Hi,
I am new to the audio world.. my brother was killed in an auto accident and I have 2 savard speakers to sell for the estate.
I have reviewed in Internet and found a lot of information but no connection to anyone that has posted anything for the past couple of years.
Any supporting info would be appreciated. I saw several pics online but none have the configuration of these speakers.

Badly designed speakers put together by a bunch of amateurs for a local store.
Those look like two cheap woofers, a Heppner mid horn, and two peizos. There isn't a hundred bucks worth of speakers there.
What else would you like to know?

I wonder if Todd would consider removing these Savard threads? It seems were one of the few places Google returns with the Savard name so we're actually attracting more people asking about the pieces of junk.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.
Alas, most of the postings various online seem to be ca early 2007 and seemingly by low-number posters, This could lead one to believe that one person was shilling in an effort to drum up interest in a pair they were selling.
In any case, there seem to be several threads on the audiokarma.org site, so I suggest you research there. 'Savard' is rather unique, so you will not have trouble locating the posts, investigating and replying as needed.

The Heppner is a diffraction horn. It should be mounted with the long dimension vertical. Note Altec did this in the unit that employs the same horn.
I would also argue against the piezos in the first place. But if you are gonna use them at least have the sense to stack them vertically.

Last is the motivation for the post. To sell not to keep. This board is a resource for hobbyists, not for sellers to extract top dollar.
Sorry if you think I am rude, I feel it was extremely rude to ask people to work for free in order to make more money. As happens all too often here. And in this case about off topic speakers.
Suggestion ...all posts asking for valuation be deleted immediately if made day of registration.
I like the direction of the suggestion.
...or restrict such nascent valuation threads to e.g. the classifieds section (some new subsection thereof) as we see in place elsewhere. One-stop, one-thread shopping for the discussion, and then 'for sale' post.
Idea being that we may still want to assist folks in valuation/knowing what they have, as it promotes them to sell rather than stuff them under the proverbial mattress. Just without the clutter/distraction in the main forum.
(not speaking to the on/off topic part per se)
That said, there would be some consideration of the cost of the traffic, sans donations... but perhaps worth to subsidize it by directing the traffic here and making it easier for folks to find what they want to buy.

we knew that ad copy,

I said nothing bad about McGee. At the time they were a wonderful vendor....when I couldn't put together a big enough order to deal with a manufacturer, they were always there and good service.:2thumbsup:

Badly put together speakers, drivers positioned incorrectly, and the builders just bought what was recommended at the vendor. Most likely McGee, they dealt with a lot of small volume builders. I sincerely doubt the Savard people had any ability to do any driver testing, just likely slapped them together, smoked a joint, and said, "sounds great man!".
A good dealer can have a bad customer. Ask anybody who has worked in retail.

I know my reply is late but my experience is a bit different from those commenting below. I grew up in Baton Rouge where the founder, Bill Savard, started his operation. Mine were the 12th pair he made and back then they were hand made and took him almost 3 months to complete. So I guess he didn't simply throw garbage components together as suggested in this thread. I ordered them in November of 1973 and they were ready in Febuary of 1974. They were the smallest model in a line of 4 and I was so proud of them and happy with the sound. Today when I listen to them they still cook! Yes I still have them, hooked up to a Carver system, and the salesman who sold me the Carver quit trying to sell me a $4,500 pair of B&W since he thought the Savards sounded better. I would never think of selling them and if I upgrade my system again I'll simply hook the Savards up to them and continue to enjoy the sound.
David the OP only came here to pretty much find the value of his Savard speakers and hasn't posted here since.This board is for Altec Lansing enthusiasts period.Not to bash Savard speakers or any other.Having said that, most Folk's here think they are Garbage !
