That's a neat blast from the past!
Ervinton??? WTF????
They were in the LPD forever.
Wow, I didn't know that. Of course that was while I was in primary school so I never noticed those things then.
Ervinton moved to the Cumberland aroun 88 or 89 I believe.
Well, that would have been my 8th/9th grade years and I don't remember them being in the LPD then.
I played at Ervinton in the early 70's and we had probably 40 players on the varsity and this was grades 10 through 12, the JV was made up of 8th and 9th graders. We also had close to 100 in my graduating class. Times have changed.
You may be right. I thought they come in just before Lee High was formed, not the first year Pennington and Jonesville were defunct. St. Paul did come in that first year to the Cumberland I believe from the BDD.
I know all about those Dark days as well, we got beat at Ervinton in 87 on a saturday it was about 85 degreea ND RElly hot and their Homecoming, we went 1-9 in Shupes last year.
What is sad, is the fact that I remember Appalachia playing St. Charles when I was a youngun. They actually had a decent team. R/T should remember them having a football team.
I wasn't around in 1985 as I was living with my "rich" Uncle Sam across the pond. So, who know was the final district standings were?
St. Charles may have had the best nickname in HS sports history.
I know it was an odd nick, especially for their area, but, for the life of me, I can't think of it now.
Midgets, and for a while, it was the toughest place around.
Ok, Now I remember
Im pretty sure their baseball reign over the CD started in the spring of 1990, but you might be right.
