2 weeks in a row no Pics from the Burton games. Coalfield really slacking no need in buying a ****ty paper from around here if all we are gonna do is get to read a incorrect summary about the games (number 15's Td wasn't mentioned in this weeks **** up I mean write up) ... I could do that in the Bristol paper... Coalfield sucking it up big here lately.
Is there a reason they are stiffing pics of the hometown team or what?

They had got pictures from Brad Lovell for a couple games, I guess the parent company is too cheesy to hire a photographer after that one guy retired back in the summer. I know Tate has been covering the games just because he is there.
paper smapaper don't rely on the media for you pictures, get a camera and take some for your self. In a related matter I couldn't find my wife at the game a couple of weeks ago, and looked down and she was on the sidelines taking pictures of her baby boy not at fence on the sidelines, I ask her did she get permission she said it was our son and and we paid for stadium and the head coach owes her anyway. and after five pics she walked out of gate and back to seat and no one said a word.

Be careful trying to do this in high school games -there are rules that press photographers have to follow (not to mention every john doe will be copycatting and doing the same). Folks not in the official capacity to be on the field must stay behind the fence and in the stands. Going on the field poses a liability to the schools. The risk of injury is pretty high, especially being an amateur in a place like that. When you're captivated looking through a viewfinder you dont have a good grasp of what's really happening around you and what's coming at you.Quote:

They cant run photos on every LPD game every week, some games have to go without photo coverage. There's only so much space alloted in each paper.

I've been there I got that on my favorites.. The thing is im not gonna Buy Pics for my Scrap book and have them printed on NIce paper.. I want whats printed from the Newspaper, which is why im ****ed. I shouldn't have to buy 2 or 3 pics a week to keep my scrap book going, Coalfield progress needs to get UNCHEAP and get PICS of the HOMETOWN team in the paper! Nomatter who they play.. Coeburn vs Rye Cove pics were in the paper... what a waste... ST. Paul / Appy had pics in the paper HAYSI / CASTLEWOOD had pics in the paper KELLY Lee High pics are in the paper from tuesday!... Seriously NO J.I. Burton Thats **** Poor job by OUR hometown paper...
I've always considered the Coalfield a Wise County paper not just an exclusive City of Norton paper. If they went off of what happens in Norton each week they wouldn't have much of a paper. Just because it is located within the City limits doesn't mean it is just "our" paper. But I see what you're saying
Yeah of course its gonna hve news from all the county.. but its Located in norton, how hard is it to get someone to go take pics at everyones sporting events.. was it easier to send someone to take pics at the Haysi/castlewood game? I've kept a scrap book for years and this is the ONLY time they've pulled this crap.
Maybe i'll write them a letter maybge there is a good reason pretty much every game in the LPD except the only LPD vs LPD game had pics this has ruined my scrap book and im just so disappointed in ****field for their lack of pics...
I would say it was easier for the Haysi/Castlewood game because the paper is also affiliated with the ****enson Star and their photographer from over that way went to the Haysi game would be my guess.
The Coalfield did not send a photographer to the Coeburn/RC game.

The office may be located in Norton, but it's not a Norton City newspaper.
"Hometown" teams are Wise County and LPD teams.
No one team gets coverage every single week.
Maybe the point Bob is making is that someone from Coeburn taking photos sent the Coalfield photos that they could publish if they desired.
The Coalfield had someone scheduled to take photos at the Burton game, but that person was not able to make it because of a last minute conflict. And they didn't let anyone know until Monday that they couldn't make it.

...and you're still not getting the point. I don't think the Crapfilled views Burton as "the hometown team". I think they're into covering the regional sports as well as their cash-strapped company can. It's not very well, granted, as they've messed up numerous box scores I've seen this year, but at least they try to cover the whole LPD and as much of the Region D that they can.Quote:

IM buying news papers (Kingsport / Bristol and Coalfield Progress) and keeping a scrap book from the papers... and I knew Kingsport and Bristol wouldn't put pics from the pound game in their paper I was relying on Coalfield... instead we get pics from Haysi and Castlewood? Thats where my problem comes in, and most of what I get is smart ass responses and a "Threat" from a forum admin These forums have went down hill so far. :mooning:
Lets go back for 3 years and find a 2 week span of no pics of Burton football games in the Coalfield... I dare you.

Meaning that they likely paid a freelance photographer for the pictures that they took at the game and were going to take regardless. They didn't say "screw Burton, we're going to Haysi/Castlewood instead". Maybe Lovell's price for his work is too rich for the Crapfilled's blood? Seems to be for yours.Quote:

As for a "threat", it's up to us to moderate this board--nothing personal towards you. I'm not going to set the trend of allowing the type of post you put out towards NSSB to go out to any other poster--including you. It was ridiculous and uncalled for. Also--if you've paid attention, we have banned posters for continually circumventing the filter and doing what you did. I could have banned you right off--but I'm trying to do the right thing with a warning first. It's OK to be upset about how terrible the content in the Crapfilled has become. However, there's no need to get this out of joint about it when a) there are alternatives for you to keep up your scrap book (though more expensive than the paper), and b) it's pretty well known around the area that the Crapfilled ain't what it used to be at all...so your crazed ranting doesn't help anything...especially when it's directed at other posters and violates board rules.
