Congrats to PV on a great sports year. You'll not hear me complaining too much though. As 'ol Dobber kept screaming "THEY'RE JUST SOPHOMORES!!!!!" all evening,I couldn't help but laugh a bit. He is exactly right. We don't have too many years when we don't rule the LPD on the diamond,so we can't begrudge tonight too much, but there's not a person on here who would be willing to bet that the Indians wont be back to terrorizing the LPD (and the state for that matter) on the diamond next year (and the year after...etc). A good example was tonight. The difference between the first game this year and tonight was stark. We'll grow up a bit more and be loaded to bear. Not too many teams can have 6 out of 9 starters as sophs and be 14-3 (most would settle for .500) As for the other sports this year coming up,don't look for PV to repeat the feat. Clintwood will be the team to beat on the gridiron no doubt. Again, congrats Vikings on a great sports year.
Nice to see ya last night, Joe.
Congrats to PV on the baseball win last night, they executed well and played solid baseball. I'm proud of the young Indians for their performance, and even in their youth, they had opportunities to win the game and didn't execute at key moments. If the Indians progress as they should they will return to diamond dominance soon, and could play "spoiler" in the upcoming tournaments. As for their youth, the entire pitching staff are sophomores and have thrown well all season. Sophomore Indians have accounted for all of the team's 12 HR's with the sophomore first baseman leading the LPD with 7 HR's and is hitting near .600 on the season. Others should relish in the moment for it appears the day is soon approaching when everyone will again be playing for 2nd place in the LPD in baseball.
JJK will have better hitting next year, you could argue that PV will have the two best pitchers in the LPD next year though. It wont be a walk in the park.
I'll take the two Baker brothers over both of them. Combined 7-0 this year to this point with 3 saves, the pair have 75 strikeouts in 54 innings. Kunce/Couch are 0-2 against PV and until somebody beats Jug he's the best pitcher in the LPD.
We'll certainly see about that next year no doubt:2thumbsup: Kunce may very well have been 1-0 vs PV had the young infield not blown up on him yesterday, and you know that. Jug will lose his best pitcher in the LPD label when we get him next year. Friendly wager next year on it? I love Mexican food btw;)
To far off, we'll see when we get there. FWIW, I think Ryan Baker is a better pitcher than Nathan Baker. Ryan just needs to develop better control, stuff wise I'll take Ryan. It's not we didn't give you all some runs also. You guys are due for some luck against us next year (all sports included). The only sport you even won a game against us in is girls basketball. (out of the big six sports)
Right, we only split last year on way to the LPD Tournament Title. Not to mention that each school went out in the regional semi-finals. Yup, JJK blew us away in baseball last year.
You all win girls basketball, we'll win basketball and should win softball. The others will be toss up's imo. Speaking of girls basketball, I think JJK gives JIB all they can hanlde next year.
i love when the only way people can justify losing is that the team is young and will dominate next year. well thats next year, and its pretty **** hard to rely on whats gonna happen.
how bout we rely on whats JUST happened:
Football? check
Basketball? check
Baseball? check
Losing to PV in football is nothing new, and pv basketball is really turning the corner now, but sweeping JJK in baseball, its nice. no matter how you wanna try and downplay it, PV beat JJK twice. LPD Champions. i know it burns you up inside, but just let it out, youll feel better. In the big three, PV beat Wise every time. face it homie, in 09-10, PV>>>JJK. 5-5 is ownage :p
Burns me up??? LMFAO not in baseball it doesn't Biggin'. We can't win 'em all,but dayum if we sure don't win most of 'em;). It's not hard at all to tell what's going to happen next year on the diamond. It's not justifying losing,it's stating a fact. They are having a great year with a good group of baseballers, but it will not consistently last like the outfit at JJK has.:2thumbsup:. Be excited about it though guys. I cannot fault you for it. PV beating JJK in baseball is a BIG deal-just like the rare ocasion when JJK gets PV on the gridiron. Two great programs in JJK baseball and PV football-at least we can all agree on that. Let's not get too excited about being LPD baseball champs though. We don't even get fired up with those. We play for state championships (like you all do in football). Best of luck to anybody from the LPD vs the CMD this year though. They'll certainly need it.
pretty bold statement, that pv could never have a baseball program like JJK
why is that? why is it impossible for PV to do it?
JJK doesnt have tons more kids or tons more great ballplayers, so it isnt like JJK is this juggernaut made in a lab.
Not a bold statement at all,and there's over 30 years of consistent history to back it up. I have ZERO doubt that in the next few years,Kelly baseball will be doing what they do,and that's winning championships. It's no different that Wise and PV in football. We have the students comparable to PV,but that has never mattered on the gridiron, and it's not going to matter on the diamond. Save this thread guys, and re-visit it in the next years, and see if 'ol ID isn't right.
