panthers) beat team B (the colts). and that was the year the panthers made the SB, so how can you say Indy would make the SB when they lost to Carolina?

because the Cowboys beat the Saints this year but the Saints are still in the SB while Dallas is home. every team will drop one or 2 games they shouldn't during the regular season, except the Pats and Dolphins once.

Indy has historically choked in the playoffs..I don't care what conference they were placed in, 9 times outta 10 they'd go choking back to the house come playoff time.

but the saints didnt play dallas in the post season.

carolina beat indy in the reg season, and if they met again in the post season, carolina would be the favorite.

They won by 3 on a last second fg. That was the same spread as the Super Bowl. If who they mattered to in the regular season meant anything about the playoffs, the Colts wouldn't have lost to Denver that year 31-17 only to beat them in the first round 41-10.

i understand that, but my point was its impossible to say the Colts would have def. made the SB in the NFC that year, because they didnt beat teh NFC champs, the NFC champs beat them. its not fair to CAR to say IND would have def. beat them in the playoffs, because CAR beat them in the reg season.

Gotcha then. I took it as you saying "no" because they'd already been beaten once in season and it would have happened in the postseason.

nah not exactly like that, starbuck made it seem the colts would have made 5-6 more SB's in teh NFC, i was just pointing out the year that CAR went they beat Indy in the reg season, and if they had a QB woudla beat NE.

New England is the lucky team, if things go different, they are the modern bills. STL could have won, Philly shoulda won, they had a chance at the end, Carolina was in it til the very end, and NYG beat them
