heard he's no longer with the team..
Not really for sure, not saying much on volquest. He probably realizes he will be backing up Tauren Poole and won't be handed the starting job. I hope it's not true but if it is, we will be okay at the RB position. That is one of the only positions we are loaded at.
Just got a text that said he left for personal and family reasons. I knew his brother went back home.
...Quote:
Instead the former five-star recruit and No. 1 overall prospect in 2009, according to Rivals.com, has temporarily left the program and is not considered a part of the team.
"On a personnel matter, Bryce Brown came to me today and indicated he's dealing with a lot of personal and family problems right now. Concerns, that I believe, stem from and what he told me stem from, No. 1 some of the reasons why he came here," Dooley said. "Number 2, his experience over the first six months when he was here. And as of right now, he's not a part of the team.
"It doesn't mean we've kicked him off by any means. We want Bryce here, and he's going to be here through the rest of the semester. But my focus really is on the 85 guys who are here and have great spirit about the direction of the program. And we're excited about having our first practice."
I'm normally not one to say I told you so, but I told a lot of you his primadona antics weren't over w/his enrollment at UT. This is just another example of what I was simply forewarning most of you UT fans about. Just like UTVols2 said above, he wasn't handed the starting job, and he pouted and is taking his ball and going home. I called that a long while back.
This quote from Dooley on ESPN's blog is telling:
Brown thought that recruiting and pampering continued all the way into when you're on the team, apparently. That's what I take out of Dooley's statement.Quote:
"I was a little surprised, but you can only control what you can control," Dooley said. "He went through the entire offseason, but I also think that this wasn't something from the last three weeks. But I'm not here to recruit. I'm here to coach."
Note that Arthur left Miami due to personal reasons as well. That personal reason? His g/f broke up with him apparently. It had jack & squat to do with him not knowing the defensive keys and unable to secure a wide open MLB job w/Daryl Sharpton's graduation, I'm sure. No way it would have been b/c Miami's staff just didn't give him the keys to the MLB position. But...that's the spin job he and his family put on it. Same deal here w/Bryce as far as I can see.
I think Tauren Poole got a raw deal last year having to sit behind BB for most all the season. He outperformed just about every RB on the roster in practice and scrimmages and never got his chance because I feel Kiffin wanted to get his #1 recruit in there and let him go. Poole would constantly pop 60, 70, and 80 yard runs during intersquads, spring game, etc and hardly ever saw the field. This includes allowing Oku to get more carries at the start of the year. I hope he gets his shot this year, but, our O-Line is gonna blow so it may not look good anyway.
We got a lot of weapons at the WR and RB position but a weak o line which as we all know that is where it starts and can make an avg running back look special. I hope we sign at least 10 lineman this year because we need some hogs.
Vol fans shouldnt kid themselves, we're gonna miss the heck out of Bryce Brown. He was after all the #1 prospect and did a great job last year. The other backs are good backs and will do fine, but this is not good news for those of us that follow the Large Orange.
I respectfully disagree. Dooley seems like a solid coach, good motivator. Kiffin and Brown were of the same mold--primadona's who craved attention. Getting rid of those two guys allows Dooley to improve the chemistry in the locker room w/o this player whining about not being "the guy" and he's an upgrade as far as being a coach that's seen less and heard from even less than Kiffin was when it comes to the media.
You may lose a touch of talent on the field, but if the team chemistry's better, you'll have more long-term success.
Again (like everytime with the kid) you're making assumptions and guesses. From everything I've ever read or seen from the kid he's nothing but a quiet, good kid. He has never from anything I've seen "whined" or said anything about wanting to be "the guy". All the other players seems to love him, none of the coaches (past or current) have ever said anything bad about him. He never did anything to affect chemistry or cause any problems. If anything else he was the oppositite and helped Crompton out a lot last year. From everything I've read, it's daddy wanting him home and wanting him to play at K-State with his brother. He's went through offseason workouts, had nothing but positive things to say about Dooley after he was hired, and has done anything he's ever been asked to do while at UT.
I thought last year that Poole should have been getting as many or more touches than Brown, but Kiffin wanted to put him out front and make sure he was seen. I don't think Brown had any say in that. If there is one place that UT has a little bit of depth and some talent it's at RB. If Tony Williams hadn't tore his ACL last Spring he would have probably been in the same shape as Poole (not getting deserved carries) because early reports were that he was as good or better than Hardesty last Spring. I'll be excited to see the kid that had 380 yds rushing and 7 tds in a game playing in metro Atlanta as a senior.
I wish the kid was staying at UT, but I wish him luck where ever he goes because he seems like a good kid. I'm not going to hate him and denegrate him just because he chose not to play for the school I cheer for.
Whatever man. I told you this would happen if/when he wasn't handed the starting job outright ASAP. I called it like I saw it. Bryce, at his core, may not be a bad kid. He may be quiet in person. BUT--the way he handled not only his recruitment thru Butler and his father, and now how he's decided to leave for "personal" reasons is all a spin job. Just like the whole fasting deal during his recruitment, him choosing UT over UM because "God led him there". We are dealing with a fickle dude who you can't depend on IF you don't give him what he wants. His actions so far back up all I've said about him, regardless of what people who cover the Vols say he's like in person. I've met some real bad people who can carry themselves like angels when eyes are on them...but if you pay attention to what they do, you see the real deal about who they are.Quote:

LoL at UT....
sure they lose a huge talent, but it isnt like UT doesnt have one of the most talented backfields in the SEC.
UT can lose a RB, they cannot afford to lose a LB or OT.
Brown never really did much anyway, what was his highest game total?
He should shine at Kansas State, but he lost most of his hype and pro potential leaving a big time SEC school for a smaller Big XII school
Says the FSU fan. For ****'s sake. :laffingassoff:
Agree with Biggin' on UT being able to lose a RB off the roster and not being able to lose someone at LB/OT or several other spots. Disagree with the his last sentence and site Adrian Peterson, Darren Sproles, and Jamal Charles as just three Big 12 backs starting in the NFL right now.
There was an ESPN article I saw copied and pasted today about it not being a sure thing on Brown leaving UT. He's still enrolled at UT and is finishing the semester before he decides anything. I don't think he's staying and I think he's going to K-State. There were rumor's last season about his dad being mad and wanting him home because he'd gotten a girlfriend and found out they were having sex. Now with his brother (whom I'm sure Coeburn Cane now thinks is a first class piece of garbage and the true reason for the holocaust since he left Miami) at K-State, I'm sure Brice will end up there as well.
I know, right....
I'll take all time bowl wins over a team that gets beat by ****ing Kentucky in the whogivesa**** bowl. Is there an ACC team that hasn't beaten FSU in the last 5-6 years? :laffingassoff:
Changing of the guard = the weak falling by the wayside.
Wyoming, Vanderbilt and UCLA (twice) LMAO:laffingassoff:
And yet FSU still loses to a team that UT has beaten every year for almost 3 decades and somehow manages to lose to South Florida and every other bottom feeding dreg in the ACC other than who, Duke? Be glad they weren't playing Wyoming, Vanderbilt, or UCLA (twice). :laffingassoff: They should shut that **** down and turn it back into a girls college. Maybe there'd be less free shoes and academic scandals. As much as UT has sucked over the last half decade at least every once in a while they'll show up and be competitive. It's the argument of who has the prettier turd. At least I'm not delusional enough to think that my team still matters in the grand scheme of things.
but thats been a few years ago, now the Big XII has gone all west coast pass happy, making it harder for a RB to really stand out and shine.
Leaving a big time SEC school for a lower tier Big XII school, in a conference where the pass is king, just makes no sense to me in football ideology.
Not that you cared to ask before you made an assumption--but no. Arthur Jr didn't complain about PT while at Miami. He was a consummate teammate. He always talked about how much he enjoyed his time at Coral Gables and that he was learning a lot. Even Arthur was quoted as saying that he was behind the curve as far as the LB position coming from Kansas to major D1 college football--but to his credit, he always worked hard to improve & learn, and played well on special teams.Quote:

What I don't like, is that his pops decided that the best thing to put out there regarding his departure from Miami was that he was having personal problems and he wanted Arthur closer home to the family. The spin job primadona BS is what I can't take, and Arthur seems like the only dude in the family to not be that way.
Two things happened with Arthur that I know of, straight from people I know on campus--his g/f broke up with him, and all signs pointed to him not getting the MLB job in open competition this spring b/c of his lack of knowledge of the defense. Anyone following Miami football pretty closely could tell you the latter of those. If you're his dad, come out and say that b/c that's pretty much the case--no spin job needed. I can respect the truth. I don't like this BS his dad put out about "personal problems" and wanting Arthur closer to home to somehow soften the blow in the media or whatever.
Both Kansas boys who were 5* prospects who couldn't cut it in an ACC/SEC level football program. Definitely alike in those ways.
That's about as far as it goes. I know people personally who have met both guys, and by far, the consensus is that Arthur was the more reserved/humble one. Bryce wanted stardom, he wanted fame, he wanted the spotlight on him. Arthur was blue collar and worked hard, Bryce felt he was more entitled due to his talent. I'm not saying these things about Bryce for slight b/c he was a Vol, and I'm not saying good things about Arthur b/c he was a Cane (even though that's the assumption being made). Bryce didn't have a good reputation as far as how he carried himself even when he was a Miami verbal commit. People I know often remarked how he was a lot different personality-wise than Arthur, how he was more attention driven and arrogant.
You know, it's not so far fetched that two talented brothers from an area not known for producing D1 players would be a bit different from one another. See TJ and JJ for examples of that. TJ graduated from UVA early and competed for a Heisman, JJ went on academic probation and was just about kicked off of Notre Dame's team. Both went on to varying degrees of success in the NFL. Same deal here--and if you paid attention to how TJ carried himself versus JJ, you could have figured that TJ was the more mature/adjusted one between the two.
to be honest, i never once heard anyone call BB the words you used to describe him.
everyone at UT loved the kid, everything ive read from people around the UT program came to the conclusion that he was not a terribe primadonna.
the only problems i ever heard were about his handler. people hated that he had a handler, but i never heard anyone talk about BB in a bad light
Underlined/italicized are your key qualifiers there. Of course no one "at UT" or "around the UT program" are going to call him a primadona. They're not going to reveal any character flaws b/c he's a Vol. It's the same reason why those people who I know that met him in person said that even though he was all they told me, that they hoped he grew out of that stuff before making it to Miami because they wanted his talent at the RB position. You know just as well as I do--if a talented dude's on your team, and he's an icehole, you'll overlook it as long as you can because he's on your team.
And you're naiive if you think that Bryce's recruiting circus and subsequent grand-standing about not returning to the UT team this spring aren't more than just a work of Brian Butler. It has a lot to do with Arthur Sr. and Bryce himself, you can be rest assured.
I have no doubt that his dad was involved in getting him to possibly leave UT for KSU, I was referring to the negatives surrounding his recruitment, and all that centered around Butler.
And its not fair to just say that the UT fans would lie and cover up about BB. The people I've heard from, who were around the UT program and have no reason to lie, told me that the media gave BB a bad rap because of Butler, and his attitude was never anything but positive at UT. That he was a great teammate and a hard worker. I never heard one thing about him complaining about PT or a starting spot.
And these people are honest, they've let me know about Gerald Jones, Brandon Warren, even Ambles. If a UT player is a primadonna drama king, they would have not been scared or ashamed to say it.
Him and Brice sound exactly alike. They both seem like good kids to me who are being pressured by their dad to do what he wants. Never once has the kid demanded playing time or said anything about it. Go to Volquest and look in the archive at articles written with quotes from the kid last summer about how he didn't expect to start, about how he didn't deserve it, and how happy he was. Of course that was all just a lie and he did nothing but *****/whine/and cause conflict and all the kids hated him and thought he was a prima dona. Right now thousands of UT fans across the country are enthralled with how John Wall and Cousins are both academically inelligible and the story will come out later and how UK is going to end up on probation when they leave. It's the same bull**** that Miami fans have done to Brown since he went to UT. It's the same dumbasses who were sending him death threats and calling him every name in the world because he came to Miami's spring game last year wearing an orange pair of shorts. It's bitterness, stupidity, and the exact word from which the word "fan" comes from, "fanatics". I'd don't get caught up in all of that bull****. Some people can't deal with rejection and take umpteenth hand information from some 20 some year old fat **** from Jersey who knows the story on Brice because he talked to this guys who knows Leonard Hankerson's cousin's friend and this is what he said. The same stuff was said about Graig Cooper when UT quit recruiting him. "Oh he's a bad kid with an attitude problem and is nothing but trouble in Miami.". I've seen nothing from him that would indicate anything like that, but some guy living in bum****egypt, Tennessee would know a lot more about what's going on in Miami.
I don't mind a catching a little hell, it's the nature of the beast.
I deleted my account because of people taking this place to serious and I have a lot of other things going on in my life these days, I created this account some time later just to talk a little college football. The only reason I have been on the last few days is because I wanted to hear what everyone had to say about the amazing Brice Brown.
Understand that. You should have never left though.
For the record. I never though Brown was a great/can't miss player and was far from the top player in the country. I think he was a 4* type kid. He doesn't have great speed, he's a bigger back, and doesn't have a lot of moves. I think he had a pretty good season last year considering he was hurt when he came in and was never healthy. I think he's getting a lot of crap from the retarded "U" fans around the country who claim him to be the Antichrist. Of course though "it's all about duh U!". He seems like a good kid to me.
So, should I close this thread folks? Or do we need Lung to show how butt-hurt he is over whiffing on this situation some more? LMAO...
I'll say this and that will be it from me. I know people down in CG that are closer to the players at UM than any quasi-journalist from VolQuest that has what limited access that UT will allow him to have to the UT players. I trust their word versus anything that a particular team's Rivals site has to say regarding this deal. I'm talkin bout people who have met Bryce casually and w/o the bias/guard of a team site's inherent slant.
I honestly don't care where he goes, I just like to ride some of my UT buddies about it.
He may be a good kid at heart, I know nothing about the guy, but Cane did call this over a year ago.
I don't give a **** if you want to close the thread or not. If you're that much of a freaking tard, go ahead. To me this has been some of the best back and forth sports talk on here in a long time.
Try again, that "quasi-journalist from VolQuest that has what limited access that UT will allow him to have to the UT players " Brent Hubbs, also works for UT as part of UT's Vol-Network. He's also won several sportswriter of the year awards in Tennessee and nationally. He's also been very critical of UT, UT's AD, UT coaches, and UT players in the past. Of course this is just one of several examples of you not knowing what the **** you're talking about. Hopefully when I check in tomorrow evening the real butt hurtness will show and you can leave your last .02 and lock the thread. You're better than that Brad, especially since I just disagreed with you. So, do as you will.
