Heard today that if the Wise County BOS doesn't vote to give the SB the 2 million they requested, the SB is planning to call a special meeting to immediately consolidate the 3 smaller schools into the 3 larger ones. Which means effective August 2010 there will only be 3 Wise Co schools. Consolidation has already been approved by the board, I guess its time to decide if you want 3 new schools or 3 old worn out schools...

Doesn't the Board of Supervisors have the ability to fire Perry? I think it's time to move in another direction with regard to the Superintendent. I think the School Board was looking for a "hometown boy" and made a huge mistake when they hired this guy. If his 3 schools on one site plan goes through Wise County will be a punch line in SWVA.
Jeff Perry is the best superintendent Wise County has had in a long time.

I'm pretty thankful to have Perry, very intelligent, knows what he's doing and trying to move us in the right direction...yet there's some that complain because he's gonna "shut their town down", but not because of incompetence as they claim.

I won't argue that Perry isn't doing a good job, he is doing what the board intructs him to do. But I will say that this 3 in 1 idea just came from left field and no one seen it coming, I mean it wasn't on the table of considerable options until very late in the game. I am totally against this plan, it doesn't make a good environment for our children. The travel involved just cant be justified. If they would have went with that idea, I for one would not have sent my child up the mountain through the fog to school, I care to much for him. All the behind the door deals are going to start to come to the surface now that a certain individual within a political party has been named as arm twisting to get this thru. Bottom line, the 3 in 1 is dead in the water.
