Played well. I didn't realize GC had the new kids. It has really improved their squad, I think if/when Sam gets back we'll be right with them. GC was up 17 after the first it got as close as eight. FWIW, Hurley has the best team in the region imo.
How many do they have? I haven't seen their roster.
Three that I know of. If you take those three off the roster they score a combined 25 points tonight. It is what it is, you can't change anything once the game starts.
I'm interested to know who the 3 transfers are...I only know of Paul Arnold who was at GC last year...not bein a **** or condescending, I just literally don't know of any others...they certainly could've added more when I left
Austen Arnold and Andy Arnold neither are as good as Paul but you could make an argument outside of Potts the three are the best players on the team.
haha ahhh I figured that's who you might be thinking about...but no...both have lived in GC their whole lives...first cousins of Paul Arnold, thus the reason for the transfer to GC for Paul
I see, I guess I was misinformed. Odd that they didn't play last year.
Austin Arnold's dad was my coach in 7th grade...he played at FSU
Austin played as a kid, then kind of lost interest, very talented kid, very athletic, but very raw
Andy Arnold is a kid I coached when I was at GC last year...his growth at the end of last year and over the summer was exponential...totally different kid almost

IMO, Hurley beats JJK by close to double digits in most games. JJK was gift wrapped the game, Hurley had two technical fouls called on them late in the game on top of an original foul. Basically, JJK was awarded six foul shots late and still couldn't win. FWIW, nobody that I have seen is a world beater or on the level of last year's PV/GC/Lebanon team.
I haven't seen Honaker so I should exclude them from my judgement.
It may be Granville Arnold's son. I never got the chance to see Granville play in High School or College but I have heard a ton of stories about him. I think he played in the late 70's early 80's at Lynn View/North then went to FSU but he was one of the best players to ever come out of Northeast TN to hear my dad tell it. I seen him play some in the kingsport City League and you could tell he was really good even years later. He also had a brother I think named Rodney who was also a great player.
He has been in Gate City awhile I believe. I know he was over the rec leauge a couple years and I think he owned the sporting goods store over in wadlow gap that done alot of the jersey's for youth sports in Gate City.

It is Granville's son. I remember him some about the time gcdev and myself were calling rec league games. Granville never ran the Scott County Rec League, but I do believe he coached a travelling team some, and that is where I think I saw his son play when he was probably 9 or 10 at a couple of tourneys I helped out with.
When I looked at the box score on my way to work this morning I noticed the 3 Arnold's and figured that might be who PVFan was talking about.
Its funny to hear what people from Kpt say about GC.

Rodney and Granville were playaz back in the day. Granville was and is arguably one of the best "big" men to ever play in NE TN. Granville married a GC girl thus the GC connection.
Austen (Granville's Son) has more raw talent than Paul (Rodney's son) but Paul is the distinctly better all around player.
We should have had a 4th Arnold playing at GC. Chase Arnold, sophomore, whom is tearing it up at North right now had transferred over to GC in the 6 th grade but politics as they are in the little league system was run off. Chase also has a little brother whom i coached a couple of years ago, Christian 6-7 grader whom is nothing but talent. I work with their Dad, whom is no relation to the current GC Arnold's, and he wished they were treated better because they would both be at GC now.
After looking at GC's roster, it looks like Granville's kids got their size after their old man. I hadn't seen them since they were little. Austin was pretty good in LL for their age group.
