I never did hear anything but did the Cumberland decide to let Norton join their district?
From what I've heard the principals took a vote to see if it was worthy of a vote and that motion failed miserably.
If it is football they are worried about they may be able to go Independent in football next year and stay in the LPD for the other sports.
LMFFAO!!! You know they don't want Burton in their district. Burton would rule them. But in the end it might soften Burton up some, as well. No sense in going to a weak district.Quote:

Burton was having a hard time picking up games for Pound and Appalachia where they were suppose to be closing. Now that they "Aren't" I don't think they are trying to leave the district.
Burton Finally got their Football schedule filled out after Appy and Pound was told to make schedules.
Not sure if they are even still considering leaving the LPD as much as getting ready for LPD being disolved won't stay around with 4 schools and Clintwood only has 2 seasons left before they are consolidated... etc etc

I think it would be to our benefit unless ther do another revamp of how your seeded for the playoffs, I mean those teams in Dogwood district were/are combined A/AA and it didn't hurt those teams any. Nothing Burton wouldn't be use to, Clintwood, PV, JJK, and use to be Coeburn (now in the CD) all of those schools I believe have well over a hundred kids enrolled more than Burton does. Pound Maybe closer and Appy may even have less than JIB Other than that JIB is the Small School.Quote:

Besides I am just going with what I had been told so who knows..... Cant think of any other Legit reason for the district switch (More travel time, smaller gates, lesser competition) Loseing Pound and Appy would be legit conserns but I am sure Gate City would not mind helping fill out your schedule LOL

It is for football only. Dogwood District is number one, and Clinch Mountain is fourth instead of third. (Three Rivers is third) . The research kinda blew me away too, I didn't think CMD would be that high.

Burton has 242 Students Clintwood has Exactly 340 About 100 More students Which im sure each are Plus or Minus some, depending on when this was updated. (I would guess the begenning of the year) But I think to Be classified as D1 or D2 or AA whatever VHSL has to have an accurate number on how many students you have.Quote:

Everytime you see one of those links for VHSL enrollment #'s they're different. I think the link below is the most up to date/accurate. It's a PDF file that outlines the whole playoff situation next year. Page 19 of 20 has all the enrollments for the D1 schools and that one has Clintwood at 321 and JIB at 253. I think the enrollment numbers for the present year is always from 2 years back as well. I think Clintwood's enollment numbers have gone down every year since I graduated 15 years ago. JIB's seem to be going up every year as well.Quote:
