i just dont understand why teams dont like him, he produces year in and year out adjusts to each system pretty well it just doesnt make sense to me.Quote:

I hate to see this happen year after year but especially Chicago He tore it up while he was there but in NY I could see the writing on the wall when he was bening held out in short yardage situations. He fooled the coaching staff by quietly having a quality season I dont know how many more of these teams he can take because the age factor is the reason no oneis willing to give him the chance he needs . Just let him know if he is a everday player or a situational player. I think they will be pleasantly suprised. Smart kid with smart football sense. He said football stopped being fun after highschool. His mom asked me once, after he had a monster game for the Jets and didn't touch the ball till the 2nd quarter the next week, what I thought. They don't play LPD ball in the pros and your boys have a much better job than we had in the mines. I hope the kid quits while he is still pretty healthy and has invested his money. Pro football is a job and the teams look to make money...bottom line. He was and is a good kid. (Sorry, I still think of him as a kid.:D)
they did it because they have money tied up in two backs they think can carry the load already, Green and Washington, and they didnt want to have to pay Thomas a roster bonus or anything.

I believe they will regret counting on Washington and Green in the long haul.

Greene looked amazing in the playoffs but he is unproven. Can he carry the load of a 16 game/300 carry season? That is yet to be seen, but the fact of the matter is this is a dumb move by the Jets. Greene runs the ball like he's Marion Barber or something, hate to tell him hes no Marion Barber. Like Barber though he will wear down quick, and I doubt his physical style will last. I'd say he either goes down with an injury midway through the season or has nagging injuries all throughout the season and his not quite as effective.
Plus Leon Washington is coming off an injury and might have a hard time regaining his explosiveness. Combine all that with the possibility that next season may be uncapped and you have an all around dumb move by the Jets.
If this happens I'd love to see Jones end up with the Pats and get a ring, and another 1000 yard season or two.
Unfortunately, it is the nature of the NFL these days especially in dealing with RB's. Kiss the days of spending your entire career with one team goodbye.
im not gonna say it was a stupid move or the jets made a mistake, historically backs as old as TJ dont produce well, he was due a $3 million roster bonus, and they are paying two young backs, well younger than TJ.
sure it sucks, it was a good team, but someone else will pick him up, no worries.

I vote San Diego. With LT gone, he and Sproles could split the carries and do big things in SD. Sproles is the best back SD has left, but he's not an every-down back. TJ could end up being that guy for them, and having Sproles as a change of pace vs. TJ's downhill style would be huge.Quote:

Think about it though man--why would SD release LT if they didn't have every intention of resigning Sproles? There was no way when they released LT that they knew for sure that a back like Jones would hit the FA market. They wouldn't make a move like releasing LT blindly w/o a plan to sign a decent running back to take his place (Sproles). Signing TJ would be icing on the cake and give them a 1-2 punch.Quote:

I still think it's not a smart move to be going into FA & the draft w/Michael Bennett as your only running back on the roster. They'd better have a good contingency plan in place.
Its definitely risky business.
With Holmgren behind the scenes in Cleveland, I think that team will rise in the next couple years. As for the Skins and Seattle, I don't see it happening for a while.Quote:

Going back to the HOF possibility for TJ, I think he'll get in eventually. Right now he's 28th on the all time rushing list, and less than 200 yards behind Earl Campbell who is 25th. TJ has averaged 922 yards and 6 TD over his entire career. If he just does that over 3 more seasons he'll rank anywhere from 11th to 13th all time rushing. If he did it for 5 more years, he'd wind his career up 5th all time. IMO, I think he'll be inside the top 10 all time rushers when he retires
i doubt SD. they just released an old back, and they didnt even tender Sproles, who knows what they are doing.
Cleveland is the best bet, it sucks but I bet thats where he lands
I think the SD rumor is prolly where he ends up myself. He posted some pretty good numbers vs. AFC West teams this past year..
The difference is TJ is an older back who has been productive 16 games a year the past few seasons that they might land cheaper than holding onto LT. It wouldn't surprise me if he landed there.Quote:

LT for years was the best RB in the league, and put SD in the map. i just dont see them letting him go only to sign a back older than him.
Sproles would have commanded about 8 mil from them if I am not mistaken. They may be able to land TJ for 6. Plus their savings of cutting LT and drafting a new TB saves $$$.
I think they will just draft a RB (ben tate? ryan matthews?), and sign a mediocre RB for cheap.

I dont really see Jones getting better than a 2 to 3 year deal worth no more than 3.5 million a year. Toward the end of last season he started to slow down quite a bit, maybe due to nagging injuries throughout the year.
I honestly think the Pats is where I'd want to be. You got Brady, good Wide Recievers that will keep a defense honest. Jones could really find some room to run there IMO. Even though the Jets have a great offensive line, their passing game still got no respect so it was easier to key in on TJ. Plus the fact that the Jets offense was terribly predictable, everytime Jones carried the ball I saw it coming when they were lined up.
I'll reserve my opinion for next season whether or not TJ will have a chance at winding up in the HOF. If he can go over 1200 again then and has the desire to play til he is 35 then he will no doubt break into the top 10 all time. Right now he's probably right up there with the "30 and over" all time record.
What hurts him with modern day running backs is that he really hasn't scored a lot of TD's in his career or had a lot of total yards. If somehow he can get to 90, or over 100 Td's he will get in. I seriously doubt that happens though. He's gotta get like 30 or 40 more. A ring would help more than anything. And the most underrated back ever was probably Curtis Martin. Though TJ last 5 years would put him right behind Martin IMO.
Anyone looks at the stats for the last 5 or 6 years and compare them to overall NFL leaders? I'd say TJ has to be the leading rusher for that timeframe or very close with LT.
