LPD Tournament Champs
Congrats to PV on hanging in there and coming back from a 9 point deficit at halftime. Wonderful season guys. Congrats also to freshman Tyler Vernon for winning tourney MVP.
On a side note, Jervis showed just how classless he can be again tonight, walking out and having the team change clothes and have PV wait to present trophies. Then, when Appy was presented the runner up trophy, bolted to the locker room again. Grat job Pat.

Good grief, quit whining about Appalachia's coach. You won the game, move on. You PV people are so whiny. You act like you are above reproach. I guess your former football player in the news this week shot holes in that theory.

Re: LPD Tournament Champs
Jesus Christ, you won, get over it. Blowing absolutely nothing, into something stupid, ****.
-
Re: LPD Tournament Champs
Call it whining if you like. I think the team Appalachia puts on the floor each nite represents the people of Appalachia like a mirror, classless! From the fighting among themselves to the arguing with the refs and walking out. Get ole Dave to get you guys another transfer or two, maybe three for next year, you'll need them.

Being from Appalachia I agree. I will stick up for Appalachia in about everything but this, and I want to apologize to the PV Basketball team and their fans. I'm not speaking for anyone but myself. Congrats on winning tonight.

Re: LPD Tournament Champs
i understand feelings for the coach but i'll also so you are a low class complete idiot to bring the kids into this. the teams are a reflection of their coach and if pv and appy had switched coaches the pv kids would play with just as much dissaray. i think they've done pretty darn good the last 2 yrs with the coach they have to work with
-
Re: LPD Tournament Champs
With all the drama and would-be drama aside, I think this was one of the better LPD championship games I've seen in a while.
The two best teams in the LPD played in a great game, and the better team won. I'm not really suprised at the outcome or that the game was close. I think if these two teams played a half dozen times, they would probably split the games.
I think PV and Appy could be involved in some great games in the Region tournament. There are couple of games I'd love to see including Appy vs Castlewood/St. Paul and PV vs Gate City/Lebanon.
Congrats to Vernon! He's gonna be one to watch over the next couple years.

Re: LPD Tournament Champs
I would venture to say that the move by Appy was for security and might have been the best thing to do. Tempers were flaring and to avoid another mess, the coaching staff decided to do this. I am just guessing here. Pat Jervis is a class guy.
-
Re: LPD Tournament Champs
I'll go along with the better coached team won. There are 3 other coaches in the LPD, 2 assistants, and 1 girls coach that would have put that game away by half time for appy. Should have not been a game. When Garrisson went out with 3rd foul PV had nobody on floor that was a "good" ballhandler. Appy should have pressed them into submission but what does their glorious coach do, back off and let them walk the ball up the court...

He may be a classy guy, but he's taken a team that either of the coaches from PV (Moore, Allen, or Gibson), the lady's coach from Norton, or Hobby Stuart would have undefeated right now and made them a hugely underachieving team....

Re: LPD Tournament Champs
If i came off trying to say this was the kids fault, i apologize. In fact, my concern was for the players of Appy. I just feel that Jervis is teaching them the wrong way. Take last year for instance, Appy walked away with all 3 trophies on PV's home court...but PV stayed out and watched the ceremonies. This year, he takes em to the locker room and delays things. If it had something to do with security, when they came back out to get their runner up trophy, why did he lead them off again? Pure and simple, he wanted to be an ass about things. Great way to teach your kids how to win or lose with class.

Ok, that I can agree with... no argument here

and with such a classy well thought out post like this, who could argue with you over the classless peons of poor appalachia, its a shame i have to drive through such a high class town like big stone every day and shame your walkways and golden gates with my ratty low class ways. im sorry that i recieved a horrible education and was the only person ever to get a perfect score on my virginia LPT. **** it must be hard having to look down on us with our ****ty jobs, our smartass attitudes, our trashy ways. i want to apologize on behalf of everyone in appalachia whose parents worked their self to death in the coal mines and their children couldnt afford to finish college. im sorry that i dont meet your standards of being a human being. maybe you can get your rich mommy and daddy to ship me back off to college. i have 84 credit hours and a 3.5 gpa it would be a nice gesture coming from someone as high and mighty as yourself. maybe then i wouldnt have to work my ass off 45-60 hours a week (when they let me) just to help my father who pretty much killed himself in the mines and my mother who is working herself to death now so my sister can have a better life. will you look down upon me from you high and mighty pedestal please sir? maybe thats why i have so many friends from big stone they all feel sorry for me that i am such a piece of trash?

but an accurate weight is his delight.

but wisdom is with the humble.

I used to thing Jervis tried hard with his players, but when PV and Appy played at PV on homecoming this season and it was time for the King and Queen of the court to be announced, Jervis brings his players out and sends them down the sidelines, with all the Appy fans hooting and hollering for their team as any other group of fans would...classless in my book....this just adds to it in my book.

How far onto the court did you think PV's student section was going to move, after the game? They had a pretty good crowd and were still cheering, even after the game.

that move i have no problem with. the team slowly and quietly walked to their bench and sat down. they didn't come running out and make a scene. if i had been standing that long i would have took a seat to, if pv didn't want them on the floor they should have had chairs in the locker room for them to sit in. that was very "unclassy" on pv's part

Hats off to everyone in this thread for bringing the lulz. These threads the last few days have made for some fantastic reading. Good job fellas.

To my knowledge there are benches in the the locker rooms that allow the athletes to sit and wait patiently.
-
Re: LPD Tournament Champs
I know PV has them, well they did when I was there. There were plenty of benches and plenty of room to move around and stretch as well as sit.

You are correct sir, plenty of room in there to sit and relax without having to come out and sit on the bleachers. Wherever the other poster got their information, it was wrong.

It seems like everytime Appy and Pv plays each other this guy has something to say about somebody from Appy being "classless". This guy is classless for getting on here and saying it. It was a good game. Give Jervis props for working with what he had. The big german didnt eve play for a short period of time because he was sick. And Josh Allen walked out sometime in the 4th so we had to finish without him. And it wasnt on purpose that we made Pv wait to get their trophy. It was forgoten about after the game. If your team wouldve lost in a situation like that then you wouldnt of thought about a trophy.
-
Re: LPD Tournament Champs
well, since PV did exactly what Appy did last year, and the PV team stayed and in no way delayed anything, id say you are totally wrong.
All I hear is excuses excuses.
PV beat you.
EDIT-
And claiming AHS 'forgot' about the trophy stuff is laughable, and in no way true. EVERYBODY knows there is the presentation afterwards, thats a lame excuse, and flat out incorrect.

Well EVERYBODY is most people in the stands. Of course they know, cause most of them have seen it many times before. But you cant tell me that if you was on Appy's team and lost like we did that the first thing on your mind when the final buzzer went off is a presentation. No, you wouldve went to the locker room like we did as we do after every game.
-
Re: LPD Tournament Champs
well at least you are being honest now, they didnt come out because they had just lost and were upset, not some BS about they didnt know about the presentation.
they won it last year, so yeah, they knew about the trophy
-
Re: LPD Tournament Champs
as a member of the team, i would like to apologize for not staying out and delaying the trophy presentation. it was at the time the farthest thing from my mind. i was both hurt that we lost, as well as disgusted by the fashion in which we lost, blowing a 9 point halftime advantage. i personally didn't think about the trophy presentation until after i was dressed. congrats to pv, they played a hell of a second half, and deserved to win.
on a side note to valour, we didn't have any chairs/benches in our locker room at pv. we had to go to a computer lab to even be able to sit down and have a have our pre-game discussion, and in no way did we intend to disrupt pv homecoming..

I apologize if that was the case. I do not know why in the world PV would have let that happen.:)

Re: LPD Tournament Champs
I saw a 30 or 40 some year old lady from Appy threatening to be violent against a 16 year old and a 17 year old because the girl and boy were cheering when a PV player blocked a shot. Pathetic .I also think it's funny how Appy's team could go out and kill 30 people in front of 100 more people and some of the people on here would still try to take up for them and say they did nothing wrong hahahaha
Anyways, Congrats to the Vikes players and coaches on a great season and the LPD championship. I've known most of the players since they were just little and I have 3 cousins on the team so it makes me very happy to see them be so successful and i wish them luck in the regions.
I would also like to congratulate the Appy players on a great season and wish them luck in regions too. It's a shame they don't have a better coaching staff helping them
It would be nice for the LPD to have a D1 and D2 team make it far this post season.

Re: LPD Tournament Champs
I know there have been benches in there before, but they may not be now. I think your response is very appropriate and an excellent explanation of the events of the championship night. I can see that side of the situation. Thank you.

most of the people on here that take up for appalachia, or well took up for them over these past couple of weeks have actually been from PV if you go back and read the posts. and i dont doubt you for one second that those kids were just cheering their team on and some lady threatened them with physical violence

Call me a liar all you want i saw it with my own two eyes. I don't believe you were there. I can get about 20 other people that will tell you the same thing including pound and wise cheerleaders and players not to mention 2 guys from clintwood that were standing right beside me that saw everything happen.

haha JS i know it seems weird, but i did see a couple older AHS ladies going hardcore on the PV student section lol
but i was too far away to hear anything

sweet, i can get 25 people to tell you that the sky is green and drops liquor and gumballs. oh no, i dont doubt it one bit that some older woman was going ape **** for no reason, but im sure there is a lot more to it than the kids sitting there being perfect angels and this big bad mean old woman came and cussed them...... give me a break. id be saying the same thing if somebody from appalachia was claiming this one.

That right there is another example as to why I don't believe what folks say on here without investigating further and getting the facts. You are right Rocky. You can get folks to say anything to back up "your story" nowadays, especially on here. Lord only knows what really happened the other night. Always the case is that there's 3 sides to a story: Yours,hers/his,and the truth, and usually the truth is far different (although sometimes a mix) than the other 2. Good to see that there are some on here who see that.
